i’ve always had traxxas r/c vehicles most of my adult life. got my step dad into them too. he bought that exact boat and passed away before ever trying it out. he was a huge fast boat guy. he built a 1500 hp pickle fork 1976 hondo drag boat just for fun on the lake. it was a monster. i sold it when he passed cause i would’ve killed myself. blown 429. most beautiful boat i’ve ever seen. also inherited my moms traxxas stadium truck. so fun!
Bought a Traxxas Spartan 10 years ago when first produced. Got a factory discount at that time. Ran 5000 mah nickel metal hydride till last year( batteries failing due to age). The connector on one battery developed arching causing damage resulting running on one battery found on close examination. Changed out male connector on boat. If running lipo or nickel metal hydride I recommend changing to at least 6 mm bullet connectors on boat and batteries to lower resistance and improve performance. I switched to 3s 5000mah batteries with bullet connectors. I have 4mm but should switch to at least 6mm. Learn how to drive well before going to full throttle. Use wide turns. 200 yard straight always and 100 yard turn radius. Use hatch tape or Scotch tape sealing cover well especially stearn (back of cover) as water will catch and enter at finger lifting area fillings boat with a lot of water. Good luck. Have fun.
I'm assuming you know this but I'm going to tell you anyways just in case you dont. It is HIGHLY recommended to get yourself some nylon break away screws. You can get a package of 5 for $8 from Horizon Hobbies, part # PRB285000. Traxxas doesn't carry them. The reason I recommend them so highly is because if you snag your rudder off of something in the water, it will either break your rudder mount off of the hull completely or mangle your rudder. The break away screw each costing $1.60 will save you a lot of heartache. Definitely, definitely worth purchasing before even first run, but never to late to purchase period. As far as the plastic prop goes, you will be fine running a Hot Racing prop or something similar. My buddy has the M41 and he broke both props (the one on the boat and the spare) in 3 runs. When he got his boat, I gave him one of my spare break away screws and last weekend that exact screw literally saved his boat from destruction. He caught a log that was floating just below the surface and the break away screw did it's job.
The cooling water is moved by pressure at the rudder inlet, it then flows to ESC and then flows around the motor via water jacket, then out the exit port. No pump involved.
I’ve always wanted to try the deep haul, but I haven’t had the chance and I do own the M41 Snap-on and it’s actually really stable and extremely fast also !! Good choice on you purchase ! Keep up the Great Work and Vids, Stay and Play Safe !! 👍✌️
I got a Snap On edition about a year ago at a garage sale. I haven't had it on a lake yet but, I found a 30 ft. swimming pool just doesn't do! However, in that short distance, mine didn't seem to have the same power. Also it doesn't have the same trim tabs. There is a rear splash bar available that I'm going to get to stop the water from coming in the back when slowing down too fast.
A really good video and learned alot about this boat and very helpful thank you it's my first time boating and I would like a good experience and I'll have a better experience from watching this video
This made me want one!!! I don't even mess with boats! i was looking at this a couple days ago, now i may just buy one, LOL....HA>>>HA!!!! I gotta get one! my wifes gonna get upset. LOL
Awesome, Not a fan of plastic prop, and you might want to take the advice of break away screws on the rudder, and transom mount. Looks like it's got some Power though. Awesome
you said it a lot in your video, but im gona say it again, that boat flies man, i love it, today is my first watching one of your videos and i decided to subscribe man, i mean you record so good bro i jus love this video
Gr8 video thumbs up.... The boat is good but it is slightly overpriced i bought one boat from banggood that cost me 450$ with two 3s lipo and i can easily touch 60 mph easily but traxxas is no doubt a ferrari of all other Rc's brand
Have you experimented with props , yet? THE Grim Racer is more stable at hi speeds + 50 MPH . and up , and look also into a less lifting prop. I would also experiment with a slight negative angle on the strut . IT may trade a few top mph , But it will keep it more stable on the top end. Otherwise , Awesome boat. THE "motor sound tells it all. Nice ride.
I bought my spartan 5 years ago, only problem I had was not maintaining the motor, I always took apart the boat and dried off and cleaned everything, but I never put marine oil on the motor where the bearings are and it ended up locking up on me, luckily it wasn't on a river or something, I haven't added any upgrades either but I'm surprised traxxas hasn't tried to correct the issues this boat has, but they change the paint scheme lol
i just order the traxxas spartan today and it says it going to be delivered Tuesday i cant wait until it gets here because i got a pond right out my back door were i can drive it and with bass like 36.56 OZ and bluegill and redear sunfish and mud catfish
I had this boat for 5 years before I sold it ( life changes) this thing with 6s Lipos and the right rudder and powertrain and this thing can get way out of hand in speeds xD
Oh my god that looks fun i wanna get one i have the Traxxas Xmaxx, jato and X0-1 but i think i'm going to get into boats looks fun. Imagine if you mod that Spartan to run 8s that be sick! but by then you probably would have to put some fishing weights in the front to keep the boat from flipping over or keep the nose end from popping up.
Its unstable at high speed, it needs a water jacket and an extra water line for dual water pick up as the motor gets very hot. Get longer stabilizer fins for better stability.
Nice boat, I have the Blast and the Villain, but I'd most like to have the Nitro Vee. Unfortunately it's not being produced for some time, if it had been, I'd certainly buy it.
I just had to comment It was just funny the way you through the warranty card..=0) It made me laugh thanks. I just wonder how many people really send them in and if there is a problem will the company stand behind their warranty card? To fix their product?
Great video, very detailed but could you tell me how much it costed for you to get the boat, batteries for the boat, AND charger if you even got one? thinking of getting one but I have a budget
Good video, helpful just wondering if you can help me out i have one(rock n roller).I flip it and now lost everything even signal, when turn on the boat like it comes on as it should??Thank you
It will chine walk less at full throttle if you lower your stinger angle. It will still do it, but it will be much more stable. I'd make very small adjustments, yours appears to be only slightly too high.
Tack on a less lifting prop, OCTURA .M448 , as the X series, have higher lift, than, the M series , medium lift props. I'm running a CNC .442, and lays down nice. THE . M will give you better er stability, as you will lose a bit of speed. It's a better trade, off , than a boat , that is right on the ragged edge, when it gets 50mph. Chine walking, than out of control.
Awesome video my friend, i also own a traxxas spartan and run it with 6s and its hard for me near impossible to go full throttle. As soon as a little wave hit the boat it will take off like a airplane. I bought a new shell + upgrade parts from rcboatbitz and hope with the bigger trim tabs and the other things i did to it things go better.
Very nice video! I was thinking of buying a racing boat from Traxxas, i looked around a bit on black friday and ended up with the Proboat Blackjack 42. But since i am a beginner i also purchased the Fei Lun FT011 and it looks awesome. Incredible speed for it's size and remarkably steady in the water as well from videos i have seen of it. Now i only have to wait 6 months to dive either one of them. Running them on ice in the winter is a bad idea :)
i love my Spartan but would love if Traxxas would make a mini version for pools and small ponds. something about 15 inches or a little less would be perfect.
What type and size of 3s batteries did you use including « c rating »? The reason I ask is because I noticed your boat is faster than mine and the only difference is that I have Traxxas 5000MAH 3s, 50c batteries and you don’t. Thanks.
man..... I wish I would of never seen your video..... now I have to get one. been looking at all kinds of boats just never pulled the trigger BUT NOW!!! I have a HPI Savage 4.6 truck and always wanted a boat now I know what to get. great video and well detailed! 6S the way to go it looks like. the Lipo's come with the boat itself?

If the goal of this video was to make me want one... Mission accomplished!
I've wanted some of this kind of stuff but 😥 it is so expinsive, only kind of people lot of cash can buy
I’m dead 😂
@@khingbandiala37 check out the Vector sr80 I bought that one it's fairly cheap and it's a absolute monster!
Try the m41. It seems to be more stable

Lane Waite is this on the rudder itself or the hull?
You are SO right! I did this two years ago and it saved me twice. A small step prevented disaster. SO SMART!

Great vid. Awesome boat. I currently have the oxidean marine mini dom. Another great boat.
You know the deal ud rc👍
The best unboxing video I’ve seen in a long time
Absolutely need one of these and I live on a mountain
Nice boat

one thing you should do is remove the drive cable and lube the cable. I didnt do this and it burnt up the cable housing

nice boat but why american company dont want to makeing it own R/C traxxas boats
I have around $2000 in my spartan. I love it! It's not stock anymore that's for sure.
$2000!! What did you do to it?
@@beckcity16 My thoughts exactly.
Ok
Also wanna know what you did to add up to 2k lol
If you put a good engine, esc, and good batteries, may be need near of 2k
Tape the hatch. Dont go slow as motor and esc dont get cooled
Thank you for your time and awesome review
Very informative vidio,A reverse bar really helps with water take on,I love it&the Boat over all,I am very satified plus scary fast
My eyes were on the goose the whole time to see if it would move.
GOOSE I THOUGHT THAT WAS A TURKEY!
0.30 AS THE GOOSE/TURKEY HAS NOT MOVED IT MIGHT BE DEAD OR MAYBE REMOTE CONTROLLED AND NOT CHARGED!

Looked like 100 yards out or more , great video
This spartan has nice colours 🌈😏💥
Great video as usual, love your videos. Would like some more stock Traxxas Slash 2wd videos.
Some stock mudboss races are coming if he uploads them from florians world of rc.

I like this one .

Great Video, Traxxas doesn’t disappoint
You can lower the pitch of the propeller to keep the nose of the boat down and it will handle so much better

hi great vid !! does the water come inside the hull if you dont put tape and only close it with the back clip ?
Can we have a non short of you jumping the waves behind your boat
It's a shame there are none of these available!!! I have looked all over.
Our local hobby shop has one left (pink/orange) and holding it for me. :)
Call your local shop and ask. You never know!
No, you got lucky, Get a real R/C boat like a Aeromarine Laminates
What happens if the battery dies while in the water? How do you recover. Does it allow it to save enough power to come back to shore?
You should get on the lake at sunrise, water calm as glass. I bet you could see full throttle runs. That thing moves for a v hull!!!!
