Great video. I replaced my radiator a couple years ago without taking the front bumper cover off, but it looks like I'm going to have to take it off for this job. Dumb design but its great that you made this video to show how to work through it.
Hey great vid. I know you touched on it but I need a little bit more clarification. Now, I'm not sure if there's a leak or not in regards to my condenser but I looks pretty banged up from the front. I'm just wanting to replace it for that reason. But, I do know that my A/C doesn't work and the compressor doesn't kick in either. I've had the system charged at least twice and it only lasted about 2 days if that. Should I drain anything in my case?
+bjohnsonutube I would make sure that the a/c system is completely empty none the less just incase. If you have a set of a/c gauges you can verify it and then if no pressure....remove the lines. You may also be able to press in on the shrader valves for a quick second to see if anything escapes. To be safe and 100% sure a set of gauges would be recommended. I have a 2006 Dodge Charger sxt 3.5l and noticed a strange noise coming from the engine. I noticed my power steering pulley was chipped as if it were hitting something. After looking at it some more I noticed that my ac compressor clutch had a weird wobble as well and after turning the car off melted plastic was noticeable. Would this be the whole compressor failing?
Hey great video!! Question for ya: I have an '08 Charger, tried to recharge the a/c (using A/C PRO), and smoke (smells kind of like burning brakes) starts coming from the passenger side of the car, up near the washer fluid tank. I can hear a "hissing" noise, but can't pinpoint any leak. The a/c still doesn't work, as I stopped trying to fill it! The car has 140,000 on it, and I don't recall EVER having the transmission fluid replaced! Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated!!
finding that leak is important. That will be the first step. It depends on what you have to check with.....I have been known to put air in the system in worse scenerios and use soapy water in a spray bottle to isolate a leak. You can put dye in the system as well or use a "sniffer" to help isolate the leak. It sounds like it could be a bit obvious with you knowing the general location, smoke, and hissing sound. I would take some time and try my best to see if any cuts in the hoses or anything broke loose. There is no one place I can tell you to check. Thanks for watching and for the question

The video is very helpful. How ever you should nothing to do with how to remove the A/C lines disconnected from the A/C condenser you don’t warn anyone of the dangers of removing the lines if you don’t first evacuate the Freon. So it truly makes the video useless for removing the A/C condenser

Hello I have a question. I have 2006 charger my Ac works bad some days and not at all others blows at 70 degrees sometime other days it blows at 85 I have checked freon it does not have a leak what causes this both cooling fans work. Compressor does turn. Thanks for any info.
It will need to be checked when the system is not working properly. That would include monitoring the pressure with a guage, checking for codes, and watching the operation of the fans. The fans will come on when the a/c pressures get to a certain point.

hi i just wanted to know if you can help me out a little. i have a 2009 dodge charger 5.7L and it was leaking coolant from the radiator so i replaced it and was fine now theres coolant coming the the drivers side bottom corner of the ac condensor. Does that sound right?
+Robin Potts You need to make sure it is coolant not trans fluid for example. If you believe its coolant then pressure test the system to see where the coolant is actually coming from. You may need to remove the lower belly pans to see if you can locate the leak better.
thanks for the video... i'm trying to recharge the ac system and trying to determine which port to use// i have 2 that sit next to one another (1)one that faces up attached to skinny metal tube and (2)one that faces down attached to a thicker metal tube thanks in advance
The larger tube close to the coolant bottle with the fitting pointed almost straight down....that’s the low side port where you add Freon. It’s one of those jobs I recommend having a professional check if possible to see of that’s your issue or if something else is wrong. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe
Will it negatively effect my transmission if my AC condenser has leaked out. I am asking because in the video you said the condenser is also the transmission cooler.

@@realistmw There will be some fluid that leaks out....mainly what was inside the cooler. So in the end I highly recommend having the trans fluid checked and most likely....some added. The amount will vary.

Its hard to say with out checking all the modules for codes and performing a cool down test using a test on the higher priced scanner. Now when it comes to pressures.....its not accurate to check the system based on pressures only. It can tell you a few things for sure.....but is the system 100% at the correct level of freon....it wont tell you that, evacuated and recharging with the exact amount is the most accurate method obviously . Also making sure the radiator fan/fans is working correctly is important as well. I havent seen an ambient sensor go bad on that model yet but anything is possible. Typically if it did then a code would get set. I wish I had something to point you towards but there is nothing common coming to mind.....only the above mentioned items needing to be checked. If so will I lose a lot of trans fluid from the lines after I disconnect them? Is there a certain procedure for the trans fluid after the install of a new condenser? Thanks for the help.
JRomero8686 Thanks for the question and for watching the video. Yes the procedure will be the same. The amount of trans fluid loss will be slight. Being that you have a NAG automatic transmission, you will not be able to check the trans fluid level unless you have the special tool needed. The reason whay there is no trans dipstick is that the fluid is checked based on the trans fluid temperature and you need a scanner to read the trans temp and then compare the marks on the special tool to a chart using the temp as well. Most dealers will check the fluid level free of charge if you ask nicely. You will not lose enought trans fluid to cause any shifting issues, but still have it checked to make sure its at the proper level. +juan gallo It is the same body style.....I think it should be the same procedure. As far as the Freon.....yes, you need to remove the Freon first before replacing the condenser and then recharge it after the repair is complete. The trans fluid will need to be checked as well once done. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe.
I'm trying to remove the air condenser on a 2016 charger sxt because it got damage but I don't know how to depressurize the ac lines to get it off any tips on that?
Only way is with an a/c recovery machine....actually its the recommended method. That way the freon can be saved and reused once the repair is complete. I have to tell you the safe and environmentally friendly method or I wouldnt be doing my job. Hope you fully understand. Email me when you get time....david@motorcitymechanic.com and remind me about the repair.
My 2010 challenger got hit by a deer condenser is gone there's going to be pressure in the lines I disconnected mines and Freon spilled out be carefully wear glasses and get a microfiber tower put it on the line it will leak out or you can buy a recovery AC machine but 300 is too much in my opinion
Many thanks! As far as the wrench....the lines have quick connects on both ends that dont require a wrench. You just have to release the clip and then pull the line out. Now you can use a wrench to remove the quick connector but again.....no need, the lines comes off with out removing it. Thanks for asking and for watching. Make sure to subscribe.
@@MotorCityMechanic I have a question. What if my brother tried to replaced my radiator and the idiot removed both the upper and lower lines off condenser. However, instead of using the tool for taking off lines he unscrewed them and air came out of the bottom one and a green oil substance came out of the upper. Or Visa versa. Now ac isn't working because compressor clutch ain't spinning. What can I do?
What is the issue? Are you saying that there is no cold air? The only reason to replace the a/c condenser would be if its leaking and no reason to replace the expansion valve/block unless the valve is sticking which is rare. Sounds like you have other issues such as a leak somewhere and low on freon or other issue. Thanks for asking and for watching. Subscribe and check out my other videos.
If its leaking for sure replace it.....not seeing the reason for the expansion block/valve personally. I think you will be fine with just the condenser.
I have a 2008 dodge charger 5.7 Liter. I have a leak of transmission fluid on the passenger side, checked the trans pan and all hoses, no leaks. Condenser is gunked up so would I be right in saying that it needs to be replced. Car also in limp mode
If the fluid gets low it can cause a limp in for sure. Its not unheard of for the cooler/condenser to leak. If you do see a "wet" spot there and the fluid is low.....I would recommend replacing it. Thanks for the question and for watching. Make sure to subscribe Marvin and enjoy the weekend.
Its funny that you asked this question because about 30 minutes later I was doing an airbag recall on a 300 which is the same set up and during my quick inspection I found the trans cooler portion of the condenser to be leaking. Appreciate you following the channel and for being loyal!
MotorCity Mechanic Wow how ironic. Glad u were able to catch that. Thank u for providing such great content for these vehicles. I love my charger and its tuff to find easy step by step videos like urs. Have a great weekend
They make a tool but I have found that a simple pick will work to remove the line clips. Just make sure not to lose them and reinstall them once the line is removed.
bryan9274 Thanks for the question Bryan. It really depends on the reason for the condensor replacement. If the condensor had a hole and was leaking or if your replacing it because you had the transmission rebuilt or replaced ( condensor also has a trans cooler built into it) then I would say no. The only time I flush an a/c system is when there was a failure with the compressor which means possible metal now in the system. Make sure to subscribe and help spread the word by sharing the videos. Have a great memorial day weekend!
There is a chance that the freon level is getting low. I recommend having the pressures checked to see if low and if so.....checked further to see if any leaks.
My ac works for about 2 hours then quits. A shop said something about replacing the expansion value since he thinks there is a block somewhere. Any ideas
lmao, i was removing the radiator and i wasnt paying attention to what i was removing and i accidentally removed the very bottom portion of the AC condensor line? how hard is that to replace or refill, nothing was damage when i loosened up the line it shot out white smoke, assuming it is the AC Fluids?
Dave Box You can surely pick them up at your local dealership parts department. The price per is about $5.00 over the counter. I have seen some in the local parts stores as well in their "help" section which Im sure is cheaper. I have been known to use plastic rivets as well. Thanks Dave for the question and make sure to subscribe and help spread the word by sharing these videos with others.
Ray Callis afternoon. Sorry but I don't. The procedure is about the same....you don't have to remove the bumper cover and you do have to unbolt the condenser from the radiator. Then the upper radiator mounts are removed and also make sure the fan assembly is removed. Then lean the radiator towards the engine and then up out of the engine compartment. You can remove it directly out the bottom as well but there are a few more steps. If I do have one come in the shop....I will try to film it. Make sure to subscribe so that you get notified when I do upload new videos such as that one.
Ray Callis going out the bottom is pretty sweet. If you have access to an a/c machine than I would think about possibly removing the Freon and then dropping the radiator and condenser down together as a unit. The lower radiator support unbolts. Most of the time I have the bumper cover off doing other repairs when I do it this way. Should still work with the bumper cover on.....but surely all the lower air dams would need to come off to gain access
Ray Callis What I meant about the Freon was that I remove the Freon from the a/c system, unbolt the a/c lines and then drop both the radiator and condenser together....still bolted to one another.
Two things need to be done.....first thing is to have the a/c pressures checked and the second is to check the vehicle for codes....mainly in the HVAC module. It will take a special scanner to access that module. Most code readers can't. There is a chance that there could be a HVAC doors or actuator.....accessing the HVAC module could show that
+MotorCity Mechanic well I disconnected the top freon line. I have everything back together now. and I have heat and a warm blow when running A/C.. what could my problems be?07 DODGE CHARGER 3.5
+Casey Whitson What repair were you making as far as having to disconnect the top Freon line. What issues were you having before? I need to clarify so please excuse.....you did have the system recharged with Freon correct? I have to ask.
+MotorCity Mechanic my fan broke and cut my radiator. and I was told you have to take off the front bumper to get access to the radiators. so during all that. I disconnected the top freon line, trying to get enough space to get my radiator out and it blew off all the pressure. no, I have not taken it to get it recharged. I guess what I'm asking is, do I need to get it vacuumed and then recharged at a shop. or can I just go buy a bottle of A/C pro & recharge myself?
+Casey Whitson that would be okay if you were topping off the freon but your system is empty. A vacuum needs to be pulled on the system in order to remove the air and then recharged. I had a video on the radiator replacement. Wish you had found it before so that you didn't remove the line. Thanks for the question and for watching the videos. Make sure to subscribe
Roy Quesada I could have made the video twice as long.....but like I mentioned in the end, installation is just the opposite of removal. Same steps just in reverse. I felt there was no need to dragging the video out for so long to show the exact same steps. If you can remove it.....you can install it. Thanks for watching Roy
Roy Quesada my apologizes on that. On most vehicles it’s around 1oz. I have found over time that being that the oil collects in the drier.....replacement of the condenser without adding oil has no affect or causes no damage. I will keep that in mind for future videos and try to add info such as that. Thanks again for watching and for the comment

Loosen up little by little I think u gonna have to buy new Freon but tht ain’t no problem
Hey, appreciate all your feedback and videos. May I ask what size wrench used to remove trans cooler lines?
My email is scooby_831@sbcglobal.net please contact me there just in case they don't give me a notification that you gave a answer.
I was told to change the Ac condencer and expansion valve due to hot air being blow out the system...does that sound correct?
What is the issue? Are you saying that there is no cold air? The only reason to replace the a/c condenser would be if its leaking and no reason to replace the expansion valve/block unless the valve is sticking which is rare. Sounds like you have other issues such as a leak somewhere and low on freon or other issue. Thanks for asking and for watching. Subscribe and check out my other videos.
MotorCity Mechanic i was told its leaking and the air is not as cold ...
If its leaking for sure replace it.....not seeing the reason for the expansion block/valve personally. I think you will be fine with just the condenser.
MotorCity Mechanic do you have a video to install the new condensor
I have a 2008 dodge charger 5.7 Liter. I have a leak of transmission fluid on the passenger side, checked the trans pan and all hoses, no leaks. Condenser is gunked up so would I be right in saying that it needs to be replced. Car also in limp mode
If the fluid gets low it can cause a limp in for sure. Its not unheard of for the cooler/condenser to leak. If you do see a "wet" spot there and the fluid is low.....I would recommend replacing it. Thanks for the question and for watching. Make sure to subscribe Marvin and enjoy the weekend.
MotorCity Mechanic I am a subscriber and avid watcher of ur channel. Thank u so much for ur input.
Will the limp mode automatically go away once the condenser is replaced or do I need to do sumthin special
Awesome video man, what is the name of the tool to remove the lines from condenser.
Thanks a bunch.
They make a tool but I have found that a simple pick will work to remove the line clips. Just make sure not to lose them and reinstall them once the line is removed.
Do you have flush the system when replacing the condenser ?
bryan9274 Thanks for the question Bryan. Hi david
My car is 2014 dodge journey, and the AC compressor engage and disengage repeatedly. what is the problem.
thanks
There is a chance that the freon level is getting low. I recommend having the pressures checked to see if low and if so.....checked further to see if any leaks.
thank you a lot

My ac works for about 2 hours then quits. A shop said something about replacing the expansion value since he thinks there is a block somewhere. Any ideas
Did you ever figure out what it was? My car does the same thing.
Need to put in title sub model.. 3.5 sxt would been nice to know
It’s the same for all engine sizes…..nothing different. That’s the reason for not including that info. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe
to put the new capacitor. even challenger 2012 is intalarlo or qle q q have to aser the new capacitor

lmao, i was removing the radiator and i wasnt paying attention to what i was removing and i accidentally removed the very bottom portion of the AC condensor line? how hard is that to replace or refill, nothing was damage when i loosened up the line it shot out white smoke, assuming it is the AC Fluids?
Once you get it all back together.....you need to take it to a automotive shop to have the a/c system evacuated and recharged.
MotorCity Mechanic is there a way I can do that myself? Or would you recommend having a mechanic do it?
@@RaptorVlog Its something I recommend a mechanic do if you never have or dont have the special machines to do it with.
MotorCity Mechanic is it a special machine or can I buy the refrigerant? Or is that not the same?
@@RaptorVlog You now have to remove all the freon....pull a vacuum......and the recharge the proper amount. Machine is the best method.
Hey do you have an idea where i can get those bumper pins alot of mine broke off
Dave Box You can surely pick them up at your local dealership parts department. The price per is about $5.00 over the counter. I have seen some in the local parts stores as well in their "help" section which Im sure is cheaper. I have been known to use plastic rivets as well. Thanks Dave for the question and make sure to subscribe and help spread the word by sharing these videos with others.
O'Reilly parts
I hope this works because if it doesn't work I'll be dead because I'm like almost dead by swet
You got this. Just take your time.
hi do you have a video on how to remove the radiater? i have a 2008 dodge charger R/T
I work at a dealership so I will have it on the lift. Is it easier to take out from the bottom or top?
Ray Callis going out the bottom is pretty sweet. If you have access to an a/c machine than I would think about possibly removing the Freon and then dropping the radiator and condenser down together as a unit. The lower radiator support unbolts. Most of the time I have the bumper cover off doing other repairs when I do it this way. Should still work with the bumper cover on.....but surely all the lower air dams would need to come off to gain access
MotorCity Mechanic Ok. Yea there's no freon just water. I'm replacing the radiater on monday. Thank you for your help.
Ray Callis What I meant about the Freon was that I remove the Freon from the a/c system, unbolt the a/c lines and then drop both the radiator and condenser together....still bolted to one another.
Thanks for the vid Bro!
Thanks for checking it out and for the comment. Dont forget to subscribe
my 2008 dodge charger 2.7 stop blowing cold air lines get really cold and it blows air but it comes out hot any one know what to do or what is it ?
Two things need to be done.....first thing is to have the a/c pressures checked and the second is to check the vehicle for codes....mainly in the HVAC module. It will take a special scanner to access that module. Most code readers can't. There is a chance that there could be a HVAC doors or actuator.....accessing the HVAC module could show that
thank you ;)
Your welcome!
can you give me info on my charger?
+Casey Whitson Evening, what info are you needing:
+MotorCity Mechanic well I disconnected the top freon line. I have everything back together now. and I have heat and a warm blow when running A/C.. what could my problems be?07 DODGE CHARGER 3.5
+Casey Whitson What repair were you making as far as having to disconnect the top Freon line. What issues were you having before? I need to clarify so please excuse.....you did have the system recharged with Freon correct? I have to ask.
+MotorCity Mechanic
my fan broke and cut my radiator. and I was told you have to take off the front bumper to get access to the radiators. so during all that.
So it was not a replacement as posted..it was just the removal..
@@MotorCityMechanic
Problem with that is there is no mention of adding pag oil to the condensor. I think that is crucial information
