Glory Be To The Holy Trinity Father Son Holy Spirit. ☘🇮🇪
First of all . , . A great film.
Actor Jeffrey Hunter really tool the role of Jesus seriously.
SPIRITUAL NOTE: Again captured really well. The Apostles had no real sense of what Jesus was talking about other than what survived and that is . . .
'Do this in memory of me. '
A wonderful movie......
The great late Jeffrey Hunter........
We must all follow Jesus Christ.
Many Blessings😂🙏🙏😃
By "follow jesus" what do you mean ? where has he gone ?
Glory Be. 👼💚

I love this...thank you.
I hadn't realised that Jesus was so good looking!
Probably wasn't, but the words and voice infliction of intonation was almost perfect!
I honestly believe that Christ was a fairly good looking guy. The line from the Bible about him not having any beauty to be attracted to meant that he didn’t dress or have the appearance of a King (in my opinion). The Bible even mentions that woman were drawn and attracted to him. Also he was a carpenter so he probably had a build that would have been considered muscular at the time. Now did he have pale skin and light blue eyes? Absolutely not.
Mmmm, Jesus was a hotty

Quite a decade. Jeff played Jesus here, then had a memorable cameo in the war epic THE LONGEST DAY and then played the original Captain Pike on Star Trek.....and then he tragically died far too young.
As a non-denomical Christian and a non-demoncal one as well, I choose Holy Scripture above ALL things.
This film focusses on Jesus Christ's Godly/Saviour side, rather than His human sacrificial Lamb side.
Yes, this film is melodramatic... For a REASON. That was cinema when used correctly.
The soundtrack is amazing!
The bit long but one of the greatest movies ever made
Yes, it followed Ben Hur as a lead but by the time they finished the film was a shambles. They called in Orson Welles to narrate to somewhat piece it together. And much was riding on the music of Miklos Rozsa who had won the Oscar for Ben Hur. Jeffrey Hunter is oddly only introduced as a "Co-star" in the opening credits. I think with the music and certain scenes where they stuck to the Gospel narrative the film was very powerful. But it gets lengthy when they go off on lengthy scenes that never even happened in the Bible. But as a kid I liked all those Roman Soldier fighting scenes. If Jeffrey Hunter was given an opportunity like Robert Powell in Jesus of Nazareth, I have no doubt he would of done just as well. BLESSINGS
Jeffrey acted very well as Jesus
how do you know what jesus was like ?
Yes The Best Actor To Potray Christ.💚
This is the first movie to show Jesus Christ face on film.
False Cecil B Demille had a silent KING OF KINGS from 1927 showing Jesus
Jesus, the finest man to ever walk the earth and jeffery hunter, the finest man who ever portrayed Him.
I'm probably just impossible to please, but I haven't found any Jesus films quite coming up to the level I'd wanted. Sometimes it's the costumes, sometimes it's the direction or the staged feel, I don't know. The best I've seen is probably Ben Hur or The Last Temptation of Chris in terms of being superbly directed.
First colour film of Jesus
Apparently Jesus himself created colour film especially for the portrayal of himself in this movie. He even wanted to play himself but god told him that would make it far to obvious that they really existed and everyone would become christian and ruin his favourite pastime of watching people be tortured in hell

They ate bitter herbs, today we eat radicchio and arugula.
Of all the actors who played Jesus Christ, I think his is the best followed by Robert Powell and then Ted Neely
Ted Neely was great, as was Carl Anderson who played Judas.
You've never seen Max Von Sydow in THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD. His voice is very powerful..

Jesus of Nazareth is a much better movie.
First of all it was a mini series. Robert Powell is excellent. But if Hunter had a part like that instead of King of Kings he would of done well too. According to Miklos Rozsa the whole production was a mess. They depended in his music and Orson Welles to be the narrator to somehow salvage something. All the voices had to be dubbed in because of sound trouble on the film. Hunter had a few shining moments that proved he could of kept going if he were given more scenes. But they didn't stick with the life of Jesus and headed in different directions. If it wasn't for JH quoting directly from the Sermon of the Mount and a few other brief moments he would of never been remembered as a good Jesus.
@@PaulSiddall Paul, I think Hunter gave a very nice and yes, inspiring performance... and the film is just fine. He and it seems to get more appreciated as time goes by. The film has the same 'look and feel' to it as 'Ben~Hur' and why wouldn't it? Also released by MGM, same amazing composer doing the score, similar opening titles, similar scenes. Now, it's not 'Ben~Hur' but what is? In the days of the Hays Code, when it was somewhat taboo, Hunter was the first actor cast as Yeshua in a prominent way in a major talking picture. The task was enormous. The most similar in the role is probably Caviezel.
Powell is very sincere in the role but the problem, frankly, is the British accent. Some of the Apostles were Americans, producing a strange dichotomy. It's the reason Wyler brilliantly cast mainly Brits as Romans and Americans as Jews in 'Hur', to contrast the cultures. The Romans of the day would have spoken in the more refined way. The fact that Brits often seem to be better actors doesn't impress me in this case. The mini-series itself? Eh, it reminds me too much of 'The Greatest Story Ever Told'. Yes, reverent at times but also colorless and bland at other times, and with a gratuitous famous cast. Sure, 'King of Kings' is 'Hollywoodized' but it's got life.

Those who made this movie should know that Jesus did not have blond hair and blue eyes. You only wanted to make western people happy and show them that Jesus was similar to you.... By the way, Jesus was not God, he was created by God and all his miracles were done by the help of God....

Everything is messed up. Mostly all Christian theology comes from neoplatoism; and what we have from Jesus is only what his followers say he said not anything he wrote himself. Plus the words were handed down 40 years after the crucifixion. However, there is value in them for Ghandi and MLK who both used the words of non violence to win their campaigns for peace.
@@PaulSiddall that's an interesting take. I have yet to see any credible evidence that Jesus was a historical figure. I'm not saying he wasn't but if it was anyone other than the figure a very popular cult was based upon, his existence would have been rejected by serious historians long ago.
Its Called Acting. PS One Of The Greatest Movies On Christ. 💚
His existence is attested to outside of the bible by Tacitus and Jerome. His followers began to spread his message, there's even early evidence possibly of roman centurions in the area using Christian imagery in their barracks, the message spread west through Asia Minor and Greece, many early adopters of Christianity used Greek not Latin. By about 30 years after his death we know there were a small number of Christians in Rome who Nero had executed. By 79 AD there's also signs of a Christian man from the east living in Pompei with his wife as a baker.
@@lw3646 The Tacitus and Jerome passages about the existence of Christ have been conclusively demonstrated to be forgeries and interpolations, they are totally out of character from and style of the writings they are part of, and just because there were people running around worshiping a diety called Jesus is as worthless evidence for the historicity of jesus as Odin worshippers are for Odin
