I’m 69 and using tretinoin 0.05 for the past year, I have a lot of visible wrinkles on my cheeks from sun damage, I can see about 40 to 50% of the wrinkles have dimished dramatically but of course I would like ALL of them to go! I use Ketrel Tretinoin 0.05, I live in Portugal. I get a script from my doctor. I use a moisturizer 20 minutes after applying tretinoin and therefore I have no issues with dryness or burning at all. My moisturizer is called Rescue by Dr. Organic, a wonderful natural moisterizer. I will now try to go onto the next strength of tretinoin. Thank you for your most infirmative, honest videos, much appreciated.
Thank you. I stopped using Dermaticas Tretonoin because I felt the burning was in fact ruining my skin. I was aware of the burning only lasting a week or so but I found that whatever moisturiser I applied to soothe it, irritated my skin further. You explained everything so concisely and I feel I can now make use of the 4 x bottles I have received in back log from Dermatica (forgot to cancel my subscription)which I honestly thought I would just give away.
I'm definitely going for Dermatica now thank you for the excellent review. I especially liked that you can get more than 4 weeks and can change the delivery date I didn't know that, it certainly makes it more cost effective, when I added up what I'm spending on retinal and other creams I think this will be the same or less.
Glad you found the review helpful. I’ve been really pleased with my Dermatica experience so far. It’s working out around £10 a month because I’m getting two months out of one tube 👍
I have been on tretinoin for 2 months now and before that I used an over the counter retinoid called differin. Tret works way faster and the results are way more noticeable! I was paying about the same for differin anyway- it is $32 here in the US with a prescription. Not expensive at all but you do need a prescription. I am on .025% but hoping to step up to .05 after this tube is done. If you have been thinking about trying it, definitely do it! The results are amazing! I have had zero irritation using it. I apply it on top of my moisturizer (maybe 20-30 min after). You do not get irritation if the skin is moisturized first.
Lil hoppa I went straight into it and I did not change how I applied it. Still on top of moisturizer. I was worried I would have to go through the redness and flakes again but nothing happened at all. I was on differin since 2017 so my face was used to it but if I accidentally used too much, my skin would flake again. It was a very easy switch for me! My differin irritation was a 10/10 bad for the first six months so tret has treated me great so far.
Thank you for the video 👍I used dermatica for nearly a year. At the time I couldn't decide which issue to address as most important to deal with and as I struggled with melasma my treatment focus was that and it helped. Not just with melasma but also with my hormonal breakouts too. However I decided to step back due to never ending skin peeling. At the moment I'm using retinal- nearly done with G&G, and planning on trying medik8 crystal retinal. I will definitely upgrade to tretinoin one day again as it does work miracles when used correctly. Have a lovely weekend 😊
I use tretinoin through my GP, 0.05% is the highest. I have been using it for 6 months, I live in the Netherlands and I am 57 years old. Since my 40 in the menopause and many lines and sagging on the eyelids and cheeks. The tretinoin gave exactly what you had in the beginning, now I can use it every other night. The difference is visible but I hope for more.....Thank you for you're video's.
Thanks Clare for another great video. Your reviews are always so professionally presented! Glad you're seeing results with tretinoin. Sadly we don't have Dermatica (or any similar service) in Australia but GPs will prescribe it. I never had any irritation at all using 0.025% so I'm just about to go up to 0.05%. It costs about 35 pounds for a 50ml tube which is reasonable.

I tried to explain I have been on 0.05 for 11 years. There was no response to any of my emails. My experience was rubbish, would never use them again.
That’s really annoying. I’ve not communicated with them at all other than filling out the initial form on the site so it’s not good to hear their customer service was so lacking for you.
I think you actually have to go to see a dermatologist in person to get more than that am amount. I've used them and I'm very happy. If I want more strength I have to go to my dermatologist to get it
I'm about to start my 2nd attempt and vow to be more patient this time as well as take it slower! My skin honestly just wasn't really bad enough the first try. I got compliments on my skin and didn't really "need" tret, although my skin wasn't perfect. But now?? I'm 50 and my skin has spots and fine lines and I'm ready to get this process started 😂
I'd heard of dermatica and it sounded good but I haven't given it a try yet. I'd actually missed the most important bit: their formula is tretinoin, not retinol nor retinal. I'm currently using Medik8 crystals 6 with good results, but the cost of it (although it lasts me a decent amount of time) and your splendid review of dermatica tretinoin have given me a taste for it now 😊. I'll probably give it a go when I finish my Medik8 tube.
Thank you SOOOO much for this video. I am starting my Dermatica treatment and I wonder if you have any recommendations for the best combination of face wash, moisturiser and other skincare products that work best with tretinoin?
Hi. That's a tricky one because it depends on skin type. Cerave is a gentle, good all-rounder both as a face wash and moisturiser that might help relieve any irritation and dryness in the early days of tretinoin. I have since switched back to a retinal as I kept getting flare-ups of dryness after using tret longer term.
Ive been on Tretinoin for 4 1/2 months now and it’s been one of the best things I could have done for my skin. It’s smooth and it has a glow to it. I moved up to the 0.1% strength after a couple months and have never looked back. One thing that pairs really well with Tretinoin is Red Light Therapy. The Tretinoin helps the light penetrate deeper since it removes the dead layer of skin sitting on the outermost portion of your skin. The red light therapy has given me improved skin textures(smoothness), reduced redness(improved tone), and has tightened up some loose skin around my upper neck. I don’t have much loose skin. I’m a 39 year old male, but it did make a visible difference. Lastly, home Radio Frequency has been the icing on the cake in making my skin tighter and wrinkly free. I use the Newa RF device for home use. They sell to the UK as well. I bought the wireless version, which makes using it a lot more easy in my opinion. The reason I chose the NEWA over Tripollar and Nebulyft, was it;s consistency in temperature, comfort, and radio technology used in it. I;ve owned two Tripollar Stop X and VX devices and they can’t stay at one temperature. They are either too hot to the skin or barely warm at all. Also, the Tripollar treatment heads are uncomfortable to certain areas of the face. LAstly the Nebulyft just didn’t get hot enough. It only gets to 42 celcius at best where as the NEWA gets to 52 Celsius, which is more crucial for stimulating collagen production in the dermis. Thank you for all your videos!
Thanks for sharing your experience - like you I use a combination of tretinoin, red light and RF for anti-aging and am really pleased with the results. Thanks for watching!
How safe is Tretinoin for use if one is in the early 30's? Will it strip away the skin-barrier, or overstimulate the skin? Thank you, love your content! 💯
So glad you're enjoying my videos! Theoretically it's fine to start tretinoin in your early 30s, but if it's for anti-aging purposes I would hold off and use something like a retinal instead which is gentler on the skin. Tretinoin is a strong prescription treatment and can overstimulate your skin. Some experts recommend that you use it just for six months or so to get the benefits and then switch to a high-strength retinol to maintain them which feels like good advice to me.
I started with Dermatic last month, and as a newcomer to actives at the age of 60 I really wish I'd seen this video first! The redness, dry patches and prickly rash have not been nice. I'm going back to 0.015 and will follow this useful advice. A couple of things though... I was told I to only use each tube for a month when it expires, and never to use on avoid the top lip and neck.
Glad you going this helpful, Rosalind. Thanks too for the additional info. I do use mine for longer than a month. It may affect the potency slightly as it ages but I’m still getting great results.
@@thehonestchannel Thank you so much for replying. That helps a lot and I think I'll delay my deliveries as it's expensive when I'm only using it every 3 days at the moment. I'm glad to know your neck and top lip haven't suffered as they're the areas I need most help with!
@@rosalindsoulsby4906 My top lip has been fine and I’ve not had peeling on my neck though I don’t apply much directly there. I am careful to avoid my lips though so I keep the tret high above my lip line as it causes your lips to peel.
You're such a great speaker! Thanks for the video. Enjoy watching your journey as I'm doing mine. I'm one tube through 0.025%. Will do the same strength again and then move up to 0.05%. I can't imagine stepping back from Tret in the future (as your guest speaker Doctor recommended in the other video). I mean, if one is tolerating it well, then why not just continue using it all the way into old age?
Thank you! Will be interested to hear about your results. The question around how long to use tret for is an interesting one and I think it’s good to get different views on this. Dr Qian is of the view that once your skin is activated by the tretinoin and you’re achieving good results a high -strength retinol will pick up where it left off. I think I’ll play it by ear and see how well my skin keeps up with the tret but I don’t plan to drop it any time soon! The results are just so visible.
I saw big results using Dermatica in just 5 months. Faded my acne scarring. Stuck with it for 1.5 years but they kept me on 0.05%, which stopped having an affect. And it made me super oily and breakout. I cancelled my subscription and started buying 20g tubes of Tretinoin online for £25, it lasts for months and at least I can change my strength myself. Now I don’t have issues with oiliness, breakouts etc
Hi. This video is a few years old now but I was using 0.05. I since switched back to a high strength retinal which I use three times a week. Longer term I felt tretinoin was a little too harsh for my skin.
@@thehonestchannel very interesting. Thanks so much. So you think even if you went down on the strength - like 0.025 - it would still be too harsh? Also I was curious what strength retinal do you use? Love your channel! ❤️❤️
@@olga_b344 I actually think 0.025 tret would be similar in terms of results to the 0.1% retinal I use, and I find just using it a few times a week is enough for me but we're all different. My goal is to use an effective retinoid without drying out my skin so whether you're using tret or something else it's just about finding your balance. Thank you for watching the channel and for your support!! ❤
Hi Clare, your skin looks incredible!! How disappointed am I to find out that Dermatica do not include Ireland on the list of country options!! I can only presume that they do not deliver here, which is really frustrating because a 'derm' consult here will cost between 150-200, and even then you are not sure that tretinoin will be prescribed for anti-ageing reasons!! I have followed your lead though and started using Medik8 - I am now on strength 6 with no problems at all - touch wood!!! Also, as per my previous message, I splashed out on the Augustinus Bader face oil and ... I hate to say it ... but after a week of using it with my regular moisturiser my skin feels so so lovely and soft, and people have .. for the 1st time in eons .. started complimenting me on my skin. So a big win there, but it is so flippin expensive ... even with adding it to moisturiser I am struggling to justify the cost on an ongoing basis ... I suppose I will have to see how long I get out of this teeny-weeny 10ml bottle before deciding to sell a kidney 😄 (I have decided to keep the kids!!!!). Do you, or any of your subscribers, know if there is any other company that delivers tretinoin to Ireland .. HELP??? (I would then be able to put my Augustinus Bader oil away .. and keep the vital organs ... for the time being anyway!!). I love your posts .. they are always so thorough and informative (and you present really really well!!). Thanks.
I love your comments - they’re so funny!! It’s so annoying that they don’t sell tretinoin online in Ireland. Seems to be a licensing issue. Hopefully someone will read your comment and come up with a suggestion. The AB oil is great - no doubt about it. I’m only using it around my eyes at the moment because of the cost. Trying to make 10ml last months!!
@@thehonestchannel Thanks Clare, it will be very interesting to hear/see your review about tretinoin in a couple of months .. and the results of the AB oil around the eyes will be extremely interesting .. whilst I am loving AB I am still unsure as to whether or not the 'secret ingredient' may be something that is out there already in some other form/combination, or if I am, with my menopausal brain cell, imagining things .. the No BS Beauty channel reckons that the Drunk Elephant Protini Peptide Cream is a virtual dupe for the AB cream ... so guess what I have just ordered!!! Am such a skincare magpie ... 😃
@@maireadweaver8952 I absolutely believe there will be cheaper alternatives to the AB oil - it’s a case of trying a few out to see what works best. I don’t like paying excessive prices for skincare, but it can be like a needle in a haystack looking for alternatives that are 100% as effective. Be interested to hear how you get on with the Drunk Elephant cream.
@@deebee8197 They may not be allowed to ship there at the moment. It’s a prescription treatment so there are different regulations in each country. I’m not 100% on it, but from what I can see that appears to be the issue.

Super excited. Just finished my Medik8 and my Dermatica prescription arrived this morning!!! I've high hopes. Thank you for all your help and advice. I will keep you posted. ☘️💖💕
I'm in Australia and just went to my gp 2 days ago. I was like "I want to get a script for tretinoin". He was like "sure, it's amazing stuff". I didn't even have to say why I wanted it. I'd practice saying I wanted it for sun damaged skin, since I never wore sunscreen when younger. Lol. I want it more for aging skin though.
Do you feel there was a benefit to doing the retinal before doing the tretinoin, or could you have just gone directly to the lower strength tretinoin and gotten better results sooner? I've not started any retinol type products yet, but am ready to add this to my beauty routine. Not sure which one to begin with.
I think if your intention is to use tretinoin then you may as well start with that but go as low strength as you can and maybe apply it every other day or every few days to begin with just to see how you react, then build slowly. The retinal is great if you don't want to go with a prescription strength retinoid but tret is the gold standard when it comes to results.
My main concern with tretinoin is with sun exposure. I am an outdoor type person and sunscreen only works to a point and I can imagine the deep damage that would ensue.
Yes, particularly in the first six months your skin would be more sensitive to the sun and more likely to burn. Factor 50 sunscreen and a hat or baseball cap should do the trick. But you may not like the idea of covering up.
I would avoid getting tretinoin on your actual lips because it's likely to irritate them but you can use it on the surrounding skin. Be aware that oil-based moisturizers may cause it to migrate to your lips so take care.
Thank you for information on tretinoin, I have been using a brand I bought via internet for the last 12 months, apart from making my skin look whiter than white, it has given me lots of fine lines and wrinkles, despite moisturising my skin afterwards and throughout the day, I'm wondering if the ointment is genuine as it has texture and smell of baby cream, I would like to know 8f anyone else has had similar with tretinoin bought via internet without prescription.
I am in my 50's but I was reluctant to use any type of retinol? my problem is not lines and wrinkles..its alittle sagging....I did try drugstore brand retinol..but i notice that my skin looked good ..but how can i explain this ?? it looks like it sags more..??.i was told that it only getting rid of the top layer and it will build my collagen..underneath the skin....I am always nervous trying any products..
I was nervous about trying tretinoin but it has been a pretty positive experience so far apart from the peeling. What you heard about shedding the top layer and stimulating collagen production underneath is correct. It doesn’t happen overnight though so you would need to stick with it and put up with the initial irritation. It’s not for everyone.
I’m afraid I don’t know about the situation in France. Every country will have its own rules around the prescription of tretinoin and I believe they are tighter in France. You may have to see a dermatologist.
I tried dermatica for a few months - I’ve never suffered with spots but after a couple of months started to get deep spots (almost acne like), Dermatica reduced the level of tretanoin and I continued to try for another Two months - sadly the spots continues and actually scarred my cheeks (under my cheekbones both sides). A shame but I would rather have wrinkles than a badly spot scarred face 🤷♀️
That’s a real shame. I guess the lesson here is tretinoin is not going to work out for everyone. So sorry to hear it left scarring. Hopefully that will fade over time. Thanks for sharing your experience.
It's likely just dryness under your eyes so you might want to apply a little Vaseline first while you adapt - but I would check in with your prescriber who will be able to advise based on the cream you're using and the strength.
@@thehonestchannel great thanks...by the way..i started applying by seeing the videos....not prescribed by doctor...no medicines resolved my acne, acne scars, and pigmentation around my lips

@@thehonestchannel thank you for your feedback! 😊
Another fantastic and concise video, thank you. Just wish Dermatica would ship to Ireland.
Thanks Susanna! Another viewer in Ireland said the same thing. Hopefully it changes soon 🤞
I don’t know if they they ship to Ireland or not but you could check out a quite similar company, Skin and Me.
What’s the website
What strength of tretinoin do you use? 0.5 or higher?
Thanks for sharing! ❤
@@thehonestchannel interesting so in light of that - 0.5% Tret is roughly the same as 0.2 Retinal? xx
Why don’t they ship to Ireland? I’d message them and ask ❤️
@@deebee8197 They may not be allowed to ship there at the moment. It’s a prescription treatment so there are different regulations in each country. I’m not 100% on it, but from what I can see that appears to be the issue.
I’m 28 and have some acne breakouts, been using dermatica for a month and can already see the difference. I’m trying to prevent wrinkles already bc I have anxiety about it haha
Again thank you for another great video. You really explain things so well. ☘️😘💖
Thank you 😊 Always good to hear from you 💕
Clare can you cancel the subscription with them at anytime? The website doesn't give as much info as you. ☘️😘
@@MummyforLife I like to be helpful 😀 You can cancel your subscription any time - there’s a ‘manage your subscription’ link on the website once you’ve signed in and you can you use it to change your frequency or cancel.
@@thehonestchannel Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. I really appreciate it🤗💕. ☘️💖💕💕💕💕
Super excited. Just finished my Medik8 and my Dermatica prescription arrived this morning!!! I've high hopes. Thank you for all your help and advice. I will keep you posted. ☘️💖💕
Can you use red light therapy if you use tretinoin ie the lumo or other devices
I use my Lumo device twice a month and usually wear my red light mask once a week for 15mins. Using tretinoin shouldn’t cause any issues there.
You should reconsider why you're not applying your moisturizer in the morning, especially when using a drying product like Tretinoin.
Wear a hat
Hello, can I use tretinoin around the lip area? I would be grateful for an answer. Very best regards
I would avoid getting tretinoin on your actual lips because it's likely to irritate them but you can use it on the surrounding skin. Be aware that oil-based moisturizers may cause it to migrate to your lips so take care.
@@thehonestchannel Thank you❤️👍
Use moisturizer to avoid flaking & niaciamide serum , spf
Thank you for information on tretinoin, I have been using a brand I bought via internet for the last 12 months, apart from making my skin look whiter than white, it has given me lots of fine lines and wrinkles, despite moisturising my skin afterwards and throughout the day, I'm wondering if the ointment is genuine as it has texture and smell of baby cream, I would like to know 8f anyone else has had similar with tretinoin bought via internet without prescription.
That doesn’t sound good, Margaret. I think you may well be right about it not being genuine.
What strength tretinoin do you use?
Does there treatment help with spots on face
Yes, it can help with acne. You might find this article helpful www.healthline.com/health/tretinoin-for-acne
Wise decision once your skin gets used to it you will see massive benefits 😁
Hearing from you and others how big a difference it was making inspired me to make the leap : )
Or get a ryan air flight to Spain get 1 % tretioin over the counter and have a nice day out
Started today, 😊
Hope it works out well for you!
Do you know some tretinoin in France ? and maybe you know when Dermatica will be in France ?
I’m afraid I don’t know about the situation in France. Every country will have its own rules around the prescription of tretinoin and I believe they are tighter in France. You may have to see a dermatologist.
Vous pouvez avoir avec l’ordonnance, prescrit par le médecin
Tretinoin has a purging phase
I feel like wrinkles on my under eyes!!! And worried!!!! Is that also the process?? Please respond me
It's likely just dryness under your eyes so you might want to apply a little Vaseline first while you adapt - but I would check in with your prescriber who will be able to advise based on the cream you're using and the strength.
@@thehonestchannel great thanks...by the way..i started applying by seeing the videos....not prescribed by doctor...no medicines resolved my acne, acne scars, and pigmentation around my lips
The tretinoin 0.05% that I got today, came 10 days too early from dermatica and its yellow and not creamy white like yours? Someone please help?
I haven't used Dermatica for a couple of years now after switching back to retinal again so it may be that they've changed the formula. You can drop them a message via their website.
You are gorgeous
Thank you 😊
Does Dermatica tretinoin contain antibiotics? I've read that long term use with this ingredient is not ideal?
I have a huge pore on nose, hoping the .05 helps.
It should do - especially given time.
Is this a paid add by Dermatica or a real review?
A real review!! I buy and pay for Dermatica as an ordinary customer.
@@thehonestchannel 👍thank you for replying!
I’d like intros to videos to be outlawed.
Lol you are late to start. Wasted all your years
Buy retin a o.o5 better no need to spend money too much
