Infinity Ward decided back in 2019 to reboot the entire Modern Warfare trilogy. So this is a new storyline that borrows certain characters from the old ones. But the stories are not connected.
I guess I don't really have a problem with that. However I think it was really stupid marketing decision to use the same titles as the classic series. It just creates confusion. The only difference is that one is written Modern Warfare 2 and the other is Modern Warfare II.
For the longest time I didn't even realize these were new games, because I thought they were just remasters of the originals. And to make it more confusing they actually did release remasters of the originals. I'm sure lots of people past over these games because they made the same mistake.

They just utilise the same assets from warzone for the single player campaign. Much easier to set the entire game series in just two locations (Verdansk, Urzikstan) than to make the game with passion and set missions in locations all over the world like in the og series.

Makarov standing in the Ambulance was so insane detail. I noticed it was weird to see a Ambulance there right after Shephard said that First Responders wont be on scene until its clear. So it was a bit off and shouldve caught their attention.

In the cutscene when price is driving, i noticed that Makarov was in the ambulance staring at them, without them knowing it was a distraction before they actually captured him

This mission was actually pretty fucked, only difference is we just played as the good guys. Same with the Piccadilly Circus mission in mw2019 where there were literally suicide bombers killing civilians.

the mocap and the camera work in this game really was next tier, its a shame most of the missions werent on the same level
I honestly think that mw2019 was like 1000 times more realistic and immersive, mwii too, but it had very mid story, this game had shit missions, decent story, shit ending. Mwii had great missions, mid story, mid ending, mw2019 for the most part great missions, great story, great ending.

@@Worran MW 2019 was written by Naughty Dog writers who left due to unknown reasons...my suspicion is the reason they left is that Activision wanted to take away creative control by inserting the 'cross game mode' massive story which took away from the themes of the MW 2019 campaign .

The old Makerov had a commanding timbre to his voice, when you heard him you got the idea that he’s always in control, 2 steps ahead which lead to his calm and cold demeanor

The original No Russian mission was so memorable and impactful because you were for once fighting for the bad guys. They should have had the POV for this mission being either Makarov or one of his goons. Imagine playing as Makarov and fighting 141? Now THAT would be memorable
Isn't Burns also an SAS Operator in the OG MW3? It was the mission Mind the Gap where SAS raids a shipyard chasing after a shipment the 141 reported was shipped by Makarov back in Sierra Leone. We played as a 'Burns' in that one.

This mission was set around 6 months before the events of MW2019 and its spec ops missions. Now we know the airport was blown up and never recovered 11 months before the events of warzone.

I got to say, the gun animations never looked better, but the overall graphics and functions of the game do not live up to the setting the bar any higher.
Animations are mid imo, this game has no focus, it doesnt know if it wants to appeal to realism or full arcade so it fails at entertaining both, but still charges you a 100 bucks for it

This is how far things have slid.
The original MW trilogy was that, a trilogy. Three games that picked up where the other left off, with the third serving as a fitting close to things. Makarov was fleshed out nicely as someone who was there from the very beginning, even though we never saw him at first. The third game was as much a finale as it was filling in the blanks about Makarov and what drove him. They not only made you care about him, but you cared about seeing his toe get tagged. MW2 is the high point for the series and rightly so. It was an excellent game, excellent story with some fun levels beyond shooting up an entire airport as an undercover terrorist (until your cover's blown with a bullet to the chest from Makarov himself).
I bought 2 a year ago and when I heard his name mentioned, I was legitimately excited to see where 3 went. Then we got some DLC quality nonsense and I'm just shaking my head. I can't stand where this is now as far as games go. I'm not even excited for most anymore cause you're either paying for an incomplete game at launch or it's something like this which comes off as a glorified DLC that you just paid full price for. I'm honestly itching to get a copy of the original trilogy for the PS3 cause I'm wanting to remember the good ole days as it were.

Okay, as a person who speaks Russian, for the first time I see proper spelling of Russian words on billboards etc. it’s been a major flaw in video games for decades, and I had always been wondering why Activision and others can’t hire a native Russian speaker to assist with translations? Literally in CA anywhere you go you can find someone who speaks Russian .
Anyway, graphics are mind blowing, (I haven’t played video games for like 7 years). Great job COD.

it's now unrealistic to take creative risks when fanbases like this are so easily pissed off at any little things... At the end of the day the game industry is sucking at the moment but it all comes down to the unrealistically high bar + overworked devs.
its literally a 15-year old formula that hasn't been modified or changed in any significant manner at all and because children and sub-95 IQ ADHD people still exist, Call of Duty will continue to sell like hotcakes. I don't touch these games with a ten foot barge pole, even battlefield is absurdly ridiculous for anyone who's actually trying to stimulate their mind beyond just training fast reflexes. Ever since I started playing hell let loose, I do not touch any game that is not at least that level of serious when it comes to its gameplay. And even HLL can be arcadey.

Giving you control of the perpetrators is what made the original so memorable and is the reason why this is a downgrade. Plus compared to the plane scene, this was less brutal. If they let you control Koni in that mission, people would have lost their shit.
