Hey man if you put the crank gear seal backwards will it still seal on the gear or so I have to split these cases back apart and switch it? Hope you reply soon.
Im having a hard time finding the O-rings that come on the hot rods crank. They are on the inner bearings (the red item too). There are no part numbers on Hot Rods site and when I called them they could not find a part number. The O rings on my crank are in pieces. Not sure where to go from here...
When working on this Yamaha, you would want to use Threebond 1211, Yamabond 4, or other similar type sealant. So since its on hand you would want to use that. Not regular RTV silicone .
thanks much. first time replacing crankshaft seals on a banshee. i take it theres absolutely no way of replacing those seals without splitting the case? thanks again
duane speck No there isn't because the seals have a lip around the edge that sit in the case. You can flip the engine over and just pull the lower half. You'll just need to raise the crank out of the case enough to get the seals on it. I always split cases properly though. Can be done in about 4 hrs from running,to split and back in the frame running again. A first timer should be able to do it in one day is think.
Do the cases have to be separated to pull the crank gear off a assembled motor...im switching to straight cuts.
Nope!
Whats the best way to pull it off the crank
Necesary remove cigueñal for change retain ???? Or yes change disarm alone plastic cover lateral ??

What kind of grease is that? Will any rubber grease do?
Dont forgot the bevelled washer on the water pump gear as it gives pressure when torqued to keep it together
