Hopefully this was an interesting watch! I’ve actually already begun work on a new series review, which will cover a series that’s a bit more popular, though it’s definitely something that falls in the cult classic category. I am wondering what other series people would like to see covered someday, whether it’s popular or obscure. Also, would you want to see a Launch Games video that covers the WonderSwan? If you’d like to support the channel, you may want to check out its Patreon and UA-cam Membership page, which currently have an 8-minute first look at an in-the-works project covering the PS2. www.patreon.com/TheLegendofGames ua-cam.com/channels/Tg-H6Wfm_kCiQKkpP0VfMg.htmljoin You may also want to join the channel's Discord server: discord.gg/7HEuX7zEQ4
Yes to everything. When I think of something specific I will come back to edit this comment but more content from you, no matter the topic, I will always watch.
So I've recently become interested in Horror games (Project Zero, Little Nightmares... the odd other game) so unsurprisingly these old Ring games passed me by... and the Wonderswan entry for obvious reasons. Still, I do love a retrospective on a game series like yours so I've been looking forward to this. 0:37 - That is one awesome box art! Seems it didn't receive a PAL territory release from a quick Wikipedia search. 1:29 - I thought I was prepared but I don't think anything had prepared me for "Like, hey man." Oh gosh, that was hysterical. The interrupting of the police officer in a situation like this seems rather believable though for the situation (though said police officer just not bothering to explain after being interrupted is further hilarity). 4:34 - Now, I've never watched the Ring, but this video simulation stuff and military shooting feels very un-Ring like. I suppose Sadako decided to up her tools from VHS tapes. 5:56 - That is a cool little thing; having the two worlds mirror each other. Seems this game was cobbled together from slapping a bunch of ideas already done by other horror games. Oh, an you even point this out at 7:24. 11:39 - See, you didn't need a bazooka; just a desk. The ultimate weapon here is clear to see. 14:49 - Happy to see you were able to find some positives from the game. It was evident early on in the video that you weren't a fan of the game so it was nice to see some good things about it. 16:32 - One heck of a jump going from Tamagotchi to Wonderswan. It also competed with the Neo Geo Pocket, as they both released around the same time frame. Interesting to hear the Wonderswan lasted long enough to enter the next era of handheld competition that included the likes of the GBA and N-Gage. 18:18 - I've watched the occasional video on the Wonderswan (was more interested in the Neo Geo Pocket though) but I'm finding out a few facts I never knew about before. The PSP testing theory with Sony's game releases is certainly an interesting one. 20:48 - They certainly struck the atmosphere well here. 21:59 - I am surprised that for such an iconic horror movie series, that there are only two Ring games. You would have thought some additional Ring games would have been attempted.
You're right, the box art is fairly eye catching. when I was a kid I remember looking at the game many times and contemplating whether or not I should get it, though I ultimately didn't. I thought about bringing up the Neo Geo Pocket in the WonderSwan section, but I decided not to since Nintendo was the system's main competitor during its lifespan. I'd definitely be interested in covering it one of these days, though. It's a really cool handheld, in both the games and in the actual look of the system itself.
I was hoping for some coverage on the Wii game.... then I remembered that I was thinking of a _The Grudge_ game, and not _The Ring._ Oops, lol. This was great! I'm familiar with the Dreamcast game from Grimbeard's video (the splatty tomato noise was something I was *so sure* he was editing in until he mentions well into the video that, no, that's the game, lol), but this is the first time I'm hearing of the Wonderswan one. I _have_ a Wonderswan but it's hard library to dig into since so much of it is Japan-focused, as in, heavy on text. Loads of One Piece RPGs, for instance, or RPGs in general, when all I want are games with more universal/jump-in-and-play appeal (games like Mega Man & Bass, Klonoa Moonlight Museum, Gunpey, Buffer Evolution or Guilty Gear Petit). So I had NO idea of the Ring on the lil' platform. Very cool to learn about it!
Thanks! I actually wasn't aware of that Wii Grudge game. I better check it out. WonderSwan's definitely has a lot of text-based and menu-driven games, though it's got some awesome gameplay-driven games as well (it's too bad those are the ones that are a bit more expensive now.)
Yeah, the Japanese version is definitely better than the American one. I also remember liking the American sequel to The Ring more than the first, though I haven't seen it in like 12 years (I'll admit I only re-watched the first entries of each version when making this.)
it was tricky to find info on the ring games. this is a really well made video, good pacing and editing. the thumbnail doesnt do it justice at all however, the white background is too plain and isnt eye catching. that being said, great video
I actually had a lot of trouble with making this thumbnail. If you go to the channel’s Twitter, you can see the original thumbnail; I made this version very recently and thought it was a huge improvement. The white background is this channel’s thing, though, and I don’t plan on changing it.
The legend has returned
Me? JAWOHL!

Much appreciation for the work you put into your videos!
Glad you like them!

This is so random. Like some parallel dimension shat a crappy game into ours.
Some of the choices the developers made with Terror’s Realm are pretty baffling.
Terror's Realm is largely related to the 3rd novel rather than any of the movies
The Wonderswan game certainly would be ripe for a fan remake or translation on PC.
That would definitely be cool to see
@@LegendOfGames I mean, its essentially a visual novel, so it would be right at home.
I first watched Japanese version specially Ring was so much scarier than Us version
Yeah, the Japanese version is definitely better than the American one. I also remember liking the American sequel to The Ring more than the first, though I haven't seen it in like 12 years (I'll admit I only re-watched the first entries of each version when making this.)
@LegendOfGames Yeah, I only watched on time too.
You forgot to mention that if you got a link cable you could connect a D3 or a d ark digivice to the wonderswan an unlock some secret in the digivices
It’s not so much me forgetting as it is not being an all-encompassing video about the WonderSwan. But that is another cool thing it can do for sure.
@@LegendOfGames ah ok

Has anyone used the bazooka?
I guess anyone who knows they can’t bring it with them to the end of the game (or found the method required to do so.)
