Thanks for sharing this! So nice to see the Expos in their "prime"... team was very competitive from 1979-83 but never managed to win their division (*strike year, I know)
1979 was terrible. I was a kid in the 70s, and there were very few good points: 1975 World Series, Celtics and Bruins championships, "Jaws," the AMC Pacer and Gremlin. Worst of all: The Blizzard of 1978, and going to school.
At least in this video you can see an Expos pitcher besides Steve Rogers. Steve Rogers is the starting pitcher in practically every Expos game on UA-cam before 1984. The Expos had a lot of other good pitchers at the same time as Rogers unfortunately I guess they are lost to video history. Dan Schatzeder the lefty pitched a great game here.
Expos really had a good team that season and came so close to taking the division. IMO, they were better than the Pirates. They were strong in every area and that outfield was arguably the best in the majors.
Love these classics.. Are there any full televised broadcast vs San Diego Padres for the '79 season or '80-84? Looking for old memories of Jack Murphy Stadium and can't find any games for the Padres other than a short clip vs Cubs.. Any old Expos games in San Diego for '83 season? Searching for Any in existence
imagine that, Joe West is still around and going strong and he looks like he can go another 20 yrs. Unreal. Remember Dutch Rennert?? we'll NEVER see another ump like that again. I used to watch the whole game just to see him. No one ever did what he did since then. Good old days indeed. I was 14 and my whole life ahead of me. Now i'm a 53 yr old fart with no expos to watch in MTL. I miss my childhood so much and i also miss my Expos.
Right! Please don't just give away the winner like that! The fun of watching a regular-season game is that we generally do not know the result, and so can watch it like a normal game. By contrast, a post-season game is one whose result we all already know; so we watch it purely as a historical document. (But, if you do elect to spoil the result, please spell "lose" correctly.)
Sweet! No graphics, no strike zone box, not even a radar gun. Classic baseball rocks! 😃⚾

Wow nice upload thanks....very clear picture for 79
1979. the golden age of life in America.

Far from it. But Golden compared to now.
Far from it, but better than these days!
Thanks for sharing this classic!! I remember watching this very vaguely on tv as a small kiddo!!
Dave Van Horne (PBP), Duke Snider (C) & Don Whitman (host) on CBC.
Miss the days of watching a game on a satellite dish with no commercials.
and hearing the announcers cuss between innings
This Detroit Tiger fan loved Larry Herndon!!!!
I will maintain until I die that the 79 Expos were the best team they ever had. I know about 94. I still think this team was better.
i think '94 was the dream team, started with the great coach, discipline and leadership, work ethics, etc Wasn't there to see 70's live though
A CBC Expos classic indeed !

Well, there is Bill Lee.

The Duke and Van Horne in those orange jackets :P
The Expos swung at the first pitch so many times, it's no wonder Curtis cruised to victory.

Loved those orange Giant road unis. Giants should go back to those.
What year did mlb lose the expos???
2:20:00 to the end. Technical problem? lol
if the reds did not fuck up and trade Perez they would have won 2 more world series worst trade in reds history.
Jack Clark made the NL All Star team that year.
Love The Ripper!!
Tommy, what was your opinion of Clark’s performance?
Division Est de la Ligue Nationale
Le mât du Stade en construction!

Some essential punctuation is missing there.
I’m thinking you failed Spelling 1A.
1995?
I think answer to question might b Hank Aaron
I love the orange sanis
no sound. cant hear anything
Who are the 5 idiots that gave this a thumbs down????
Washington Nationals fans?
wtf is with the audio?
Gar Nunce watch the whole game, it gets to a normal level, it's just the original recording. I think it was on a Betamax
The second audio feed audible early on sounds like maybe the radio broadcast? - it was reading the lineup.
