How would it be reported if the Coastguard attempted to board a ship violating US territorial waters and were fired upon by the crew? Then Chinese Navy launched helicopters entered US territorial waters and sunk the Coastguard ships? Fired at by small arms or not, you'd have a totally different take even though circumstances would be about the same.
And since when the US coastguard purposefully invaded other innocent container ships?
I mean, US troops getting a lot of battle field experience with these small attacks. While we don’t wish for people being killed, US forces had no choice but to help defend and they are gaining valuable experience.

It's not clear any other cargo ship will attempt to said past the Houtis. But if we're escorting another ship, the next time the houtis send 4 small boats, they might also be carrying a few manpads and ATGMs. A helicopter is not good at dodging an anti-air missile. And the private security on the cargo ship, might not want to shoot at someone with a few ATGMs.

I've to correct that. Navy is the seals. Air Force is Airborne units, but really, more the air superiority fighters, bombers, and support craft. Land... Army/Marine Corps with Army Rangers & Green Beret and Marines with Recon units. - There is also the Coast Guard, but as the name suggests, it is used generally for guarding the USA coastal regions from threats trying to enter by sea.
We could just send in Delta Force operatives, but that would mean an occupation of the region would have to then have to be put in place to stabilize the region. - That's a lot of resources that don't need to be wasted.
If Russian command had even one iota of intelligence, they would send their special forces teams to remove terrorist organizations (as they once did). The terrorists actual fear the Spetsnaz more than any other group or military. (It may be foolish, but there it is.)
