My favorite Elvis movie King Creole has three songs I really like. The beginning clip Crawfish is fun and features Kitty White and Elvis duet. The New Orleans vibe is so bluesy.

Well others have said Seph you are full of surprises. You are the same guy who didn't reckon much on Memphis Tennessee one of the greatest rocking songs he performed in the 1960's. On the other hand this is a good movie song and your enthusiasm has made me look at in a better light.

The difference after 1968 is the songs are all his own choice and production so he sings them with his heart and soul ,especially in live performances. I do like this song and it comes from a good movie soundtrack, its fun and Elvis did put some effort into the vocals and performance . But for me not in the same class as anything from 68 onwards. I must admit that this song is really not among my favourites...but what I like about your reaction is that you actually listen to the song instead of listening to or fearing the mainstream opinion (who would probably mostly agree that this is among the crappier songs) and as you say there are always elements that are quite special like the clock rythm...what is so amazing about elvis is that he can turn any song into an experience if you just let yourself go an follow the flow. By music critic standards and compared to the incredible talent Elvis had, some songs may indeed be considered as mediocre and sometimes it hurts to think that he "wasted" years not singing what corresponded more to his personality or musical ambitions. Total honesty: I like this movie. It's just so sparse in parts. It's not this major production, right? But there is something about this movie that I just like. I really like Elvis's gruff character. He's not an easy guy to like in this movie. I really like. I'm a sucker for anti- hero main characters in books and movies. To me, Elvis was the total opposite of Vince Everett in "Jailhouse Rock" and he played that jerk character so well that I just fell in love with Elvis playing the jerk hero. And in this movie he's kind of a jerk too. He was a good actor. A solidly good actor. In my opinion. Because in parts where Elvis played characters who were the total opposite of how he really was, he was a believable rude and gruff jerk. I think he was just so hungry for a chance to prove he had the acting chops and as his movie career progressed, Elvis sadly felt more and more sick to his stomach, and worried that his career was effectively over. So having said all of that, I actually forgot about this song. To you that must sound like a travesty of the first order 😂 In my opinion, it's hardly his best song. We'll see if you change your mind once you get into the '70's. I have a sneaking 🎶Suspicion🎶 you're going to like the 1970's. Some of my favourite songs get trashed and some we agree up on. He is honest that's the main thing. Always fun to see what the next reaction will deliver.
