  • My Take:
    I had been to bisle ghat last year, but it was just till the view point.
    So i decided this time while coming back from mangalore why don't i try that route, SOLO. It was an amazing experience, adding to that, few stretches were really creepy. All in all it was an amazing experience riding solo there.
    From Wiki:
    Bisle Reserve Forest is a reserve forest east of Bisle village. It is contiguous with Kagneri Reserve Forest to the north, Bhagimalai Reserve Forest of Dakshina Kannada district to the west, and Kukke Subramanya forest range to the southwest. To the south it merges with Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary of Kodagu district.
    Around 5 km from Bisle towards Kukke Subramanya there is beauty spot of Bisle called Bisle Betta or Bisle View Point. From here one can see the mountain ranges of 3 districts: Kumara Parvatha (1319 m) of Dakshina Kannada district, Pushpagiri (1712 m) and Dodda Betta (1119 m) of Kodagu district and Patta Betta (1112 m) and Enni Kallu (900 m) of Hassan district. The highlight of this point is that the view has a valley, with Giri River separating the beauty point and these mountain ranges. The forest department has erected a shelter here to sit and enjoy the view.
    Though Bisle is given the status of reserve forest, the stretch from Kulkunda to Bisle gate is undisturbed by human activities except for the following constructions by forest department.
    A check post & related residential hutments at Budi Choudi.
    Three km ahead of Budi Choudi, a reception room on the roadside.
    Down on the riverside of Addahole few Dormitories with a rope bridge.
    An inspection bungalow at Addahole bridge.
    A round sun shade at a view point and watch tower at the Bisle View Point.
    The reserve forest is part of the North Western Ghats montane rain forests ecoregion.
    The thick forest is home of king cobras, tigers (rarely seen), Sambar deer, peacocks, numerous species of birds, Spotted deer, brown fox and Mahasheer fish, not to mention a number of flora and fauna which can only be found in this region of Western Ghats. Elephants often criss cross this area and is a elephant corridor of Western ghats. One of the largest and rarest Indian mustelids Nilgiri marten (Martes gwatkinsii) were sighted recently in Bisle forest.

    Bisle ghat was one route i always wanted to explore while coming back or while going to Mangalore, but never got a chance. Finally got a chance to ride via this route! Also This is the first time i've narrated something in a video. Hope you all liked it! :) Do give a thumbs up..
    EDIT: The River you see at 4:30 is not Kumaradhara River. Its ADDA HOLE which would later join Kumaradhara river. Thanks to Rajendra for pointing this out :)

      +CalmRider Yeah i had the same feeling when i saw sakleshpura route also. :( It used to be bliss to see the canopy there. now its just dead trees on both sides. Sad.
      And BTW thanks a lot marre.. Glad you liked it. :) Tried something different this time. :D 🙏🙏

    That was a nice travel vlogs and with a crisp editing and soothing music.
    I remembered my drive in my Maruthi 800 fifteen years back and the road was really terrible those days and I could not find a vehicle for almost 25 kms. My drive was from Subramanya and joined Sakaleshpur near the tea shops where the bisle ghat joins the Shiradi ghat beginning. And I must say that it was one hell of a journey and I am thinking of driving again in that ghat after seeing your journey.

    • @TheDUKEMan
      @TheDUKEMan  6 років тому +2

      Wow! That would have been one amazing journey back then.. Most of the route untouched by humans. How did you manage to take maruti 800 back then on that route? And I got it. You are talking about the tea shops that are near manjarabad fort. Thats where the ghat meets sakleshpur 😊
      Thanks for the compliments regarding the editing and the music selection. I'm glad you liked it. 😊

    • @pachesh
      @pachesh 6 років тому

      The DUKE Man May be I was crazy and it was like an off road driving and I had trust on my good old 800. But now I don't think I will take my so called SUV Breeza on that road.

    • @TheDUKEMan
      @TheDUKEMan  6 років тому +1

      Currently the bisle ghat is closed from jan this year. But once it's opened. I'm sure you can take any car over there as the whole route is will be concrete road. Future generations would miss the real bisle for sure.

    • @pachesh
      @pachesh 6 років тому

      The DUKE Man The whole stretch will be concrete. Oh No. Crazy driver's like us will definitely miss driving on the good old roads which we won't get driving on the tolled good roads.

    First of all, i started enjoying the video. I am planning to go to a bike trip tomorrow with my girl friend to Bisle Ghat. So we were doing the research and planning. Secondly, your Solo Ride "Through" Bisle Ghat was quite exciting. But the problem is, I didn't get to understand why I should go there. Because you haven't shot much on that place. You could have shot some good views from there.

    • @TheDUKEMan
      @TheDUKEMan  6 років тому

      +Vivek Saraswat Thanks a lot, but i would like to add one thing, this video is more of the solo ride through Bisle "GHAT" and not ride to the Bisle "Beauty Spot". :) Hence this video has detailed video of the whole route till Kukke. I've another video for the ride to the beauty spot itself. Do check that for the place. Though i could have gone to the beauty spot, as you might have seen in the video, there were too many people and it didn't seem peaceful. Hence chucked it.

    Beautiful vlog & adventurous. It reminds me of my ride during g 1989-90.. Attempted it 2 times on RX 100 and both the times landslide did cutshort the ride. As u said it is spooky and warned for elephants. Bamboo forest adds to creepy sounds. Roads way back then was just fine dust & we had ourselves covers by dust completely. Roads now looks improves halfway..but also increase the tourist attraction.

    • @TheDUKEMan
      @TheDUKEMan  7 років тому

      +Prakash Subbanna WOW! That road has less people movement, few small landslides here and there even now, . At those times in the 90's it would have been a totally different story. Pure adventure. :)
      And yeah i had read last year that a person died on this route on encounter with elephants early morning.
      Also, i was sad with the road widening part. Pretty sad to see that once thick forest has been ruined. :(

    great bro....i have also ride in the same road before 5 years back, while the time of shiradi ghat was closed due to work. i think now its very risky road , because very rare vehicles will travel in this road, if any Tyre puncture or any small accident happens , then no one will coming for help........great attempt.......

    • @TheDUKEMan
      @TheDUKEMan  7 років тому

      +milantm24 Thanks a lot man! :) BTW What i feel is 5 years back it would have been more challenging to travel via bisle as there were no roads and its less known than what it is now. But if some thing happens, i agree its very scary and dangerous as there is no one to help! Even now. :)

    • @TheDUKEMan

      +sateesh kumar I didn't actually give attention to mileage. Normally I get an average of 35-40 on rides. :)

    how is the road from bisile to chennpatna, is it doable by car?

    • @TheDUKEMan
      @TheDUKEMan  7 років тому

      Do you mean from Channarayapatna or Channapatna?
      If it's Channarayanapatna. then the roads are good from Kudrasthe(Just after Bisle) via shanivarasanthe till there. And also Scenic. :)

    • @MrAbhiksmech
      @MrAbhiksmech 7 років тому +1

      The DUKE Man sorry I meant chennarayapatna..

    • @TheDUKEMan
      @TheDUKEMan  7 років тому +1

      Ah okay! Then yeah. Roads are good from Channarayapatna until Bisle view point. Either you can go via Sakleshpur or via Arkalgud - Shanivarasanthe.

    • @TheDUKEMan
      @TheDUKEMan  7 років тому

      +Sandeep Kh This was shot with my previous camera GoPro Hero Basic with the Water proof casing, that is the reason for the muffled audio.. :) Now i've a HERO 5 but trying to get an external mic adapter. :D Anyways i will take this point and try to record audio separately! Thanks BTW :)

    Audio is fair enough.. too many nitpik suggestions :) Good idea to add audio dialog later. Using the mount on top of the helmet provides a much wider and cleaner view.. whenever you stop you can take a small video of the bike and the surrounding

    • @TheDUKEMan
      @TheDUKEMan  7 років тому

      +Moto Max still trying to improve on the audio part. I had shot this with my basic gopro with a water proof case. That is the reason for the muffled audio. Now I've a hero 5.hoping to have a better audio. Will improve on that. :) also I cannot mount the camera on top of my helmet safely.
      Anyways will take these points and improve on it. :)

    Good to see the video bro.. 🙂 We have seen the worse roads in bisile, from somvarapete to subrahmnya.. 🙂 but ride was amazing...☺ One thing " we r happy to see someone still there who thinks about widening the roads in the cost of cutting down trees...!" Thank u 🙂

    • @TheDUKEMan
      @TheDUKEMan  7 років тому

      +Ajeya Krishna Thanks a lot bro! And which is the road you are talking about from somavarpete to subramanya, mallali waterfalls route? was just curious :)
      And yeah. i was really sad at the sight of those wide roads. Remembering my previous ride, i missed those dense forest of bisle. only 8km of it is left. and i dont know till when it will remain. when will people ever learn the importance of forests.

    • @ajeyakrishna4501
      @ajeyakrishna4501 7 років тому +1

      The DUKE Man Yes its mallalli falls route. And yeah u r right.. same tragedy has happened in sakleshpur highway and shiradi ghat as well, they have cut down 80k trees... Can u belive its 80k..!!!😢

    • @TheDUKEMan
      @TheDUKEMan  7 років тому

      Regarding Sakleshpura - Hassan, Nowadays i rarely travel on that road. It's so saddening sight to see those canopy's, which used be a delight to ride through, not there anymore. But i cant believe they have cut down around 80K trees.. i hope its not that big number. i really hope so. :(

    • @ajeyakrishna4501
      @ajeyakrishna4501 7 років тому

      The DUKE Man bro.. sad part is its more then that.. for their shitty idea of yettina hole n widening roads they officially declared n chopped down 80k trees.. n u know how govt officials r... Donna about the unofficial number...!! Its around 55kms both the side of the roads they have chopped!!!

    8kms stretch from Bisle view point towards Kukke Subramanya is bad.. pure gravel
    Need to keep a machete to clear tree branches obstructing your way
    Even the newly asphalted road is not upto mark .. slippery ( more kerosene used while asphalting)

    • @TheDUKEMan
      @TheDUKEMan  7 років тому

      +vikram m yeah. that 8km is the most adventurous is what i can say. And that is the real bisle ghat. :) And about the newly asphalted road i actually didn't feel it being that slippery. Only thing is, they shouldn't have widened it so much. Lots of forest lost there, feels sad :|
