From what I hear people just agree that he was planned for the game but removed somewhere during development due to all the purple and if I remember correctly in the handbook, there is a purple bunny insinuating that he was here at one point

As a kid I thought there would be a 4th character there i later used hacks to check out what's behind the 4th door it's literally nothing from what I can remember

You have to get 7 white rabbits, I think they spawn after you beat the game, and behind the door is an extra star. Hope this helps!

Well it wouldn’t make sense. To switch to Yoshi from Mario, Luigi, or Wario, you just had to go back through their door again.
