I love Serge, he proves that it doesn't matter how hard the music is. It doesn't mean the vocalist needs to be a hard ass in person. Love the band, the music and the man!
Having done community theater, I can resonate with that. The first show or two you perform are pure magic... anything can happen. After that, a lot of it settles into routine. You can still have magic moments, but it's so easy to set into autopilot. In fact, I think everyone can resonate with that. Think of a new job, or a new relationship, a new town, and so on... the first few times are always magical and anything can happen, but over time, everything settles back down.
Always lovely to hear real artists and legends in the making speak :) Sounds stupid as but that's one fear i have with playing guitar, the repetition, the gone within the moment it's heard kinda thing. I truly appreciation anyone who can play the same over and over and over and over and over again... even just for 2 min haha. Much love Serj and thanks for all the good times you and your brothers have given me :)
I was so happy I got to see them at Sick New World 2023, and my 14 year old son got to be in there with me. The organizers and security sucked, but SOAD made it all worth it. Forever grateful for the memories. I cannot imagine doing that as long as they have, though. What I wouldn’t give to continue seeing them live, but I will always appreciate the shows I have been blessed with by the rock gods, themselves. Maybe they’ll get a wild hair and decide they need to express themselves in a new…..refreshing……👀 way. 🤭 I would give up quite a few limbs and organs for new music from them, no matter what it was like. So long as they were happy with it, I would love to hear what kind of things they come up with together now. Rock on, Serj. 🤘🏻 Keep taking care of yourself. We would like to keep you around as long as possible, please and thanks.

I love that he (and perhaps the whole band) is truly artistic beyond the average famous music groups. They know when to dial it back, and as he pointed out in this talk... it's redundant. I think I would've cracked after just 1 or 2 years. Their service to the listeners is truly a gift, and Mr. Tankian's mindset (through interviews) has always been a breath of fresh air to me. ♥
I think there are ways to mix it up to prevent things becoming stale so I'm not sure I agree with the saying he paraphrased, but he's a human being and as a human being I respect that this isn't necessarily something he wants to devote the rest of his life to, especially as he gets older and has more medical problems.
His naturally relaxed speaking here, cadence and tonality really puts into perspective how much actual power and control he has over his voice as a whole in SOAD/solo work. Also, that he is exceedingly emotionally intelligent! Love him :)
SoaD got me through my high school years. Their last two albums were on repeat so much that my Hypnotize CD literally broke lol. The group deserve their flowers and to just unwind.
Inspiration is never artistically redundant and at certain times in history inspiration is needed so much. Now is one of those times. It's hard to keep going when inspiration is low but you are the inspiration serj, you and the rest of soad. The reciprocation is what is important, for fans new and old but also for you and soad as an artistic expression. Love inspires more love and you'll always be loved for what you've already given. I'm a fan and my son is a fan too, my daughter is listening more and becoming a fan. You're still inspiring, don't forget that serj. With love from the fool 😉🙂. a friend.
It is artistically redundant. I always ask myself how musicians can live that lifestyle of 2-3 of the same shows a day new city after city. How do you give the audience a genuine experience when you don’t feel you’re being genuine to begin with, since this is day 45 of a tour and everyone is exhausted. Then I remember they make millions and that’s the costs of it.
@Sergatx everyone has the right to retire when they feel they've finally reached the end of a journey and the tank is running dry. Nobody knows better than you where you're at and your decisions moving forward should be respected on merit of appreciation. Thank you for uour artistic expression serj. The gift that keeps on giving. Take a rest you deserve it, somehow I feel you'll re-emerge. Artistic souls always find new ways to express the uniqueness perceptions. I do hope the get that rest you know you need though and enjoy your life no matter which point you're at. Much love and apprecation from the UK.
God I would have given anything to see you all live. Nothing compares to the creativity and uniqueness of soad and will always be underrated and top tier music to me. Somehow the chaos difference in every song brings me peace.
Music is very much about capturing a moment in time. We want to relive it, thats why we selfishly cling, instead of appreciating it for what it was, and can never be again.

He’s brought so much music along with the other crew members, let them rest ❤
Three shows announced for 2025 - New York, Chicago and Toronto
I’m going to the Toronto show, they added a 2nd show, tickets sold out in minutes
@ Rogers Centre is going to be insane in 2025 - System of a Down, Metallica and Kendrick Lamar are going to do massive numbers.
I can 100% understand that. I've never been in a band, nor toured. But getting tired of the grind that comes with your profession and knowing when to walk away is a very important thing to understand.
im just grateful for the amazing music you guys have given us, totally understandable that touring gets hard after awhile. Still a huge fan.
omg can't wait to see you guy live again
I love Serge, he proves that it doesn't matter how hard the music is. It doesn't mean the vocalist needs to be a hard ass in person. Love the band, the music and the man!
His honest and logical point breaks my heart
Well said from a Legend. Thank you Serj for your Beautiful voice that lead a generation and more generations to come.
But, I still Respect Your own individual pain and completely understand what you’re talking about. I know it like the back of my own hand and go through it every second of everyday. Pain has become my constant Friend. ♥️♥️♥️
Thanks for everything Sir ❤️
Props to SOAD for all the beautiful music they’ve shared with us.. and yes it’s selfish for people to say, I’d like to see them live, yet the band isn’t feeling like touring.. that’s honest and I respect that.. after all that’s what music is about
I watched you as a kid I’ve grown up with you and now my kids listen to you, you’re many peoples hero’s and probably saved a lot of us greebos emos scene kids blah blah we all like the same taste in music really brings us all together
He's real down to earth.
Artistically real, and genuine love for music.
im sooooo pumped im going to see them in september!!!!
Very understandable. I appreciate all the work they did for the fans and for themselves and appreciate all the music out
it been a while and his voice is still the same plus he a open singer ( from the throat) that's amazing. Thanks for touring again.
Wish i got to see them live! They're my favorite band
We, the fans, do not oppose new songs.
Serj we both get our wish that way. ❤️
His voice is so tender, gives you chill
He still looking fine as hell. ❤
I'm so grateful I got to see them 2 years in a row 05 and 06. I love you, SOAD.
True fans don't need an explanation but we appreciate and understand it completely
The love in the comments is really making me smile today. 🙂
Obrigado por vcs existirem 😭😭😭
Please just one more tour !! 🙏🏽😓
Life is redundant. God bless the one you got to live.
Such a wise character. You're the best, Serj.
Please tour 🎉 🙏🏼
Wow, Serj is such a well-spoken, calm man. I feel like you would learn so much just having a beer with him. 🙏
You break my heart serj you have millions of people who idle your band i wish I was old enough to see you in the past now I guess it's too late
You are really humble bro, respect to you
Seeing them in Golden Gate Park a few months ago literally transported me back to my teen years seeing them on the parking lot stage of Ozzfest. They still got it. See them while you still can.
Come to Portugal im a big fan but i realise that is almost impossible 😢 due to your phisical conditions love you guys
