- Solo Winter camping in the mountains in the back of my truck. The overnight temperatures fall below freezing and I cook my meals over the campfire bushcraft style.

I am not one to normally comment on videos - your artistic use of sound and the way you captured some of the solo aspects of your trip were fantastic. I really felt like I was experiencing this as I watched. This particular video IMHO could win awards for the way it was captured, curated and edited!
I second that Mark! This video is brilliant!! 👍👍❤️❤️😊😊
I am so glad I’m not the only one who thought this was a master class in “less is more!” I can’t imagine any dialog that could have added anything to this beautiful experience. You captured the magic of contemplative isolation perfectly! It was good for my soul.
Fantastic video. Relaxing. Immersive. Well done David… well done.
Beautiful video, David! Thank you
My cousin, Chris recently passed away. He lived in Albuquerque, NM and loved to go up into the mountains to camp and fish. So many of his friends and family spoke about this at his funeral this week. Your video is so well done and brought me such peace as I watched it and thought about Chris. Thank you so much for putting forth the time and effort to produce this wonderful video. I’ll be sure to share it with my other family members.
👍😃👍 on "Man Skills", from a Grunt 👍😃👍
Using the tree bark to hold your fire starter is brilliant simplicity. I will definitely use it thanks. Once that white stuff on the ground goes away. CHEERS!
You started a fire!!! After years of watching, this warmed my heart. Excellent vid.
Hahaha yeah! Can you believe it?!?!
This was excellent. I love it told the whole story with no words. Beautiful editing. Looking forward to more adventures!!!
Your content is excellent! I watch 3-4 of your videos per day and I am learning a lot.
You've created a excellent resource.
Keep up the good work! 👍
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
Freezing ASMR David... 🥶❄️ Stay safe out there.!
This David, is what you should be doing now. Cinematic videos with the sounds of nature. You might have to invest in a mic/wind muff that really tackles wind. Also, for a seriously cinematic look, 24p at 48 shutter speed is very effective.
One last thing, you should look up a channel called Bertram Bushcraft. He films himself bushcrafting, never saying a word or using music and it's amazing. So cinematic! His best ones are from 2 years ago and older. But since he took a hiatus, you won't have to scroll too much to find them. Seriously, if you read this comment, check him out. He will inspire you in this endeavor you're doing.
Keep this going, David. You're on the right track.
That was an amazing experience. Following a beautifully shot and edited story, it was that moment at the end that really got me. That moment where you took one last look before leaving. I cannot say how many times I’ve done that before leaving a campsite or place I’ve enjoyed.
Thank you for all the long hours you put into this wonderful craft of yours.
D.
Excellent night sky shot!
BEST VIDEO EVER!! Seriously!!
Thank you!
I like your solo adventure videos. The supplemental shorts are nice also.
Very cool.
Thanks Scott! I got another good one coming out Sunday morning 🙂
This is well done, man. Your filmmaking skills have improved.
Been watching you guys for a couple of years. This is one of the best videos you've made.
That was awesome :) !! loved the video
Thank you! Many more videos like this one to come!
Very different direction for your channel. It was done well and you’ll learn as you go. Way to stretch your creative muscle’s 👍
Thank you Amy! I learned a lot from filming this video and the next one coming out in a couple weeks is going to be even better!
This style of video reminds me of Cahd with Living The Van Life. If you had talked to the camera at all if this video I would have sworn you both have the same creative mindset
Love your videos
Thank you!
Spent my lunch break in the mountains of Nevada, thank you David.
Great video my friend. You know, you sure have changed over the years. You seem so much more relaxed and in your element now. Cheers from Texas!
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing. 😊
You're welcome Beth! Thanks for the kind words.
Possibly one of your best videos yet. While we love your narration and story telling with Roe, the silence and tranquility of this video was beautiful!! Please keep up the great work! Ken & Chris “We RVery Blessed”
Thank you Ken! Yeah I like this style a lot more, I feel talking in videos interrupts the vibes too much.
I loved the SAWING sounds in the background of the "B" roll! ! ! LOL
Hi David, I wanted you to know my husband and I have watched your videos for a while now. This new direction you’ve taken is absolutely outstanding!!! Keep up in this direction. It shows how much you love this craft!
While you video the surrounding while you are in it - make sure we can still see you without obstruction (your tri-pod).
Well done!!!
Francine - Keith!!
From Ohio
Thank you Francine I'm really glad you like the new direction I'm taking the channel!
SERIOUSLY David this video is absolutely amazing from start to finish! I want to thank you for sharing this with us. I am at a total loss for words on how great this is. You not only conveyed a story but you conveyed an experience! The best 23 minutes and 8 seconds of time spent in my day today. This video reminded me of Erik Grankvist. He is in the Swedish wilderness and has a UA-cam channel I subscribe to along with 588K others. He never speaks a word. Have you seen any of his work? If not, you should check it out. This video demonstrates how truly talented and creative you are! I really hope you continue to astonish us with your work and bring us along on many more wilderness experiences. All the best and safe travels!
Wow! Thank you for the awesome comment Gary I really appreciate it! And no I haven't heard of Erik Grankvist but I'll give him a watch! Thanks again and have a great week 😀
So its took going solo to get you to make a campfire. This works Davey, you're amazing. It's like watching a Kyle's Cabin. Another young man we admire.
Haha well I gotta cook my dinner/breakfast somehow right?! I dont have my kitchen stove out here 😅🤣 Thanks a lot for the kind words I really appreciate it 🙂

Someone has become a filmmaker. I love it. I almost passed up the video but so glad I didn’t so I could see your awesome film. I know how much work must have gone into it, and it was sooooo worth it. Thanks….
Didn't care for the Silent treatment... Great Video! ! !
Not to detract from the conversation about the impressive new style of videography, but could you please provide a link to that amazing self contained saw of yours?
Here is a link to the saw I bought! I love it. It is so light and cuts through wood real easy! amzn.to/3N6Tswf
Liking this truck camping with a touch of bush crafting video. Please do a gear list video and how you set your truck for overnight for this winter at least. Figuring as the seasons turn the load out will change.
I'll make a gear video once I'm done figuring out my setup. I've only done this a few times so my load out is still evolving.
I hope everyone took heed of how you managed the fire in the end.
Yep! With forest fired being as bad as they've been in recent years I don't take any risks. I put my fires dead out.
..cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you…
Love where your going with this. Keep it up. 👍
Dude, Alone In The Wilderness... This should be on PBS
It's the sounds, the crunch of gravel, the saw working, the crackle of the fire and the water. The camera work is excellent as well but that audio editing is world class
Nice to see some you two are still at it! (still jealous)
Beautiful scenery, beautiful cinematography, beautiful silence!! Just beautiful ♥️
you should return to rv life
Looked like a fun little camping trip. It’s nice you have the long bed on the truck and the camper shell. Instant tent, great security, and protection from the weather. Perfect little setup. Hope Roe and the kids are doing good. Don’t keep us waiting so long for the next one 😉
Great video
Thanks!
What a perfect spot.
Although we miss your other half in the videos, it was a wonderful experience and thank you for taking me with you again.
Just keep them videos coming and God speed.
Yes what have you done with her?
Roe is working a regular full-time job remotely that keeps her busy. David is running the "show" solo now. He made an update video with further explanation not too long ago.
@@LauraMichellez do people really want to see just him? Doesn’t it change the whole dynamic, purpose, feeling of the show with just him? Just him:( ...............?
Why not just take a “vacation “ together if that is what’s needed......
It’s kind of like the Lucy show with only Desi and not Lucille Ball.........not the same show...
Is it about money? I don’t know how these UA-cam shows work ,if there’s money to be made or not......maybe?
So is she just staying in the trailer as he ventures out
Many YT relationships work this way.
Hope
She has a Garmin Inreach!
This video was very calming. Great work!
The flint and steel fire starting was impressive... but you're not on Survivor... stick a BIC in your pocket! 😄
Yay !
Beautiful spot for a campsite there young fella. Very pleasant video.
Beautiful relaxing & calming video. I've been watching your channel for a couple of years! Well done, David! Keep up the good work. Maybe we will see the whole family next time. Sweety could have gotten a couple of rabbits for dinner, ha!
Great video David keep the videos coming life has its ups life has its Downs you will get through what you're going through
Amazing David. Do it!
Amazing work, thank you for great quality sound aswell!
Enjoyed the video, thanks,
Well done!I hope you will do more of these
Excellent video. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great video, I loved how peaceful it was. Happy Adventures 🗺
Wow, great video David, I’ve done exactly that and it is a truly unique experience.
Thank you Randy!
That was a great video. Really captured the solo camping experience.
Thank you! 😊
Outstanding video! It was an experience not just a viewing. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Wayne! That means a lot to me!
Very well done, David! Thank you very much for sharing the beauty of the spot you chose.
Thank you Carrie I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
That was really really good David! Im super stoked for more of this!
Fantastic video! I loved the story you told, even without words. Well done.
Thank you I'm glad you enjoyed it!
This is the good stuff! Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome Laura! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
beautiful
Wow that was different.
You had absolutely perfect weather in a perfect, peaceful location. It was lovely to watch. Thank you!
Thank you 😊 I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Good job! Someone has learned a few tips from "Living the Van Life"
Is that another channel? I've never heard of them.
The videos have improved a lot in the recent videos👏.
Definitely a thumbs up for this one 👍
One of the best videos I've seen on UA-cam. Awesome job David!
Gorgeous cinematography in this one! Really nice job!
Thank you so much Tina!
Different video for you but I like it. Beautiful camping and so quiet minus the jets. Must be an Air Force base near.
I really enjoyed that video, we’ll done!
That was a really cool video. I needed a little peaceful and that fit the bill.
Impressive work to pull off that many angles and keep the continuity tight. Especially in those first few minutes. Nice work!
Really out did yourself presenting such an awesome camping outing. Loved everything! Thank you for including an important step before you leave, properly putting out a fire to keep nature safe. Looking forward to more videos.
Thank you Kathy I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah with all the forest fires in recent history I'm not risking anything. I put my fires dead out.
Beautifully done!
Thank you Kathy!
Your video skills have come a long way and you truly ROCK at it! FAB-O "B" Rolls! ! !
great video. more creators should do these types of videos.
Really nice job capturing some of the natural beauty out here in Nevada. Can’t wait until our next camping trip!
David you’ve got it!!! This was beautiful. Very well done…. ❤️
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Gayla 😊
Great video, loved all the sounds, very artfully done. Hi to Ro & the fur babies.
Thanks Marcy! They say hi 👋 back!
Great content. Very much enjoyed the video. I think some drone shots would be cool. Just an idea. I know they are expensive. Keep up the great work!
Thanks JD! And I agree, drone shots would have really upped this video's game. Believe it or not I forgot the drone and by the time I realized it I was already 2 hours and 100 miles away from the travel trailer. What a facepalm moment that was!!
Nice job! I like the beauty in all things great and small. You really nailed the videography on this one. Thank you
Great video David. Love the quiet, solitude life but surely miss Roe and Sweetie on this one.
Thanks Denny! Sweetie and Roe are in the next video that comes out this Sunday morning
LOVE this style of film art! Great job 👏 Thanks for the hard work getting all those angles and ‘b-roll’ was beautiful.
Wonderful video. Glad to see you out in nature. Your videos are so much better out in nature, plus I like them more. :)
Thanks! Pretty much all my videos will be like this moving forward.
Very good production, keep it up!
Thank you!
It’s a new style of video for you, but it’s so well done!! Keep it up and the views will come flooding in
I'm seeing a modern version of 'Into the Wild' here... :)

Thank you for supporting the channel ♥ If I've done my job I've inspired others to chase their dreams!
Very nice video and editing. When I seen the snowy mountain images, It reminded me of "True Grit".
Wonderful video. I dont know how you got any sleep with a view of the night sky like that. Hope yall are doing well.
Brilliant all the way down to the raspberries hitting the oatmeal, the journaling shots, the branches, the fire, the ice, the bark. The sound of onion, peppers sliced. The pacing was amazing, no words but you told a whole story! This is the best you've ever done. I am totally blown away!
👏👏👏👍
Best wishes in your new venture. We are moving to Florida and full-timing in a trailer ourselves.. 1400 sq ft mobile home that is!
Looking forward to camping in Florida's state parks in our 2018 Casita. Not a fan of silent movies though!
I'm establishing an observatory in central Florida, maybe you can mooch dock and learn some astronomy!
As much as I enjoyed this vid a few words would of been helpful to just help navigate us thru your trip. That being said the vid spoke more than words to me. Great job. Please do more of these trips but chat with us so we can learn where ur at!
Why 6 Raspberries instead of 7?
Great great video! Thanks! So talented sir. Nice skillet too! What skillet is that?
Thank you hank! The name of the brand is Thyme and Table but I'm using a cast iron skillet while camping now.
Were those walnut pieces you were putting in the oatmeal? I've never tried that before, but now it has me thinking. I normally go with honey and cinnamon.
Great video, David.
Heck yeah, walnuts go so good with oatmeal!
@@FateUnbound Going to have to try that sometime. All I have right now are pecan pieces (for pancakes), but I do love walnuts as well.
Might want to consider a battery powered small chainsaw.
I already have one but what's the fun in that 😄
Keep these videos coming. Wasn't digging the "top ten things" videos and stopped watching.,bring back the old style.
This is what I will be filming from here forward, except I plan to make it much more epic and more cinematic 👍
@@FateUnbound AWESOME MAN! Definitely will be watching now. Also experimente with different meals to keep it interesting.
