You guys are god damned heroes. I mean I suppose it was obvious to anyone who was aware of the technicalities, but this is the nation you get when lawyers do surgery. Keep on keeping on!

This is a good discussion, thank you IACS, but please normalize the volume, Bruce is 20xs louder than Edward.

Conspiracy Theory: Edward Snowden is actually a Max-Headroom style Artificial Intelligence tasked with giving the internet a voice.

I cannot hear a word Edward is saying, the audio on his side of the feed is just to crappy and echoey and no apparent post process work was done on it (In contrast, both the Announcer and Bruce sounded wonderful) and even if I turn on the "Closed Captioning" I just get the bad lip sync mondegreen version. So I literally could not watch this. :(

I could, but it is unnecessarily hard. Too bad Harvard didn't bother to equalize the audio before posting.

"Hallowed are the Ori..." Sometimes I think people are conned into thinking it's ok to be insecure, when really they do not realise that the insecurity is a tool that anyone who knows how to find it can use. Security is important and if NSA is fiddling with equipment to make sure they can access it, why would people choose to buy it? Suddenly "Made in the USA!" becomes a warning or deterrent to people who value privacy and security. You think the dollar is weak now? Wait for a few more years when nobody buys your tech.

Technology is like humans: ever-changing, unpredictable, yet universal. It is a global issue and priority- no nation will supersede the other: we must work together for it to function properly.

Edward Snowden was "an intelligence officer"? An "expert on cybersecurity"? The guy was a security guard for a couple years, then a BAH contractor, a network admin with a huge ego and even greater imagination. A guy with no accesses.

Absolom Humblebug You meant career officer? But I'm sure you've seen how career officers like Ms Lerner at our rogue entity called the IRS had collaborated with the FEC, FBI and and another rogue entity called the NSA to arrogantly commit umpteen number of crimes and violations of the Constitution. She got all the access, went on successfully to skew the 2012 public election. What do you got to say about this career officer?

***** Here's the thing: he has consistently lied about his career and his accesses. His job title. Everything.
Furthermore, he never utilized the internal 'whistleblowing' process. He made no complaints to the OGC at all. He just spent five years collecting any classified material he could get his hands on (and stole other people's access to do it) and then caught a plane to China, taking all that stuff with him. If he were a Chinese or Russian mole, he would've done exactly the same thing. That's treason, not 'whistleblowing'. He should be shot.
He destroyed hundreds of careers, endangered hundreds of lives, violated his sworn oath, and permanently undermined the security of the US, the nation to which he had sworn an oath. F*ck him.
There's no evidence the NSA colluded with the IRS in any respect at any point. That's fantasy.
