In 2020 about 95 million Americans didn't vote. Since we've known for many decades now that conservatives almost always vote, we know that the vast majority of those non-voters lean to the left. We need to change that, and get these people to start voting.

I was a lifelong republican and went back where I came from after they handed it to Hillary, but for 4 months, I was a democrat so I could caucus for him. While volunteering for him, I realized a better strategy is to get voters voting for him, not non-voters voting. It worked well in my red rural district. Low interest voters tend to be low information voters that go by name recognition. They are more likely to vote for Trump than anybody good.

Wars have varying causes. The Iraq war, as Bernie rightly suspected, was an aggressive, hasty action. At that time, there wasn't even support from most of the traditional allies of the US. On the other hand, in Ukraine the people are defending themselves from Putin's actions. He's even tearing up the Donbas, which region he claimed was being mistreated. If he cared so much about Russian lives, he wouldn't be destroying Russian speaking people's towns, killing them, or sending the mother country's young men into war. Completely different conflicts, although both had/have the effect of harming a generation of young people and civilians caught in the middle.

As a citizen in a nation far away from the fighting, I can only take limited action. I have sent about 15 cards and will probably send more. Even if it doesn't do anything, at least I am continually reminding the Russian Ambassador that we don't admire the attacks on Ukraine or see them as "glorious" or "brave". In fact we see them as tragedies for all involved - for both the Ukrainian soldiers but also for the Russian soldiers who get used to prop up Putin's career.

I usually side with Bernie on many issues. On this issue, a correct posture can not be reached by judging the incursion of Russia into Ukraine's territory. The current issue is the NATO aggression surrounding Russia when the Soviet Union imploded in 1990. The US and Europe decided to continue to expand eastward by continuing a cold war policy of containment against Russia. Russia reacted by invading Georgia and annexing a strategic part of it to create a buffer zone. The US then staged a coup in Ukraine in 2014 to oust a Russia-friendly government and replace same with a US-friendly ally. This new government passed laws prohibiting the use of Russian in Ukraine prompted the cessation of The Donbas Republics. A civil war ensued which ended with THE MINSK AGREEMENTS. These agreements were not honored by Ukraine and attacks against The Donbas region were frequent. The Ukrainians killed 14,000 Russian-speaking Ukrainians. Recently, Ukraine amassed over 150,000 soldiers near the Donbas area. Russia intervened to pacify the attackers and create safe corridors for the Russian-speaking population to find safe harbors. NATO IS NOT AN INNOCENT BYSTANDER!! The US and NATO do not want to end this war. Contrary to the hypocrisy, The US benefits from higher-priced liquid gas. The US loves to arm all of Europe. It is a great business. The goal is the further dismemberment of Russia so that a more united front can be waged against China. Europeans will suffer. Russians will suffer. Above all Ukrainians will suffer more than the rest of the world. The solution is the establishment of a new security structure for Europe and the world. The solution is predicated on recognition by The US and Europe that we are not in a unipolar world. Western dominance of the world is over. Until this realization is accepted, Russia, China, India, and every other emerging nation will suffer from THE SCOURGE OF THE LAST 500 YEARS. BUT I THINK THAT THE NEW WORLD ORDER IS ARRIVING SOON. As someone who volunteered for Bernie, and even spoke before Bernie in one of his rallies, Bernie's foreign policy has been absolute garbage recently. From Venezuela, Nicaragua, now Ukraine. I'm an Englishman living in Stockholm area. My opinion is that if Russia attacks Finland and Sweden, then Russia would head straight to Stockholm first , take control immediately of the city and the government, the rest of Sweden would collapse, doing this would leave Finland surrounded thus making it easier for Russia to invade Finland. Russia will act swiftly , and Sweden should not underestimate the threat's being carried out. Life in the Baltic's is going to change. I was a lifelong republican and went back where I came from after they handed it to Hillary, but for 4 months, I was a democrat so I could caucus for him. While volunteering for him, I realized a better strategy is to get voters voting for him, not non-voters voting. It worked well in my red rural district. Low interest voters tend to be low information voters that go by name recognition. They are more likely to vote for Trump than anybody good.
Ukraine had a government structure and culture for over 200 years before Russia had a government structure and culture. They have been their own country for much longer than Russia.

Wars have varying causes. The Iraq war, as Bernie rightly suspected, was an aggressive, hasty action. At that time, there wasn't even support from most of the traditional allies of the US. On the other hand, in Ukraine the people are defending themselves from Putin's actions. He's even tearing up the Donbas, which region he claimed was being mistreated. If he cared so much about Russian lives, he wouldn't be destroying Russian speaking people's towns, killing them, or sending the mother country's young men into war.
Completely different conflicts, although both had/have the effect of harming a generation of young people and civilians caught in the middle.

As a citizen in a nation far away from the fighting, I can only take limited action. I have sent about 15 cards and will probably send more. Even if it doesn't do anything, at least I am continually reminding the Russian Ambassador that we don't admire the attacks on Ukraine or see them as "glorious" or "brave". In fact we see them as tragedies for all involved - for both the Ukrainian soldiers but also for the Russian soldiers who get used to prop up Putin's career.

I usually side with Bernie on many issues. On this issue, a correct posture can not be reached by judging the incursion of Russia into Ukraine's territory. The current issue is the NATO aggression surrounding Russia when the Soviet Union imploded in 1990. The US and Europe decided to continue to expand eastward by continuing a cold war policy of containment against Russia. Russia reacted by invading Georgia and annexing a strategic part of it to create a buffer zone. The US then staged a coup in Ukraine in 2014 to oust a Russia-friendly government and replace same with a US-friendly ally. This new government passed laws prohibiting the use of Russian in Ukraine prompted the cessation of The Donbas Republics. A civil war ensued which ended with THE MINSK AGREEMENTS. These agreements were not honored by Ukraine and attacks against The Donbas region were frequent. The Ukrainians killed 14,000 Russian-speaking Ukrainians. Recently, Ukraine amassed over 150,000 soldiers near the Donbas area. Russia intervened to pacify the attackers and create safe corridors for the Russian-speaking population to find safe harbors.
NATO IS NOT AN INNOCENT BYSTANDER!! The US and NATO do not want to end this war. Contrary to the hypocrisy, The US benefits from higher-priced liquid gas. The US loves to arm all of Europe. It is a great business. The goal is the further dismemberment of Russia so that a more united front can be waged against China. Europeans will suffer. Russians will suffer. Above all Ukrainians will suffer more than the rest of the world.
The solution is the establishment of a new security structure for Europe and the world. The solution is predicated on recognition by The US and Europe that we are not in a unipolar world. Western dominance of the world is over. Until this realization is accepted, Russia, China, India, and every other emerging nation will suffer from THE SCOURGE OF THE LAST 500 YEARS. As someone who volunteered for Bernie, and even spoke before Bernie in one of his rallies, Bernie's foreign policy has been absolute garbage recently. From Venezuela, Nicaragua, now Ukraine. My opinion is that if Russia attacks Finland and Sweden, then Russia would head straight to Stockholm first , take control immediately of the city and the government, the rest of Sweden would collapse, doing this would leave Finland surrounded thus making it easier for Russia to invade Finland. Russia will act swiftly , and Sweden should not underestimate the threat's being carried out. Life in the Baltic's is going to change. Russia wants control of the Baltic's...for the benefit of their Naval force.

Pointing out how we got here is just being intellectually honest so we can stop making the same mistakes. We've been letting a small group of oligarchs bring us to the brink too often. We can't even address a literal meteor headed our way (climate change) to destroy society or vaccinate the world to stop a pandemic in it's tracks. We let them blame us for problems they create.
Media shoves their bloodlust and corruption on us. We need leaders with more wisdom like Barbara Lee who was able to vote no on Afghanistan through all the noise. It's time we have the same wisdom because the same oligarchs who cause all our problems will pounce again here. They'll lobby for a close to 900 billion military budget, stealing more public money for weapons systems that are not needed or don't work. Russia disrupted our society for 6 figures on Facebook.

I urge you to send a beautiful card to the Russian Embassy in your country, saying that you care about the Ukrainian soldiers and civilians and also the Russian soldiers and civilians. @@robertnicholls9917 Now don't get me wrong, there is no symmetry between the left and the right in this regard, as there is no one on the left as prominent as Trump, Le Pen or Orban who would support Putin. Sadly there are some groups on the left, in the Western countries in particular, who see everything as a consequence of American imperialism. As a Polish leftist I find this somewhat annoying, as it presents the societies of Central and Eastern Europe as mere pawns of the US, not as people with agency and right for self determination.
