- Watch a detailed, up-close review of the Chinese Han Dynasty Folded Steel Jian. This was definitely a good price for the quality sword. For only $210, you get a folded 1060 and 1045 carbon steel blade with incredible aesthetically pleasing craftsmanship. Plus a really solid wooden scabbard, a carry case, and a maintenance kit.

Oh, I should mention, since the hilt handle is completely round, I grip higher on the handle so I have a few fingers up on the sword guard to feel where the edge is for alignment.
I wonder what martial method do you practice? great video.
Will the handle wrap come loose after use? How do you fix that?
Never got the hype of Katanas. These are cooler.
Why not both?
Shhhh. let people sleep on it. The last thing you want is for somebody to take something so beautiful and Hype it up and completely ruin it for everyone else. 🤫🤫🤫🤫
These are the swords Blade used in he's movies or Sword I should say. Also it's the Space Sword Sokka used in Avatar. 😎
Yes exactly
@@salvyballacc I'd say thanks to Avatar is how I found out about this particular type. Would be cool to see an actual black blade version.
The main character in a story I'm writing uses this type of sword, one of my favorite blades, sheer beauty
That's a really beautiful sword. Thank you for sharing this review!
Nice sword. I've seen those on the site before. Cool to finally see a video of one. Thanks.
Those swords are used to cut off Manchurian's head.
God, Katana's and Jians are just great looking swords.
It's not a real Han sword. It's not even in the right shape. Defective products of modern industry.
If you want to know the real Han sword, please see my personal homepage. There are some Han sword relics on it.
@@user-hn1wf8lb4i where is your personal home page on UA-cam?
Looks like Sokka’s Space Sword
Sokka's sword is basically this, its a han dynasty style Jian, which is a doubled edged straight sword from ancient china.
i bought a sword listed as sokkas sword from swords of northshire, these 2 are identical
@@ThePreparedSailor if you go on the website I’m almost certain they are they have a new one now that looks more like sokkas sword
Nice sword ,nice unboxing

SO NICE!
this jian is awesome
Very beautiful.
These are very beautiful swords!😎😇
I personally would get another one, but they're just very heavy. Almost too much, for the zombie Apocalypse...
Exquisite!
How to get or buy this sword.
I am from indonesia
I have both but yet i like this han sword katanas are nice to tho
I've read that a lot of Han era type swords are not quite historically accurate because they are supposedly heavier than the actual swords of the Han Dynasty. They applied the thicker and wider blade profiles of the medieval Chinese dynasties (eg. Ming and Qing) to the longer designs of the earlier ancient swords that were supposed to be thinner and lighter. Does that apply to this design?
Although I’m not completely sure, this misconception may come from the fact that thicker bronze blades were used alongside slender steel blades during the Han era.
At least by around the Sui period the thicker and wider Jian blade types seems to have become predominant, likely due to armor development and it providing better power.
Unfortunately, the blades for sale these days are influenced by the cost of shipping and are often thinner, shorter and less wide.
You could check up lk Chen. He produces han Jian that match your description
@@charless3108 Yes, I actually had LK Chen Jians in mind when I wrote this comment. I was trying to compare LK Chen's sword dimensions and weight to that of this one.
I love katanas but I also like the jian swords.
how do you clean a sword like this ? i have one very similar, it has tree gunk on the tip ... ??
Re construction on Han Sword. Who forged? Where made and assembled ?
How much??
Where do you buy it
Can't we use these to cut things?

These were 200$ a couple years ago. They're now selling for 380$
What is the length?
this weapon will KEEL
That remains to be seen. The review did not include any cutting whatsoever.
Wow
price?
No need for the white gloves since the blood will easily stain them after one fight.
Perhaps I am missing something, like you makes this jian and where can it be purchased ?
Swords of northshire it’s called sokka sword
That brass ornament is for holding your sword on your waistband.
How I Can get this sword becouse I love it, n want it
Link is in the description! ^_^
I like the sword, but I would prefer the blade to be a bit longer, 29-30 inches would be perfect. It is now on back-order anyway.
Not to mention it’s like $200 more than what this person bought it for
The sword is beautiful in everything, the only defect is the length of the blade, wielding it from the wrist vertically it must cover the ear. In my case, 30 "inches of blade are needed.
Hello Jacob, that thing about the lenght of the sword is not true.

you could get some much more historically accurate and functional swords from lk chen if you are into han dynasty swords, this one is just weird longquan adaptation.
Thanks for your comment. I found LK Chen and love it!
ohh this one style was pretty historically accurate mate
@@ZhangLee. no it's not, the wrapping, the handle, the hand guard, the tapering of the blade are all wrong, check out lk chen's reproduction you will see what i mean, the width of this one is more likely to be bronze swords, iron and steel han dynasty swords are narrower, i bet the pob of this sword is weird as hell, and the round handle is another common mistake longquan sellers make.
@@Cazzo1231 i mean the over all style of this design did exist in history you just don`t know yet and LK chen didn`t make are all the Han jian style in history he mostly make the military version of it , second the width had nothing to do with it han jian when something call Eight Face Han Jian exist in bronze sword design. third originally han jian design was taking from the bronze sword in Warring States Period and Qin dynasty so it was thicker then the later period Han jian
@@ZhangLee. like i said, bronze sword, if you are making a historical accurate han jian, this thick and wide, you should go with bronze, not steel, there is a reason of them being so thick and wide, there is no historical evidence of these bronze sword design being adapted by iron and steel swords, because iron and steel swords CAN be made narrower and lighter, without sacrificing its cutting, thrusting power. the tapering scabbard is the evidence of tapering at the waist of the blade, which is not shown here, and the round handle shows who ever made this doesn't understand the need of an oval shaped handle for edge alignment, and i bet the handling characteristics will be very strange due to the fact they are not making it to be a functional sword.
I'm from India can u please send me one
So is this website trusted? Also do you have any comments on Hanbon Forge?
Kult of Athena is a trusted site for swords. Idk much about that sword maker though
Can this sword cut Bamboo?
@muhammed hattingh My Qi is very strong.
While cutting depends on the material, jian has historically not been a good weapon for cutting.
Yes it could

Hian jian sword
Looks like sokkas space sword from ATLA
It is, much of ATLA is based on Chinese history and folklore. Sokka's sword is based on a Han Dynasty era Jian. Jian is basically chinese for doubled edge straight sword. Sadly Han Jian are not very well represented in the modern day, you see chinese swords in anything its mostly Dao; large curved sabers from the later dynasties.

All fun and games til a snake decides to stab a old man in the back with this sword
Ain't that somewhat similar to the goblin slayers' sword
Han jian are historical Chinese swords from the Han dynasty. I just looked up the goblin slayer sword and they are quite different. The goblin slayer sword is a short sword that is more similar to a Viking sword which is much wider than the jian. A Han jian is longer and thinner.

แพงเกินไป
저런 가검 하나 사서 써봐야지.ㅋ
But in reality han dynasties never used folded steel. But the sword is very nice. Never knew people would combine Japanese steel making techniques with ancient Chinese sword. Nice👌
Actually before the great smiths of Japan made katanas by folding steel because of the impurities (slag) within the tamahagane (bloom steel) is a technique not unique to Japan. Just saying it could have been imported by Korea, or China. Even the clay tempering techniques that give the hamons are not Japanese only techniques.
@@TheMofotart but steel was invented in India. It was the best steel. The technique is lost now. Folding steel in east asia was manufactured in Japan there is even a 12th century documents about it. Chinese steel swords were not so good and Japan used the same types of swords. But in battles the swords would often break. Hence a monk gave the idea of folding steel to Japan.
@@maxtyson9035 Folding steel is from China and differential queenching. then during Tang dynasty, Japan send a large amount of scholars to China and imported Chinese culture. Folded steel being one of the technique that was exported to Japan.
@@happyface4234 but Indians were the first to invent steel.
@@maxtyson9035 Yes, but the technique was not widespread, and does not have relation to folded steel and differential hardening found in latter blades in Asia.
腿好白--对不起,是我龌龊了
The big Chinese characters on both sides the blade ruined the beauty of a clean classic looking sword.
there is a trade mark on it wth on the side with the dragon there is a trade mark under it
yeah, the etchings are not even well done lol. The dragon on the other side is ugly as sin.
This is a imitation Han sword, not real, its stem is too small compared to the blade and the blade is too thick
That sword is really ugly and definitely not han jian , a real han jian should be much more simple, beauitful and light
Also the handle should never be rounded
