About the Arthurian mythology, you forgot to mention that the protagonist's "assistant" is named Guenievre. :)
Thank you for reviewing one the best quebec film in recent years!
I was at a screening with the director, he said that his oldest fan was in the room, in 90s year old grand-father!
I talked to him after the movie, He was very kind with me and my sister!
It seems to me that Marianna might just be the very best in the game ❤
She's the best movie reviewer out there today.
Red Rooms was way more intense than I expected it to be!
Right?? I was not ready...
Surprised to c this movie finally getting a review from a revered youtuber. I was shocked to not see it pop up in any channel let alone the best of lists. classic case of underrated
The release for this is a mess, and it's not helping - people just don't know it exists. It's out on VoD and even blu-ray in some countries, in limited release in others, and some don't even have a scheduled release at all yet (like the US). Very unfortunate, but I know audiences will make this one a hit eventually - it's too good to be this obscure.
It's amazing how it was the scariest film of the year without needing to be graphic. Just through the photography and sound I was able to scare myself with the cruelty. That courtroom scene was the most chilling of the year.
So interesting that the Lady of Shallot is woven into the story!
Out flew the web and floated wide;
The mirror crack'd from side to side;
"The curse is come upon me," cried
The Lady of Shalott.
Watched it just a few days ago. It's terrific. Pascal Plante never allows you true insight into the mind of Kelly Anne, which is where some of the true horror comes from. This is the horror film to beat for the rest of 2024.
100% ! If I see a horror film better than this one this year it's going to have to be masterpiece level
Thanks for the review. I didn't know about this movie, it sounds so interesting. I discovered your channel recently and have been enjoying your reviews. Love that you focus on the movie, analyse it and keep it on subject instead of talking about unrelated things that a lot of other reviews do. Keep up the good work.
I'm so glad you talked about and recommended this film, because I've never even heard of it before. I can't pretend i fully understood the main character, but i will deffinetly rewatch this in the near future. Great movie. It had the scariest facial expressions since "Come and see". 😅
thank you so much for bringing this one to our attention because it seems like something right up my alley. going to check it out asap!
You're welcome! I hope you love it!
Just saw it right now, and it's actually very very disturbing in a new weird way. Wow.
Since this is on topic, as someone who is into true crime the idea of having a "favorite serial killer" or other things along that line is just perplexing to me. Like serial killers aren't fictional characters they're real people who have done awful things. The way some people can be with true crime is a reflection of humanity's voyeuristic side (like with parasocial relationships, wanting to know as much as possible about your favorite celebrities, etc.)
yeaaaaa serial killer fandoms are strange to say the least....
Thank you for this recommendation. Enjoy all of your reactions. Especially those within the horror genre. Heard you and a couple of other You Tube reactors say that 2024 is supposed to be a very good year for horror movies. So there is much to look forward to.
Great review. My favorite movie of 2024. Anatomy of a Fall was in my top 3 last year.
I am SOOO sold. Thank you, Marianna, for the recommendation! I hope this movie will be available on VOD (if not in theaters) in Poland sometime soon :) Can't wait.
I had watched it and loved it! It's in my top 25 list. Thanks for the video.
Hey Marianne, Thank you for posting.
just watched this cause you recommended it, and I loved it!! thank you
Awesome! I'm glad you loved it!
LOVE this video!!! Can’t wait to check out the film
Thank you! Have funnn ))
@@ImpressionBlendI was watching the toxic avenger movie on tubi last night one of my favorites 😊
Great review for one of the most impressive movie I saw recently!
Thank you!
Can't say I've even heard of this, thanks for the spotlight Marianna!
You're welcome!
Great review ❤
Thank you! ))
Sooooo glad I watched this! Wow! What a great film!
Interesting subject matter. Bundy’s trials in Florida had groupies. It was the oddest thing. Women write Chris Watts love letters. It’s quite odd.
Every serial killer has groupies and I will never understand
@@ImpressionBlendMay I ask where this is streaming? I’m verrrrrry intrigued by the imagery in the trailer.
@@ImpressionBlendok I just caught this (had to scour to find it). Stylish, hypnotic, stunning and so eerie. It’s a yes. Very well done. Oh my God, the first scream when she puts on the braces. Jaw drop. What a haunting moment.
Just watched it, loved seeing a lot of locations in my city of Montreal. Kind of wish they gave the two leads more development, especially come the ending. I would of prefered an ending that showcased how diving deep into the seedy part of humanity, doesn't really help anyone but herself in her obsession. Guess 8MM did it better on that end, because even when Nick Cage finds out who the killer really is, and helps the mother of the girl who died in the snuff film know she actually died, and the killer was given justice...There was a cost, and ultimately, were they better off for knowing? Not really. Kind of wish this movie played on that more, since they even mention at the start"we're lucky we don't have the other girl's footage..."still a great flick though, I just feel the two leads lacked the WEIGHT in writing that would have given the ending some punch, and felt less like a vigilante justice ending. Still glad montreal film making isn't dead, this movie was gorgeously filmed above all else (I even knew an extra on the set of the court case LOL the goth girl sitting next to the lead at the start of the film)
Thanks sounds interesting, about to watch it now.
Enjoy!
Where can this be watched?
I just finished watching the movie and it was so intense. Although there was no graphic scenes the sounds alone were horrifying and disturbing. Thank you for recommending it.
I don’t wanna know more. I’m checkin it Out👍🏾
Never heard of this before. It is now on my radar.
Happy to spread the word!
Let's gooooooo, I enjoy more graphic horror, but I'm still interested. Also it's from my province of Montreal, so I get to see my metroooos
Great review. How do you interpret the ending of the movie? Did she bet to procure the last video just for her personal use or she did it to help move the case forward?
This movie sounds amazing ! I need to , check it out ! ❤❤❤❤.
Yessss you should!
Thank you. For me, it was not a mystery. It was obvious Kelly Ann was a twisted serial killer fan girl, and obvious that Clementine was a victim with a saviour complex. There was no reason to suppose he was innocent. That was not a surprise. I did not feel that Kelly Ann was unravelling because she never seemed “raveled”, she just got caught.
One reason people obsess about true crime is knowing that some crimes can be solved and that bad guys can be caught and that cold cases can eventually be solved. Also, a lot of people worry about being victimised and have sympathy for the victims.
This sounds like my cup of gnarly tea.
Cup of gnarly tea is right ))
this film surprised me a LOT. this is one of my fave films of 2023
A 2024 release for me, and yea, this is going to be one of the best of the year for me, even though January is way too early to make that call
Definitely the most intense film I saw at last year’s LFF. Tension just kept building and building and I had no idea where the hell the movie was going to go to.
Best to go into this movie as blind as possible!
I'm shocked this isn't getting a wider release and more promotion - the movie is an incredible hidden gem.
@@ImpressionBlend The release schedule is pretty maddening & depressing. I keep recommending this film to friends and than having to tell them that no, it won’t get a theatrical release and no, it doesn’t appear to have even been released yet on any of the main streaming sites in the UK.
I'm getting Saint Maud type of vibes from this. Can't wait to see i!
I Have to say, as a film maker but also as a spectator, having just seeing the movie, is more like a tv movie than cinema. It doesn't really hold up. It's not bad, but it's far from good. Distancing visually from the «cool factor», would have been a better opttion.
Where can I stream in the US?
The mother really goes through the ringer in this movie
Hope this is coming to Apple TV or Netflix…
I hope this plays where I can see it.
I don't know if it's getting a full theatrical - it played at festivals, it had a limited release in some countries, and now it's available on VoD in some places (Canada being one of them)
Okay Marianna I'm drooling. Now since I'm am ensconced in the Caucasus, I am wondering if this is theatrical or streaming. It's nowhere on the horizon here theatrically speaking. To put things in focus, Poor Things arrived last Thursday. So a hint please. (I'm hoping for theatrical...) Anyway, thanks for the definitive encouragement to see this or turn my horror license back in.
I doubt this will go theatrical for you, most likely straight to VoD, but don't worry, watching it home, alone, in a dark room only adds to the effect
I need this in my life here in the states…doesn’t appear to be available.
@@johnmoore1969 On VoD in some countries, like Canada. Use a VPN
Thank you very much for the “Red Room”movie recommendation, l watched it. A disturbing and impressive film. l like. ❤️🙏
Where did you watch this? I can't find it anywhere
court room cyber thriller is not what I was expecting after reading the name "RedRooms" especially after having read some comments from people who have actually been in one of these infamous red rooms themselves (by accident) in the dark web. I was expecting this to be done in a style of SAW movies
I think she bought the video, yes for herself but as a way to get the Mother of Camille, for all her spite towards “fans” of the killer. I think she wanted her to see her Daughter die and to know someone was in her house but she’d never figure out who.
I can’t see it here in the US
At first, I was like, "Why are this movie exposing me?" Then the movie hit me with the "courtroom scene". You know the one I mean 😂. Being a little crazy is one thing, but Kelly-Anne takes it to a whole new level ☠.
Kelly-Anne needs some serious help
I just finished watching this and it threw me off I thought she was the killer could damn near change her appearance to damn near anyone. Right but because off the very last joke told from the computer and the way she was acting right? So the house she kept breaking into is the house that the murders were committed right? And she's setting him up to get guilty fuck idk completely
I don't even know when it's getting released here....
Hmmmmmmm.... Call me intrigued. Thanks, Marianna.. 😉
Just watched a short doc on Vice about Columbine shooters fandom. Now those people are fucked up lol. We’re normal as hell. I’ll be checking this out when given the chance!
Hey Marianne, how did you watch this? Did you watch it through streaming?
It's out on VoD in some countries, for example in Canada. Use a VPN.
@@ImpressionBlend Well I live in Canada, so that works for me! Thanks for getting back to me :)
Oh well awesome then! Extra easy for you )) Enjoy!
Does anyone know where to watch this? Is it theatre release only?
On VoD in some countries, for example in Canada. Use a VPN.
Спасибо тебе большое за рекомендацию. Даже маме показал (а так-то я дед-пердед под сорок), и ей понравилось.
Очень люблю твой канал, у тебя крайне впечатляющий вкус.
I can't find this film streaming or watchable ANYWHERE. Where are any of you seeing it?
Xmovies8 😊
So... has anyone tried searching for this? Because as far as I can tell, this movie isn't showing or streaming anywhere... I'm in the US, is it just not here?
Not really expecting an answer but after several minutes of searching I'm a bit loopy and will try anything...! Does no one want my money for this?!
It's on VoD in some countries, like Canada. You can watch it with a VPN.
@@ImpressionBlend And I even have a VPN! Which... I should have thought of, but I clearly don't use it enough.
Just one question. Open ending or closed?
More closed than open, but not "neat little bow" closed
This is the first movie review I've seen where there is absolutely positively nowhere to watch this movie
The Joe Goldberg girlies are gonna have a field day with this
TRULY, they're gonna be like "omg literally ME"
"Mood."
"Good for her"
"Ate and left no crumbs"
WTF is wrong with that lady. I was almost screaming.
Where can this be watched?
It depends on where you live, some places have it on VoD
I guess I'll check it out but there's such bad vibes to a guy going "Why do women like a thing? Let me come up with an explanation.".
IMDB gives me both a film and tv series. confused
Her cross is upside down lol
Red walls are the worst, I choose cosmic latte.
Yeah, they get groupies. James Holmes for instance. Good idea for a movie.
I just don’t know where I can see this movie….
It's going to makes its way to streaming eventually, but currently it's available on VoD in some countries (Canada, for example), so you can watch it with a VPN
@@ImpressionBlend Marianne is clearly a woman of substance and insight. Let's hope in the next review she enchants us with her singing voice. A rendition of "Feed the Birds" from Mary Poppins will suffice as I have my spot of earl grey tea and breakfast crumpet...
I think using the term "horror" is a little misleading. It's more of a thriller/suspense film with little actual horror.
I know people's definition of horror kind of varies, but IMO it's a horror-thriller, and it's listed as "horror", depending on where you look
Bambi is a horror movie.
Edit: it made Time magazine's top 25 horrors of all time.
@@chrisjames1924 I mean... I was definitely traumatized by "Bambi"
@@ImpressionBlend It's the primary reason I've never eaten venison
ЯEDЯUM
You look more like a model than the star of Red Rooms!
That movie is quite mid - the wig court scene is laughable and so silly. It makes no sense at all for the narrative.
Kind of dissapointing for me to be honest
It was boring. Not a thriller, just drama.
I’ve been dying to watch this. Where can I watch it?! I’m in the USA and it’s not available anywhere. 🫤
You need to use a VPN, it's on VoD in other countries, try Canada
Very interesting premise. Definitely adding to my watchlist.
Hope you enjoy it!
