If you put the wheel in and it squeaks when you push it it’s probably the abs sensor touching the rotor. @@ToniReviews Thanks for that tip too! Just finished putting in the new brake rotor (EBC MD873X) and wheel speed sensor was indeed rubbing on the ABS rotor for about 1/6 th turn. The Haynes manual specifies an air gap of 0.4-1.2mm so my 'special shim' was a 1/4" zinc-plated washer that happens to have a thickness of 1mm. Started on the brake pads now and doing battle with the grub screw hiding the retaining pin. Edit: Finished the job. Didn't seem very different on a short test ride at low speed around the suburbs. Will see how it feels as the new rotor and pads bed in. Cheers! Edit a day later: Took the bike for a longer ride today (60kms) at some higher speeds (90km/h) and I can feel the difference. While it's definitely an improvement, I would describe it as incremental rather than life-changing. My old rotor was worn below 5mm so it was definitely worth doing for me. Interestingly, I can now hear a faint 'fluttering' noise from the front wheel above about 20km/h and the pitch increases when I apply the front brake. Did some reading and it's apparently quite a normal observation with new EBC rotors and especially HH pads. People variously describe it as a humming, buzzing, whistling, clicking or cicada-like noise. I'm the first to describe it as a fluttering noise - woohoo! Hopefully, it quietens down as the new parts bed in - it's surprisingly noisy.
Great video! I upgraded to Brembo SA brakepads and new brake fluid. It is a massive improvement. Still the long brake line to the ABS pump in de rear of the bike is not great, but I can live with it.

I’ve thought about upgrading the front break to Brembo on my 2016 but it’s a lot of money.I am goin to try braided HEL lines to see if that makes a difference first.
Hi Rachel. Let me know how the braided lines go, I’d be interested to hear. I’m not sure it will make too much of a difference, I think it’s the very poor Nisin callipers that’s the main issue.
I totally agree. I went for a ride on the 2019 model, was absolutely fine. So when I bought my 2017 model 2nd hand I was shocked at the braking ability. I think the pads have definately made the biggest difference overall. The floating disc has also added some stopping ability, but the pads are what made the biggest difference. safe riding
good review! I have de same bike, and same bad front disc, I think that Triumph fix in the t100 and streetcup this disc of the review for problem of temperature and low brake. I have the front disc a little darkblue colour, and think that don't brake now same. For me is a big failure of Triumph. I want change the front disc, i have now only the pads,but think the disc is a little warped for temperature, and the wafe help. But i see new EBC wafe front disc... is a good idea too. regards!
Yeah the sintered pads are a good upgrade option to start and the floating front disc has also made a small improvem,ent, but the biggest improvement was simply the pads.

Do you Remember If you had any trouble with noise when you replaced the Front Pads with these EBC Double H? I tried a set on Mine Street Twin (2016) and I got an annoying continuous Cicada-like noise when the motorcycle starts to Move. I also noticed that @2:13 you did not use those metal plates (shims) that are installed with the stock front pads, any reason why?
Hi. No I had no noise from the pads, I’ve continued to use these pads evertime I service the brakes. If you have a squealing noise coming from the discs I’ve found it’s the abs sensor rubbing on the abs rotor.you have to make sure there is enough of a space and not overtighten the sensor as it runs and causes a squeal. Also these pads didn’t come with a metal back. They came like this. I usually use some copper grease very lightly on the rear of the pad to stop any noise. If your getting a noise my first check would be the abs sensor
@@ToniReviews i didn’t even remove the ABS sensor when I change the pads, there’s no need to do that. The noise go off when I switch back to the OEM pads, so it’s definitely the EBC pads that are causing this noise. The shims that I mentioned are supposed to be there with the stock pads, you then re-use with the new ones. If you maybe have a haynes manual there is a photo of these shims in the brakes section.

Hi fred. It was a little while ago now that I upgraded the disc but I think it was eBay but via a genuine triumph dealer on eBay. Just had a search on eBay and I can’t find the same model for that price, but similar ones seem to be rrp at about £150. To be honest the sintered pads made the biggest difference! This is very detailed! I want to change the brake pads on my 2017 Street Scrambler (I believe it is the same Nissin brake system as the Street Twin), however, I cannot figure out what the appropriate sizes of the pads are. Any clue?
Hi. I usually buy my parts online and sellers will usually detail if a part is compatible with your bike. I believe the scrambler anbd street twin have the same Nissin brake calipere but the front wheel size differs on the scrambler. I think the front wheel is slightly larger. I just looked online. Difnt upgrade to the Brembo as it was around £600 so just upgraded to a floating disk and sintered pads. hope this helps
