    Thanks, I know that I am ignorant when it comes to mechanical things but this video really proved it. I didnt know the filter needed to be oiled.

    Very helpful! I have the same gen 4 ZX10R and I just broke into my airbox the other day for the ECU. May as well clean the K&N filter while I'm in there. Cheers.

      Exactly. That's common practice. Swap things out that are worn while you are that deep so you don't have to go back. Glad I could help. I have tons of vids on this bike. Take a look at a few of my other videos. Good luck and stay safe. Cheers!

    Luckily my 2003 Kawasaki ZRX1200R has the air filter accessible by just taking my seat off and one cover. Technically under the back side of tank but I don’t have to take the gas tank off. My K&N is cylindrical coffee can shaped.

    Thank you. I bought one for my 2017 triumph tiger 800 xrt don't know wich way goes down or up. One side is smaller than the other and with the small side down the bike looses power it has the gasket on that side. Called K&N and they said the larger part goes facing down but it does not fit properly when I screw it down made it fit and bike runs supeb but the gasket now faces up and serves no purpose I'm so confused I need help

    • @TheMotorcycleBoss
      @TheMotorcycleBoss  2 роки тому

      I understand your confusion. I would first try making sure that you have the correct filter for your bike. K&N is usually pretty decent at making sure their filters only fit 1 way. As far as which way the protruding side of the filter goes it is always defferent from what I've seen. Be certain to compare your old filter dimensions and orientation to the K&N one. Usually, whichever orientation fits best is often the correct one. But just be certain you have the correct item number to start. I hope this helps you out somehow. Ride safe! Cheers!

      @@TheMotorcycleBoss thank you ! I have one of these knn filters and I am very confused if I should go back to the original air filter or take care of this one , because many people say that it is dangerous to motor that there may be sand or oil in the the motor from the filter.

    • @TheMotorcycleBoss
      @TheMotorcycleBoss  8 місяців тому +1

      @matancohen8193 OEM filters are fine. I've used a k&n since i've owned this bike and I haven't noticed any residual oil in the airbox or anything adverse. It has no negative long term impacts to the bike from my experience and research. However; over-oiling your filter could have the potential to reduce performance. So proper maintenance is important. But if you would rather not bother with it, OEM is always a great option and much easier to deal with as well. I would just balance the cost of a recharge kit for the k&n over simply replacing the filter with OEM. OEM is less work but could potentially be more expensive in the long run. Completely up to you.

      You may have oiled it too much and contaminated the mass air flow sensor. If you believe this is the problem, go to autozone and pick up mass air flow sensor cleaner. Spray your mass air flow sensor and allow it to fully dry. Then reassemble. You may also have simply forgot to reconnect an electrical connector. That is usually the main culprit. Cleaning and reoiling your air filter may be needed to keep this from happening again. Hope this helps. Good luck

    Don't miss doing this,switched to sprint air filter,you use compressed air and thats it,put it back in bike and ride,your wife or girlfriend must not be home,my wife would've flipped washing bike parts in the kitchen sink!!!!!!

    • @TheMotorcycleBoss
      @TheMotorcycleBoss  4 роки тому +2

      Lol. My gf and I have an understanding that I can use the sink for whatever I want. She never gives me crap for any of that stuff. Regarding the filter, if I didn't live in a dust bowl I would definitely use it. The filter of the Sprint air filter isn't fine enough for the dust, pollen, and sand that I see here in Nevada. As you may know, that brand is notorious for allowing small particles through the filter although it is mostly harmless. Personally, because of where I live, I would prefer to clean and oil my K&N and ensure a finer filter than deal with all that dust in my air box and runners.
