- Welcome back to our basement finishing project! We finally turned that wasted space with the bathroom ejector pump into a canning storage room! It is perfect! James built the perfect shelves to hold all of our canned goods and they are so strong! Every square inch of this space will be used to store all of our canned foods and canning supplies. Being organized makes us function in a much happier state on our homestead. Happy homesteading!

I see there’s no ring around the lids, I’m new at this but is it ok to not use it?
You only have the rings on during the canning process, but take them off to store them. Leaving them on during storage can hide a false seal, and residue that gets under the ring during canning can mold and/or attract pests. Moisture can get trapped under the ring during canning, leading to mildew and rust/corrosion of the rings. I hope that helps!
Great job! Looks great. I would have never guessed that shelf would have held all those jars. I didn’t hear you mention maple syrup. Did you all use it all?

Exactly...there are so many canning recipes to try maybe in small batches...then add a bigger batch later...custom made food!

We are just used to putting things right side up....but then we could visit the toilet paper roll discussion 😂 it looks super good...feels good when we get projects done❤
