What a lovely heavenly place! Also it’s so great that they have no risk of being struck by a car! I’m so glad you could help the vet with the kittens! 😻❤️
This is wonderful!! I'm curious how Lamu Animal Welfare Clinic is funded outside of public donations. Being an isolated island, I imagine donations are limited (until now with your video bringing awareness ❤). And thank goodness for Veternarian Peterson for helping the island's overpopulation problem. 👏👏
You are so absolutely correct! It's so easy and feels good to help those in unfortunate situations. I don't understand why more people don't care or try to help. Bless those who do 🥰
Stunning video. I’ve noticed that horses and barn cats have an affinity for each other. I knew one horse who would regularly cross his paddock to say 'hi' when his favorite cat jumped up on the fence
My husband and I visited Lamu 15 years ago and it was not as well known to tourists at the time! Not only do they care for cats but they had a lovely Donkey Sanctuary! They believed that donkeys worked hard and deserved vacation time. Lovely people...
I just wanted to thank you for showing us other parts of the world with cat populations and how society helps them. Lamu reminds me of some islands in Greece with overpopulation. You are a blessing to everyone you touch.
A little slice of heaven, on earth. I love how they trap and neuter the cats and that you have to walk everywhere. No cars! Thanks for taking us along on your trip, Hannah and Andrew. ❤
What a lovely community of sweet people and beautiful, loved kitties! Dr. Peterson is a delight! Kind, compassionate and doing such wonderful work. A brilliant young man, he is making such a difference in the world. Thank you, Hannah, for getting supplies and training to the doctor and his staff.
that is such a good idea to travel with anti flea and eye drops! for me its a big struggel to travel to other countries because i can't bear to see sick animals and not being able to help them! but travelling with medicine could actually work!
😭 Thank you so much Hannah for educating us, educating the veterinarian about kitten care and spreading awareness about this island and cats on general. We are truly blessed as are the cats that cross paths with you. 🙏 I'm so grateful for your existence and passion.
I bought that book for my mother in the 90s. We had been to Mombasa, but not Lamu. The Mombasa cats were long, thin and very "ancient Egypt" looking. No one seemed to own them, but that's probably true for most cats around the world. As in Lamu, they were fed fishermen's scraps, thus keeping the place clean.😺
When I started volunteering at Alley Cat Allies’ TNR clinic back in 2007 (in Centreville, VA), we were all given the book The Cats of Lamu by Jack Couffer. Such a great gift. I cannot wait to go one day.
My husband took me to his home in Istanbul and the thing that shocked me most was there were cats on the loose everywhere. It was so precious though, because it was the winter all businesses and restaurants let them inside. I sat across from a cat in a fine dining restaurant, while my husband was in the bathroom. They also let them hang out in H&M to stay warm
This is beautiful! I used to live close to Lamu! Thank you for your care? Please try to pronounce Lamu correctly ! The a is like the au in taught. When you visit foreign countries often it’s not too hard to learn the right pronunciation of their home land. It shows them respect as well!
Look at Hannah, the angel, spreading love all over the world. Your videos always put a smile in everyone's faces. I wish all your dreams become true!! Thanx for everything you do!!!
Thanks for showing about these kitties! I had a sandbox in the backyard for my kids years ago. I didnt cover it and lo and behold it became a litterbox. I was unaware of this and my kids went to play in it, ugh!! They got "empitigo" from it! so be ware! You are AWESOME for doing this to help these kitties!!!
How amazing! I love your travel videos with cats. I ran into a ton of cats years ago in Italy. One cat in particular was super friendly and very pregnant.
God bless this wonderful Dr. Peterson. What a wonderful man and an animal lover. Thank you, Ms. Hannah, for this wonderful video of people on the other side of the world, being kind to cats.
ohmy I love this video. It's so good to see there are places where they care really good for the animals. Never seen so many healthy working donkeys at one place. Amazing. Lots of country (like Egypt) can learn from them
If it were me, I’d never go home once I got there ! I just took in four strays this year - one semi-feral and three others feral ! I’m hoping I can tame them all but only two right now allow me to pet them! This place would be like heaven to me !
You are so kind😊 always educating us in term of cats. Good to know how other cultures take care of animals specially cats . Never heard of Lamu now I was educated.thanks
Happy to see a place where stray cats are welcome. Very different here in St. Croix, USVI. We do all we can to TNVR as many as possible because it is not a great place for kittens to be born in the wild. Humans are their biggest predator. 😢
What a lovely heavenly place! Also it’s so great that they have no risk of being struck by a car! I’m so glad you could help the vet with the kittens! 😻❤️
I wish we had more car-free places like this in my country... :(

I loved this and I love that the people of Lamu are so nurturing of their cats and donkeys. Thank you Hannah and Andrew!❤️😻
i never cry, except for i cried happy tears watching this.

Would be very happy living there ❤️
If all humans would treat all creatures and each other so kindly what a beautiful world this could be. ❤️
I agree! And a person can do that without any special training!
You are so absolutely correct! It's so easy and feels good to help those in unfortunate situations. I don't understand why more people don't care or try to help. Bless those who do 🥰
Damn, are you gonna visit all of the cat islands around the world? Cuz I’m here for it
Me too
Stunning video. I’ve noticed that horses and barn cats have an affinity for each other. I knew one horse who would regularly cross his paddock to say 'hi' when his favorite cat jumped up on the fence
They are both sensitive, curious creatures
6:27 when everyone celebrates the moment the baby latches with “nice!”
my heart ❤❤❤❤

I am such a huge fan my parents let me get a kitten because I know lots about kittens cause I watch you
Aw that’s great! I hope everything is going well with your adopted kitten
I love how they treat the cats. I'm sure the services the cat provide are equal to or better. This is great synergy.
We need more people like you in this world
What a lovely community of sweet people and beautiful, loved kitties! Dr. Peterson is a delight! Kind, compassionate and doing such wonderful work. A brilliant young man, he is making such a difference in the world. Thank you, Hannah, for getting supplies and training to the doctor and his staff.
What a wonderful little community on that island
that is such a good idea to travel with anti flea and eye drops! for me its a big struggel to travel to other countries because i can't bear to see sick animals and not being able to help them! but travelling with medicine could actually work!

Seems like such a 'pure' place. I love it.
its so neat how we show that cats have been fixed with the eartip here in the US and all the way in Africa too
*This is a channel full of inspiration. Hopefully more people will be moved to care about cats, especially street cats ❤❤❤*
I love how you foster kittens but also take the time to travel

My 3 cubs are rescues and tipped, here in NY.

Soon good to see you helping to train the vet!!! TFS!!!!
I love the way the donkeys are used on Lamu, they seem just as happy as the feline citizens
When I visited the Lamu I saw many donkeys, 1 Land Rover but not one cat. Very amazing since this shows many mini lions..
You are doing a great job, Hannah ❤
A good life for them as long as they are fed
Amazing! Thank you for sharing this beautiful experience with us! I'm happy to know about a happy place for cats

Wow people are so amazing.
There are lot of big cats in Africa, look at all the little kitties!
Africa also has the wild ancestors of housecats 😺
Me, normally fascinated by history and culture: yeah yeah get to the kitties already XD
I love this! Lamu is now firmly on my fantasy travel list ❤
What caring people! I love that ginger kitten with his piece of fish. His face totally said, “Get your own, lady! This is *my* lunch!”

Haven't watched the video, but hopefully it's better than Cat Island.
