Your previous videos on talisman ttrpg inspired me and I bought it. This Saturday will be my first ever time as a GM. I’ve poured all over the book and binge watched your videos and I think that’s the best prep I could have for my first step into this world. My session zero is ready; my equally noob players have their characters with backstory and the overarching plot of a campaign is already formulating in the back of my mind. So I would just like to say thank you for inspiring me to do this! I’ve loved Talisman (1st edition, black and white adventure cards) since I was a kid. And loved the idea of role playing but never took that step until now.
@@1AngelAlita Yes! I’m now in the middle of a campaign. I tweaked some of the rules to simplify them as all my players are new to rpgs but everyone is enjoying it.
I pre-ordered the hardcopy a while ago. I am a bit jealous you already have a hardcopy. I also bought the soft copy PDF on DTRPG. I have been painting all of my Talisman miniatures from the board game over the past several months, so I have them for the TTRPG. I am going to start playing this weekend. I love how similar the feel is to the original game with the exception of the competitive component.
Major quibble: The Watcher mechanic does not determine if an encounter happens - daytime travel ALWAYS triggers one. (see p.214) The watcher's first test is to spot the encounter ahead of time, allowing avoidance or establishing an ambush, and the second to know what it is before making the choice to encounter, avoid, or ambush. Only nighttime encounters are not automatic - and tis the person who locates the campsite that determines the chance of a nighttime encounter.
Personally, I love random encounters...BUT yes, it can completely destroy a narrative. Since I wanted an excuse to roll dice on my side of the screen anyway, I would make the watcher's roll for them, which would allow me to fudge it if something like this cropped up. While I do appreciate having less work to do in combat (recently abandoned a 3rd edtion d&d campaign because I had two players who hadn't read the rules, their animal companions, NPC party members to round out the group, multiple groups of NPCs/Monsters, and I'm doing all the math and rules mechanics, and that was just level 1), as the eternal GM I never get to roll my dice in a completely player-facing system, so I'm always looking for workarounds. But I do love the sound of this combat system, and the way Followers work. I'm likely making some rolls for them behind the screen, like watching, searching for traps and secret doors. But I'll probably try it rules as written first before tweaking it. Totally buying this game. Just ordered it and the GM Kit. Fingers crossed the Druid can do all the stuff my eternal elf druid player wants her to, otherwise it won't get played too often. lol.
So sad to find out the game is no longer. I recently bought everything I could your videos inspired me to get the game. It is now no more its a shame. How do you feel about it being gone now?
Wow! Another great video. I am very excited about this system. Makes for great story telling and now i want to buy the board game too. I wish I heard about this boardgame before. -Jacob
Good morning, I realy like that somoene did make trpg from talisman, it was my first board game anyway... But how about followers, are they necesary? Are there some problems if i dont want to use them? And are the followers listed in book? Thank you sir for your help have a nice day.
There are some examples of followers in the book and a very simple mechanic to use them. Although, I suppose ultimately it’s up to you if and how you use followers in the game. PS Nice name.
I purchased the pdf and have run a couple one shots and this game is really fun! I made myself a google doc that I used as a reference to quickly get information about mechanics. You can use headers to quickly find what you need. Feel free to use it if you want to! docs.google.com/document/d/1yzzRuqrUvmFAUg6xCIOkkZwDFIezu1HhRuYhFGE91zU/edit?usp=sharing Edit: Fixed link

How was it?
@@Karnivori unfortunately it hasn’t happened. One of my players is going through a rough time at the moment so we’ve postponed it.
@@chillialexander Did you get to play it?

Recently got this discounted. Got the book and gm screen with some adventures for about $30. Now I want to read through it, and play solo if I can.

I really want to play it, but I'm not sure how to convince my friends to play it. How would I go about doing that?
Tell them it's light and fun and they can be kick-ass using the system!
Lol just bring it up and be like let's try it
Hello Guy, nice video!
Is there enough information/support in the GM book to craft your own adventures, monsters, items, player races; etc?
What about monster morale? Do monsters always fight to the death?
How close are the physical books to hitting retail?
Looks like they'll be out mid December, according to their site
@@mgb360 - Thanks! Hopefully see them here Jan-Feb then.
Pretty dang good.
That one looks good

There are many followers listed in the book, but you don't need to include them if you don't want.
