Done a few drift dives on that pass. There's a wonderful cave about 70' where you can duck into to get free from the current. Each time there was a GT just hanging out. Be really careful as it is a quick trip to way offshore where it can be difficult to be found -I learned the hard way 😮. Great laid back island with the sweetest locals. After a few months it was essential to leave, otherwise I would still be there.❤
Awesome GT's, Cannot wait to go back. Very Curious who's boat you were on ? it looks great. We have been on 3 charter boats there and i don't recognize this one.
Thanks , next time I will try the channels at high tide if I can stand , I do fly fishing and with the wind is difficult to cast big streamer with a line 12 . Inside I did catch beautiful bones thanks Etu .
Hello Jonas, awesome catches, congratulations. I'm planning to go to Cook Island next year, 2020, but I have no idea on how I can book a fishing trip there. Is there any places around where you can go by yourself with your rod and reel and fish on the reefs without boat? Also is there any fishing operator/agency that you can point/recommend? I will be traveling with more 3 friends and our goal is the GT's. If you come to Brazil, I can give you some good advice to go fishing here. Thanks and a warm regards.
Hello Tiago, we went to aitutaki mainly to fish from the reef but because there was so much wind during our stay we booked a boat twice because the waves were just to big to fish from the edge of the reef. I can recommend to go fishing with Itu, www.e2sway.com/e2sway/Bonefish_E2s_way.html. most operators don't like to chase GT's because they can't eat it. But he loves the action to, so he's a realy good guide. To fish from the reef, you have to check from where the wind is coming, so go to the side where the waves are the smallest. the water is so shallow you can actualy walk almost everywhere to the edge. Just look for big cracks in the reef where there is a lot of current and you will catch some GT's
The inlet of the harbour in aitutaki. To fish during the day, i think the less light the moon is reflecting the better it is to fish during the day. But with full moon the locals go popping at night in the moonlight and they have quiet some succes doing it.
for light casting (gt's up to 25kg) i use a saltiga 4500 with a shimano kiabatsu. for heavier popping i use saltiga dogfight and a fisherman GT rod (3-piece).

hi! we went fishing with Etu from E2's way
Most GT's in aitutaki are tame 😂😂😂 wouldn't need a rod and reel to catch one you can just hop in the lagoon and pet them
