If this is your first exposure to Pokey check out his album Manic Revelations, that’s the type of music that will haunt your dreams. For my money the greatest album of all time.
The bastard son of Tom Waits and The Ink spots, probably the coolest man alive. My favourite artist of the 21st century. If Bethesda ever make fallout 5, then Pokey needs to be commissioned to make tracks for the soundtrack. it's really nice to see how he's mixing it up and adding to and modifying traditional swing and rockabilly into something that is stunningly fresh and new.
Love the last part of this piece, not only does it capture the late 60s visual, the bad speaker at the drive in audio too!!! Great piece. EVERTHING YOUR TEAM DOES. thank you for sharing.
If my Aunt Rose was here she would say "Everything Old is New Again." And for the Better! Love the Retro so much!!! Maybe there is still hope for the 2020s!
"Poor crackling drive in speaker audio" at end sends this over the top!! Ive seen this guy play as hard for 20 people, as he does for a televised piece in Cincinnati! Front row my drunk GF starts crying, televised pbs, and they played through it...he and Giddens!! Love this guy, amazing artist.
Holy shit! I just found Pokey! Wow, this stuff is awesome!!!! I just can't believe it. I didn't know anyone was making music like this. And this video totally kicks ass! My new favorite artist!!!!!
@@SammiSin69 idk if you're being sarcastic but I talked to him for about 10 minutes while he hand rolled a cigarette, then smoked one with him after their show
Pokey, you and your directors keep hitting the videos out of the park, this one made me laugh my ass off and the "Fuck Me Up" video is a masterpiece. Nobody else is doing what you're doing, your music is a breath of fresh air and your videos are killing it.
One of the best videos in this style ive seen i wanna see this movie now! But for reall love ya Pokey stumbled upon you the other day been listening to something in the water an alarming amount ahaha
OMG !!!! I;m In total looooove with this, you bring back old time Boogie for us ! :) !!! "bops along" woohoo !!!!! i heard the start too, mmmmmm THE KING RELIVES ;)
I would love to know if this multi talented beautiful young lady is planning to come anywhere near Richmond, Kentucky USA for a live concert, because I just absolutely have to go see her and dance to her music at least once in my life ❤️🥰🙏
I was a razor blade, you took me to the edge I did her dirty word, like hangman count their dead Her veins pump through me flowing, blue not red Bluebird She's sentimental still wears her ex-boyfriend's perfume She's melancholic, yeah, that way the French girls do She said write a song for me, call it "Why So Blue?" God I can't stop watching this. AWESOME!!!! Man, I want to see him play live. When? Where? How much? I don't care what it costs, I'll fork it over gladly.
I like to think that loverly little girl named the plush puppy I gave her after you. or me. or Tido. or maybe even that buzzkill bowtie bob. anyway you make good show
His new stuff really is top notch: rock solid song writing, and really creative arrangements that amalgamate various old-time styles and instrumentation. Having said that, I still do much prefer his older material. He was never simply emulating the past. He used old-time forms upon which to write original material (and his old material was indeed wholly original--if you don't think so, you're confusing composition with arrangement).
He’s great just found him I haven’t been this excited about finding new music to listen to in a while
omg i found him about a month ago, his song fuck me up, n im hooked, i actually wake humming his tunes now !! he is my quarantine sanctuary !
I found him last week.... instant fan!!!!! I’m hooked, this is the shit!!

Pokey you are genius! There's not a single vid or for that matter a song that I would not positively adore!

When he said "what song do you want?" I said Fuck Me Up even though I figured This was the better choice. I panicked

Very similar sound to Marcel Bontempi
"Filmed in front of a dead audience"
