  • On this episode we home all 6 exhaust tips to the rest of the pipes and flanges. Many bends and tacks later we have the result seen here, a full exhaust system created from 316 Stainless tubing and bends. A three cylinder exhaust system split into 6 individual pipes! Enjoy the video.

    That is a work of art! Tremendous amount of patient thinking went into the making of the exhaust.... and it shows. 😁 I can't wait to hear it!

    This is a sexy piece of art and you are killing it. For what it’s worth I’ve seen Brent at Halfass Customs use a zip-cut on the inside of the radius to cut a series of slices about 80 or 90 percent of the way to the outside of the radius while leaving the outside. He then simply bends the pipe into the curve he wants and makes more slices if he wants a tighter curve. It looked like a great idea and you may see if it would help. Greetings from cold snowy Edmonton.

    I trimmed the guard on my grinder, took a good 3 inches off, and it rarely ever gets in the way now. It not only protects your hands , but also your eyes, if you keep your head on the guard side , not the open side.

    • @paulvanhouts3365
      @paulvanhouts3365 5 місяців тому +1

      I like the thought, I would trim a bit at a time to what suits me, whatever the case my fingers need the protection. I have some old guards to test the idea, just never thought of it and put up with the limited cutting range. Eyes are protected by your PPE. When you think about it, a built in finger guard on the casing of the motors would help, that all these fabricators remove them should tell the manufacturers tha a redesign is needed.

    Fabricating tricky bends in 3d from a none magnetic material? Guess you like a challenge. Looks great. If you can't get on with a grinder guard, at least use a face shield. A lot of energy when they go.

    When I work on stainless exhaust I have clamped on mild steel to hold the digital angle finder. I use pie cuts for tight radius bends , spreading the radius over 2 or 3 pie cuts spreads out the peaking. You have done a fantastic job. Love watching your channel. Vern from western Canada.

    Jordan,
    Thanks for the video and the reality of the struggle. I'm sure that many of us who watch don't have the skill you have, but we definately relate to the "little" things that don't go as planned. Nice to see some of the "what the fuck am I going to do here" moments that most seem afraid to show.
    I don't normally comment on videos but this was one that one that many will see inspiration in.
    Keep them coming 👍

    I used to repair saxophones. I had a stake that you could screw on different size balls onto. One end had a gradual curved end . So one could feed it in to the instrument. Then you can hammer down the peak.This would help you with your peak issue.

    Hey Jordan, that engine is a work of art and too darn sexy to hide way in the guts of a van. You certainly are a talented creative young man. If only I had the manual stability to TIG like that! I have played with heavier metal to make some of my own tractor implements. Drawing the curve for the arc that you need could be done with a compass. Draw it on a bit of board then pie cut on the inside of the curve, but not all the way through. It may give you that smoother curve on the outer edge.

    Hey Jordan. Wasn’t trying to bust your balls with the safety comment in the last episode. It’s you see things in a different way when you get a little older. I put a drill in my knee when I was younger and put in reverse and pull it out still have the hole there. I think your right a nice tight curve would been cool but the sliver angles worked out fine. See lots of motor bike exhausts made that way. Any way take care and all the very best wishes to you your family and friends. Tim.

    I've been watching this build from the start and early in this episode is the first time I thought to myself, "wheres the muffler". But I have to say my biggest fear if doing this would be all the work put in to it and there's always the chance it's going to sound like crap. Back in the 70's a friend made dual exhaust straight pipes out of a 4 banger. I can't begin to tell you how horrible it sounded. But what ever it sounds like, it's got enough cool factor from the looks to make up for it if needed.
