    I like the idea of creating your own alcohol ink applicator. Me, I bought a standard applicator with plans to use cheap felt for pads in the future. Cheaper than buying the refills. For versatility and cost, I can see the benefit of buying the distress ink pads over buying the sprays separately. Also, if you like Michaels like I do, one of the things I did was buy a set of mini sprayers. Very versatile, and I can always fill them with rubbing alcohol to use with the inks.

    Love the way it turned out Lindsay. Last week I felt like experimenting and I tell you what I had so much fun. I didn’t have a gel plate or the roller so I used an old spare bathroom tile and a paint brush ( works wonders), I also used food colouring gel paste. I had some gold and silver food colouring and figured I would use them. Black background with the gold and silver on it looked amazing. The problem I had was the gold and silver would get on your fingers if you touched it when dry so I grabbed my hairspray and sprayed it. Solved the issue and the hairspray changed the black into other colours in some spots which made it look amazing. I must remember to get some gelatine so I can make a gel plate lol.

    Thank you for the heads up on the oxide sprays. I was curious if reinkers and water would work. I haven't sprayed through stencils in ages, so I hadn't thought of it not giving clean lines.

    Love your creativity and even more so,your willingness to share your talents with us. This card is so cool. Like the stamp sets you used. I do have a question though. You mentioned that on some gel plates you could let your print dry and and some the print could tear when dry. Do you know how a homemade gelli plate would react?

    • @thefrugalcrafter
      @thefrugalcrafter  5 років тому

      I haven't tried it on a homemade one but I reckon it might RIP up 5he surface. If that happens you can remelt it. Usually the homemade ones produce a better print because it removes most of the media. I'd try the layers but only let it sit a minute before pulling off the cardstock.

    • @lorirobinson7357
      @lorirobinson7357 5 років тому

      @@thefrugalcrafter thank you. I have never let my print set at all. But your example was SO vibrant I really want to try it. I will see what happens just letting it set for just a minute or so. Again, thank you for your quick response.

    Please Read This Lindsay I would be grateful if you did.
    Hi Lindsay, I just wanted to let you know I have been watching your videos from the very beginning. When you first started. I wanted to let you know that youtube is making it harder and harder to view our favorite artist. I use to be able watch your videos without any interruption. the video quality keeps changing to 144p or 240p I have to keep changing to 480p. I do have HD on my computer but if I put it to HD I can't watch the video at all. I think it must be youtube because I watch other artist and their videos play just fine.
    What I mean about interruption is that the videos will keep refreshing to the point that I have to just switch to a different video.
    I just wanted to say something because you had talked about not getting as many views as you use to. I was thinking maybe other people may have the same issues going on.
    I will always watch your videos. I love how easy you make it look when you do your beautiful paintings. Thank you for all the awesome videos you do for everyone and look forward to lost more. Have a wonderful everyday.

    Thanks for another great video! The card is SUPER CUTE! I especially appreciate that you shared your thoughts about the oxide sprays. They do look nice, and I’m sure that they are a quality product...but I haven’t purchased any. I have a nice assortment of oxide pads, and a few dylusions and tattered angels sprays, so the question “why do I need these” kept haunting me. I will think about beginning to collect the reinkers instead, they can do “double duty”. Although I do have some of the dr ph martins liquid watercolor, and Indian inks. Do you know if either of those would make useful sprays? Thanks in advance!

    • @effiecross2008
      @effiecross2008 5 років тому

      I have seen where someone used India ink to make sprays, I haven't tried it myself yet, here's the link, ua-cam.com/video/6f7fN6jdQAo/v-deo.html Lindsay, thanks SO much for talking about the Oxide sprays. I have tons of the oxide pads, and would love to get a couple of more colors, but I haven't been able to afford to try the sprays yet. I can't even tell you how many times I've tried to find info on whether or not it's worth it to buy the sprays! I'm so happy to just worry about buying the refills instead. You saved me!

    Hi Lindsay, I have been looking out for this one! I was worried about the alcohol inks staining but they really didn’t did they? I have got some little bottles of metallic alcohol inks so I am going to get those out. I am going to root around for some eyeshadows too. I have got quite a few sets of polkadoodles stamps too. I would be interested to know how long the project took you to complete. Thanks, Rebecca x
