Nice one mate - I think a 79 and log cabin would be pretty high up there on many blokes bucket list. I haven't had the privilege of log cabin, but the 70 series is an awesome truck. I had a 76, sold it, then I went through half dozen other 4x4's before buying one again earlier this year. Nothing else compares. Re: the under seal, good idea as I've seen quite a few 70's looking a bit corroded underneath. I can recommend Lanotec - great natural product. Just degrease and then give her a spray with that every 6 months or so...
Back in me teenage days and early 20s I use to go around my hometown Gisborne and act like I had money lol just so I could take one of these beautys out over night then id take it back the next day and say I wasnt interested 😂😂, fun times, Think word got out cause it came to pass no yard would let me take a 4x4 out anymore over night. They'd always come back muddy and what not lol. If I ever have the privilege of having a home that I own it'll be a log cabin I've always wanted one myself. Have an amazing rest of your week mate.
Hi 👋 clay sorry for the late feed back buddy got our young 14 month old grandson over for the night was watching then I had to leave and help the wife with the Bub . It’s always awesome to catch up when you showing off the Toyota v8 Land Cruiser mate can’t wait to see it in action cheers clay 🤠Colin ☕️☕️🙏🤩
Love the cabin clay. Dreams can come true. Dreaming about what I want to do next at, 70 years 11 months keeps me going. Fishing season is next. A salmon at the canals would be neat. Carry on the good work bro.
Watch out egr blanking and catch canning your ute. Just make sure first that Toyota won’t void warranty and insurance will still cover you. It happened to a bloke I used to work with in the model that first had the dpf installed. He decided that his modifications were better than warranty and insurance
yeah good point. For that reason, I will get the catch canning done by a Toyota workshop. I wouldn't say I like the EGR with a passion but will live with it. The DPF is ok. Mine has a manual DPF setting as well. This means I can choose when to turn it on rather than have it kick in automatically. Cheers mate
Hi Clay, Charlie here from Napier, I have a throttle controller in my 2013 79 series V8, works well and mechanic approved. I leave it on AC mode typically.
Very true I did a tune n clutch upgrade in my 79 Went from 400 nm @ the wheels to 800 nm Standard turbo. I think the four banger would be nicer to drive but who doesn’t like the V8 come on lol
Clay not sure where you are getting your info from, but you do not need to upgrade the cooling. You need to change out the clutch, new exhaust (rip out the DPF while your there) and get a ram head for your snorkel. Will get an easy 650nm to 700nm. It is a MUST on these. I have had 2, a 2019 and now a 2024
@@thebrocheckclub1777 yes about to, clutch and exhaust has been done with jmacx coil kit. Tune is in a couple of week. Its night and day once they are tuned. Totally different vehicle
If it's a Toyota it will be good and if it's a cruiser it will be awesome . I've got a 1989 FJ 62 GXL Landcruiser 3F petrol with 564,004 klms on the clock still runs like a clock and it has been all over the Mountains of Victoria and south eastern NSW on many occasions in the 24 years I've owned it .
Grumpy old bastard! LoL. Bloody planes annoy me too though. A wrap sounds good but I did see some sort of self-healing (?)treatment at Toyota a few years ago. Might be worth looking into it as an alternative option. Roof rack: You spoke of getting a water tank a few days ago, a lot of Aussies run a 4 inch pipe along the side of their rack as an extra water option. Then plumb a line and valve into it. I'd consider the materials and its' affect on drinking water. Moves some weight up high too but worth a thought. The bonus of a roof rack is it also keeps the direct sun (heat) off the actual cab roof. Great in central Aus. I threw some extra insulation into the roof lining of my van while I was over there to reduce the heat. Not sure if air flows through there though.... 30mm out on the walls. That's pretty good considering logs are fairly tapered unless they are machined parallel. Not all wood is the same, I understand you have some good high-density pine growing in your region.
Oh, shrink tubing on the connector. Water will pretty much get in along the wires anyway unless you silicone the wire bunch entries at the ends. Maybe if you still want to go down that track just cut it off if you need access and carry some spare shrink tubing.
Hey bro, fyi those boards need to be sealed with paint around the cut edges. I diddnt get told and mine are fuckn warped from rain... ment to be marine board... yours look the same 😅 love the videos hope ya see this
yes, but honestly, he would have had to use a lot of lifting gear like a digger of a gantry to lift the logs for scribing. Daniel Heath is exceptionally strong.
@@thebrocheckclub1777 yea agreed, but daniel will be only be able to do that for so long before his body decides to blow something! i know this coz i thrashed mine while i was a chippy 20 years ago. if i could go back in time an use lifting gear to save my body to where i am today. i hope young daniel will click on to this 1 day. cheers
only takes 1 wrong lift to blow out a disc in ur lumbar or neck spine. i know coz i done this when i was trying to lift a garage lintel in. an fk me i regret it, i should of just paid for a hiab/crane rather than being a tight fk. lessons we learn, untill it actuall hapens in life.
I'd check with the manufacturer of the tray to see if that honeycomb finished ply is tanalised or not. Most of that product comes out of Latvia and is ply made from northern hemisphere Birch and ANY cut surface will begin rotting if its not painted pronto with a propriety paint. We had our 4 year old horse float begin growing mushrooms down along the bottom edge due to us not knowing it needed sealing immediately after being cut.

2.8 is a good motor, for a hilux or a prado. They definitely ain’t selling here in Nz. Dealers will be giving them away soon. That’s says everything I need to know. Sure the 2.8 is a reliable proven motor. But so is the 1vd, as my pops use to say there’s no replacement for displacement.
Brother, soon enough you will lose sight of imperfections. I somehow hate having nice shiny stuff. Happier once I crack my phone screen because then I don't need to worry so much about it and can actually do life stuff with it
Just be careful with the hand brake, better to push the button and pull up than grinding those teeth, as I personally know that toyota are notorious for hand break failures when on a hilly incline
Fantastic advice mate. For anyone else who is not sure. That stands for Original Equipment Manufacture. The glass that the original manufacturer provided when the Ute was built.
When ya loaded up with 4 men 4 dogs a load of gear and a couple pigs on the deck a few more horsies under the bonnet come in handy for climbing those steep hills.
The 2.8’s are running the little tiny engine to the max. To me it’s like ripping out the v8 and throwing in a bombed up Prius motor. Honestly why the F would you do that instead of bombing up the v8🤦🤦
