    Thanks for the video, well done and instructive.
    I am waiting for one Nymphes that i recently bough...I am gonna upgrade as soon as it comes in.
    I have tried to listen a few times the part regarding the "envelope scratching" but honestly i do not understand what the issue is. Probably it will not be an issue for me as i cannot hear it...but i still would like to understand what the potential issue is so i can compare the 2 versions to see if there is any improvement...can you help me understand what should i be looking for?
    Cheers

      Cheers, appreciate that.
      The envelope scratching, you can hear a sort of static triggering with the amp envelope, sometimes right at key press. depends on settings, isnt that bad

    Hydrasynth gone already? I sold my desktop version as well. I was thinking it might be nice to find an explorer used, in order to get the poly aftertouch as a midi controller too; but I am guessing that might be quite a while before I’m lucky enough to find one at a good deal.

      I saw your other comment, but it was just on loan!

      Well dude, ASM got their loaner-worth on that video.
      Definitely the go-to for anyone that wants to get one. I am predicting that is gonna be QUITE a lot of people, myself included when I can find a used explorer a decent price.
      Thanks again for all these great videos. I have quite a few overlapping gear pieces with you, and it is very helpful every time that overlap occurs. Also helps to know which synths might be a good fit in the future, as I buy, sell and trade gear.
      Cheers mofo!

    Would you mind doing a short on the preset backup process . I just cannot get my Nymphes to go into that mode from the WAVE controller part. The save light just do what yours does and what the manual states . So , I guess I am ‘fat fingering’ the process. Would you mind doing a short video , super slowly on that process ? Thanks very much :-)

    I'm still hoping they can fix the scratchy VCA envelope. It still very much is an issue (I've tried two different units). I think it is a separate issue from the attack clicks which can be greatly reduced by moving the attack fader up just a little bit.

  • @huntergalloway3944

    Jorb, bruh I’m trying to save up for a Hydrasynth Explorer, and then you go on and do this. Like, wtf?
    6 analog voices in a package slightly bigger than a Volca, and not to mention the gorgeous sound. Being mono doesn’t bother me, as I often mix LCR with synths panned hard L/R, and if I need stereo separation I’ll just throw it through a Quadraverb or whatever.
    Dang synthfluencers making me spend money! This is all your fault.

    The clicking envelope noise is awful. Even after the firmware update, its still there. It would be a sweet sounding synth otherwise, but its too limiting having that clicking all over the place.

  • @Lobstertrapprr
    @Lobstertrapprr 2 роки тому +3

    Got a nymphes this week, the clicking really hasn't been that bad for me even before the firmware update was installed onto mine. I also usually throw a lot of effects on my synths or run it through a pedal so I won't have much issue anyways but I do also love the clean sounds with no other FX though.

    • @JorbLovesGear

  • @moistpeanut5986
    @moistpeanut5986 2 роки тому +3

    The VCA scratching is actually a huge problem. I returned mine for only that reason.
    Its just too audible when recording if your patch has the filter relatively closed. I will buy it again once this issue is totally fixed but its not usable in a recording situation with that problem.
    I had the same problem with the Behringer MonoPoly actually.

    Does anyone know a way to change what sound is loaded via CC command on the nymphes? Like a program change command? I feel like that's pretty basic but I'm not seeing it on the CC command list. Am I missing something obvious?

    • @JorbLovesGear
      @JorbLovesGear  2 роки тому

      Program change is different to a CC, nymphes has a global setting to accept program changes. Then im not sure how their numbered, but if you start from 0-1 i bet it would make sense.

    ‘Preciate your videos! Question, when learning about the sound design capabilities of this thing, is it not possible to, for instance, close the filter with the mod wheel? It’s only positive values, right? Is there a way around this?

  • @AgonalRhythm

    One thing about dreadbox is their documentation of updates and update cadence really raises the bar. They keep updating the Typhon and I am glad to see they're bringing the same to the Nymphes.
    I'm still struggling to connect with the sound on it, i.e. getting sounds I am satisfied with. But that has more to do with my own time with it vs the device (or controls). Preset export/import means I can just benefit from the hard work of others soon 😌
    Sadly, I still have the envelope clicking after the V2 update. Or so it seems? I'll have to spend more time with it to verify.

    • @AgonalRhythm

      Also, the relative/scaled parameter mode seems very useful for live performances, where the drastic jump might be jarring (unless that's what you want in that instance)

    Since I did not have my Nympnes hooked up to a keyboard or amp while trying to update the firmware, I was not aware of the calibration step, which takes time. I disconnected the synth after the syxex file showed as sent, and when I moved the synth back to my controller, and the 3 lights were still lit, I was afraid it was stuck. Sure would have been nice if the update pdf manual would say that the synth recalibrates after updating.... It's an amazing synth and works fantastic with the hydrasynth line, but whoever writes the manuals could be a bit more detailed describing the full procedure. Thanks for posting a full walk thru.

      How did you fix it im currently havinv the same problem

    • @drsamurai009
      @drsamurai009 Рік тому +1

      @@JackAtano First two steps in the manual troubleshooting section list...
      1.Perform a Global Settings reset: With the unit off, hold down SHIFT+MENU while powering it up. Keep these buttons down for about 4 seconds after the power up.
      2. Perform an Autotune: While the unit is powered on, hold down MENU+LOAD for 1 second. Let the autotune procedure to finish (it takes about 1 minute and it is audible).
      I used the same program used in this video to send the Sysex update file with the same settings Jorb (and the instructions) described. It did take me more than a couple times, even after doing everything in the manual. Maybe it had to perform the procedure to fix me unplugging it too early? Either way, after I ran it a couple times (the last time with the audio plugged in and I heard it calibrating). After that, it worked fine. Hope that helps.
      Reading some of the comments below, the calibration and firmware updating takes 3-5 minutes, and it's best to let it just do it's thing for maybe 5-10 minutes. Also, I'd suggest having the audio plugged into a monitor so you can hear when the calibration starts for some audio feedback.
