Very fun nostalgia trip! Enlightening too. I remember watching a ton of these in a row and being really impressed, but I have to agree that it just doesn't hold up to your current projects as well anymore. Marble Mountain really feels like the spiritual successor to this series, taking some similar ideas and executing on them with more finesse. The amphitheater was one of my episodes, though, and I'd love to see a modernized version make it into one of your projects!
So glad you watched! It was a fun project and I do really miss building in an 80s style - even if it’s just to use the music. I’ve penciled in an amphitheatre build for MM :)
as much as the game has changed so much that a lot of your first work was really rough, it was your channel and Springwood specifically that got me into the modded game! I still rewatch some of the episodes alongside Marble Mountain when I'm looking for inspiration for my own cities.
Not gonna lie man, it was this city that inspired me to go down the rabbit hole of urban planning and become the city planning major I am today. Appreciate all the great videos and 10/10 commentary - keep up the good work!
Even though Bordertown was the city that got looked hooked on your channel (and C:S builds in general), I can't deny beautiful Springwood looked when it was in is prime. It's sad to see it in such a decrepit state now, and its disappointing to hear it won't be revisited again. At least you are no longing getting those "Why is everyone driving on the left" comments for good.
The Surfwood neighborhood looks like the Brightwood neighborhood in northwestern Detroit, except with no trees. The whole town gives me a run-down, partially abandoned L.A. vibe
Some of the buildings disappearing makes the areas look more realistic. Like there's urban decay. Please continue this series!!!! You gotta complete the gaps in the city. Even if its only 2 or 3 more episodes or a livestream!
Been here since around EP07, incredible how far the game and your projects have come since... lovely blast from the past, still one of my fave skylines cities
I remember when this first came out and think that this guy had some talent and his videos were really good. So glad to see you still enjoying this game and making videos because I love them. Its also cool seeing/hearing the similarities between Australia and New Zealand when your building (im from NZ)
I still remember when the first episode dropped where you went through the concept, I'm not sure I saw it on day one, or even month one, but it was early on and boy did I fall falt for your video editing style and city building, and there have been few times I've disagreed strongly. They happen, and that's what keeps me interested honestly
I found this channel again and i grew up with springwood i could practically say and hearing the 80s ring in the beginning it’s kind of just insane hearing it and seeing this city again
That was great. I wasn't subscribed back then so it was all new to me. Living in Texas it is great to see the Astrodome pop up somewhere. You were even incredible a designing back before the game had even caught up with you. I was shocked to see the Downtown Dallas landmark Reunion Tower pop up in Coney Island. The incredible copying of areas all over the United States is amazing until you see the traffic and realize that all of the cars are driving on the left side of the road.
Kinda nostalgic seeing the airport again, I saw that way way late in my recommended one day. It was definitely the thumbnail that hooked me in, since I recognised the entrance of the tunnel to the one I'm so familiar with in Sydney. Can't say I'm very invested in Springwood as I've only watched Sichuan Province and Marble Mountain, but it's a good throwback to the first ever video I saw from you!
I found you when you uploaded the last episode and I had to go back and watch the whole series, love your work man, a true inspiration to all us amateur builders 👍
Great to see Springwood again. I binge-watched the first episodes after @Strictoaster mentioned you in one of his vids. After that i have been a somewhat loyal follower of your Skylines vids.
I started watching springwood one week ago for the first time. And booom. I have got a notification that a new video of springwood is here. I was like WHAAAT what a coincidence 😅 and here you are. Nice work anyway
This was a really unexpected trip down memory lane. So much is exactly as I remembered it and some of it is... not as good as I remembered it. I don’t really know how long I’ve been subscribed, but it’s definitely been since early Springwood. This was a nice bit of nostalgia.
The Venice Beach episode is the one I found you on! I thought (still do) it was a super unique way within the restrictions of the game to build something clever. Would love to see more of that stuff in Marble Mountain. Great work 2$20!
Just discovered your channel. Great content. High quality editing. Surprised you haven't blown up more, it's definitely in the cards for you if you keep this up. Wishing you the best!
Wow has it been that long? I can't remember what episode I saw first, but I never realised I've been a sub for that long. Keep up the good work mate and I hope the little one is letting you sleep a bit!
I don't know, I think you're going too hard on yourself, Springwood is a legendary build in the whole Cities Skylines community. It really doesn't look that bad. Yes there are some places that needs improvements but they are very little, the city is spectacular, I mean it. Also, I really felt sorry for the disappointments you had about your videos, but now look at you. 85k people watching you, admiring your work and waiting new episodes to come out. Those concert builds, parks they are all so outstanding, I think you just got a bit unlucky with those videos. Anyway man, don't worry about your past bad memories. You're in a great place right now. You're even a father now dude! You will make many awesome stuff in the future, I believe it. Take care!
Man I remember Springwood, and had to rub my eyes when I saw the notification from your channel. This was the series that got me hooked on your creativity, and I've enjoyed watching you progress to Border Town, Marble Mountain, Sichuan (by the way, when will you return to this series) and Miami. Great content as always and appreciate the look back. Please do a revisit on Bordertown, that was one of my favorites.
@@twodollarstwenty Somehow I missed last weeks video on Sichuan Prov, but will check it out. Hopefully it doesn't spell the end. By the way, congratulations on the new kid!!
I miss Springwood as much as i miss Bordertown. Both great series. Maybe now is not the time to revisit them, but who knows, maybe in a few years, when the game will have changed even more, it will be fun to revisit and replay (repair) parts of it.
Crazy how long ago this series was... And still even without all the essential mods we got now, it still looks good, cant even remember a time without move it, Intersection Marking tool, node controler and all the other mods
Just found your channel and it’s nice to see your starting point, so you gained one more sub. I’m an old SIM City convert just starting out with CS. Love your channel, eh?
This was great, man! I've really missed Springwood. You building Mt Springwood was one of the first Cities skylines videos I watched and the project certainly played a part in getting me into playing the game with mods. Don't know if you were considering doing this for any of your other older builds: Osahra, Mulubin, Broken Hill and the like?
THX for the recap two dollars twenty. But I am a little bit shocked to here that you will not continue with springwood. It always was, and still is, your best city in my opinion. This level of detail and realism is much better then in marble mountain, i think. And also is springwood the only project of yours that is feeling like a real BIG city. I miss that. Marble mountain is looking like a childrens toy-city compared. You pulled some builds out at springwood that are far better then anything you did since then. Starting at episode one with the fishmarked and later the canals and the suburbs. And the comercial blocks near the downtown area.... Much more realistic then anything in marble mointain. I just feels like a real city. It felt really like LA in the 80s... And I love the 80s theme...
It was actually this build that got me into watching UA-cam videos on CS in the first place - your intro, the retro 80's feel and realistic graphics. Clearly mods/assets/your technique has come a very long way since then, but you're too hard on yourself mate, your Springwood build is still worlds apart from your average CS gamer.
The Coney island area where you have the board walk and the theme park reminds me of GTA 4 down at hove beach where you have the abandoned theme park, I say it reminds me of it because where theres assets missing it looks like its beginning to be ripped out. I absolutely love it though 👌
Hey 2D - you mention of the desire sometimes to build Sydney, but Melbourne is screaming for you to provide it a cities skylines build. Keep it up, from London ✌🏼
unfortunately i stopped watching after springwood, and i only remembered your channel a few days ago so its perfect timing for me to take a trip down memory lane
I don't know, everyone says this was his first, its bad bla bla but I think it looks as awesome as marble mountain. Actually maybe even better than marble mountain. I mean Sprimgwood is a legend in Cities Skylines man.
I think I've been around since at least EP3 or so. I remember bugging you about those korean apartment blocks near Coney Island.. Sorry about that mate..
Morrisons is a British Supermarket. Speaking of which, I'd love to see you do a city based on UK citys. A mixture of London and Manchester would be cool.
27:55 I'm still watching And I'm too new to know this, but it's nice to see the progress compared to Marble Mountain (and how much outdated mods mess up the game)
You keep calling it so bad, and I'm still thinking how much better it looks than any of my cities! hah
The sad thing about springwood is that it was so close to finished, if all those msising areas where filled in it would have been amazing :D
So glad you watched! It was a fun project and I do really miss building in an 80s style - even if it’s just to use the music. I’ve penciled in an amphitheatre build for MM :)
I agree. I do remember him making these episodes a few years ago.
as much as the game has changed so much that a lot of your first work was really rough, it was your channel and Springwood specifically that got me into the modded game! I still rewatch some of the episodes alongside Marble Mountain when I'm looking for inspiration for my own cities.

At least you are no longing getting those "Why is everyone driving on the left" comments for good.
Long back is good and shows how far you have come in the last four years. Well done $2.20
The missing assets make it look like Detroit
Can’t even have virtual assets, you can’t have shit in Detroit!
I agre
The Surfwood neighborhood looks like the Brightwood neighborhood in northwestern Detroit, except with no trees.
The whole town gives me a run-down, partially abandoned L.A. vibe
NIce trip down memory lane. I watched you build this city. You have come a long way now. Your talent just blows me away! Take care my friend.
Some of the buildings disappearing makes the areas look more realistic. Like there's urban decay.
Please continue this series!!!! You gotta complete the gaps in the city. Even if its only 2 or 3 more episodes or a livestream!
I like you... A lot...
The series that i was introduced to this channel from, bow your my favourite cities skylines channel!!
I love the 80’s theme so much so seeing that intro made me so happy.
This was the series that got me into both the game, and detailing it. This series influenced the way everyone builds cities
Been here since around EP07, incredible how far the game and your projects have come since... lovely blast from the past, still one of my fave skylines cities
The best thing about documenting your C:S work on UA-cam is you can rewatch videos even if the city doesn't work anymore
I miss this series, please bring it back!
Edit: IM BEGGING YOU
I remember around 2 years ago I watched the episode with the fish market and was amazed at what was possible to make with this game
ikr
29:34 Meanwhile I play with below vanilla distances for everything in one of my cities. Nice to see you give the city one final tour 🙂
I remember when this first came out and think that this guy had some talent and his videos were really good. So glad to see you still enjoying this game and making videos because I love them. Its also cool seeing/hearing the similarities between Australia and New Zealand when your building (im from NZ)
I'm relatively new to your channel, even your first city is so impressive. love seeing the growth too
I still remember when the first episode dropped where you went through the concept, I'm not sure I saw it on day one, or even month one, but it was early on and boy did I fall falt for your video editing style and city building, and there have been few times I've disagreed strongly. They happen, and that's what keeps me interested honestly
Thanks for sticking around 🙂
I found this channel again and i grew up with springwood i could practically say and hearing the 80s ring in the beginning it’s kind of just insane hearing it and seeing this city again
Omg when this popped up on my feed I thought I had gone back in time. So amazing to see this again. The dream city and where it all started
I like spring woods and the nice eighty's vibe, you have here, very cool, build.
Springwoos Airport was the first video I've watched on your channel, since then I'm addicted to all your 2,20-Cities Skylines Videos!
I started watching your channel based on this series - my all time favourite to date. I loved this stroll down memory lane - thank you!
This was the series that first got me hooked to cities skylines, thanks for the trip down memory lane!
I love your Santa Monica. It is so good, I was there a couple months ago and you astonished me with how good u recreated it.
I've been watching since about 200 subs, Its a real throwback to see springwood again😀
Ive been watching since 1 subscriber
That’s amazing thanks so much for sticking around!
I think if I remember rightly, it was the episode where you worked on the Airport that led to me subscribing to your channel
I started watching springwood one week ago for the first time.
And booom. I have got a notification that a new video of springwood is here. I was like WHAAAT what a coincidence 😅
and here you are. Nice work anyway

I still think my favourite series of yours still is Spring wood
Just discovered your channel. Great content. High quality editing. Surprised you haven't blown up more, it's definitely in the cards for you if you keep this up. Wishing you the best!
Love to be back in Springwood
I remember I watched this series and then stoped watching and now I rewatch you
Wow has it been that long? I can't remember what episode I saw first, but I never realised I've been a sub for that long. Keep up the good work mate and I hope the little one is letting you sleep a bit!

Springfield was where I found you! Thanks for being epic!

Thanks for the longtime support! Sichuan prov is most probably finished. Check the update video I made last week
@@twodollarstwenty Somehow I missed last weeks video on Sichuan Prov, but will check it out. Hopefully it doesn't spell the end. By the way, congratulations on the new kid!!

This intro gives me vibes. Seen all episodes and loved them all :)
Crazy how long ago this series was...

I love all Ur work, great to see Springwood once more
LOL Yeah Morrison's is basically a UK Woolworths or Coles matey. Thanks for the Springwood tour!
The intro brings back so many memories
aw man the good old days! cant believe this was like three years ago
Just found your channel and it’s nice to see your starting point, so you gained one more sub. I’m an old SIM City convert just starting out with CS. Love your channel, eh?

The Coney island area where you have the board walk and the theme park reminds me of GTA 4 down at hove beach where you have the abandoned theme park, I say it reminds me of it because where theres assets missing it looks like its beginning to be ripped out. I absolutely love it though 👌
Here's an idea; the Miami-like resort town South of Saint Marie should be named Springwood in honor of your first city.
I always come back to this video for inspiration. Such a great video my guy
Thank you! I’m actually revisiting Springwood in a month to make a similar video. But don’t tell anymore 😊
Oh man, I remember I stayed on episode 2... Ah the good old days
Yessss, feel the nostalgia flow through you
I vote for a nice airport entrance for Marble Mountain! (Yes I made it that far in the episode lol)
Never thought that i would see this masterpiece again
I don't know, everyone says this was his first, its bad bla bla but I think it looks as awesome as marble mountain. Actually maybe even better than marble mountain. I mean Sprimgwood is a legend in Cities Skylines man.
You had it right the first time, there is indeed a Luna Park in Coney Island.
Man, this brings me back
4:17 "all the vehicles driving around should be pre-90s"
meanwhile there's an A80 Supra in the parking lot lmfao (from 1993 at the earliest)
you did overall a good job!!! if you search cities skylines and look at low view count videos. This is head and shoulders above those.
The series that started all this.. Still remember watching them
I think I've been around since at least EP3 or so. I remember bugging you about those korean apartment blocks near Coney Island.. Sorry about that mate..
Hehe I remember 😁
Your airport is awesome!
And of course your city
OMG, this is my favourite series dude!
Wow it has been a while. That intro is nostalgic
Morrisons is a British Supermarket. Speaking of which, I'd love to see you do a city based on UK citys. A mixture of London and Manchester would be cool.
This is your FIRST?!?! Lmao my first had industrial on zigzag roads that were flooded next to residential and skyscrapers in the suburbs 😅
The airport looks awesome 👌
Pardon my french brotha, but damn, lets fucking go!! I have never been this excited for a youtube video
those intro jingles take me back
27:55 I'm still watching
And I'm too new to know this, but it's nice to see the progress compared to Marble Mountain (and how much outdated mods mess up the game)
Dam I remember watching springwood when it first came out

Understandable have a great day
It's been 4 years ?!?! Time really flies.
loved this series when it was active
TDT you've come a long way baby
The overall proportions are much more realistic than your new builds. looks very nice
Time tunnel...time tunnel coming up folks.....we traveling to the...springwood time period...hold on to your hats.
I thought I would never hear that intro in a new video ever again
First time seeing this city. Love it!
The ephemeral nature of workshop items has got to be one of my biggest gripes with the way this game handles mods.
The nostalgia from that opening music...
"Sorry About the lag" Basically defines my life.
It would be cool to see a revamp of springwood but make it more like marble mountain with limited assets and mods
OMG YAAASSSS I LOVED THIS SERIES PLS DO SOME MORE ON IT 😵😵😮
The Evergreen Content of 2dollars20 :) !!!!!
I forgot how much I missed that intro music 😊
make dry rivers in MM!
