I think part of the reason why so much space is given to the story of Peter in this chapter is that it is such amazing testimony. This was a series of stunning miracles that really did happen, and Christians needed to hear about it for encouragement in the faith.
In my life right now I could use Herod as a metaphor for cancer. And whether our story is that of Peter or James, we will continue to trust in The Lord and His providence.
