Best commercial ever coming from a 3 generation military family gets me every time and gives me a smile for all the games my parents went to; Dad WW II, Brother Cold War, Son Enduring Freedom Afghanistan, Daughter in law Doha Qatar
I've said it once and I'll say it many more times... the Army/Navy game is THE purist game in all of sports. It's not about multi million dollar contracts, endorsements, rings, or championships. This is about nothing, and I mean NOTHING more than rivalry and pride. I'm retired Navy, yes I root for the Midshipmen, but in the end, when the game is over. I still call Army my brothers and sisters. This is the only game I watch, the hell with the NFL, NBA and MLB. All of those players need to sit down and watch what purity of heart and sacrifice looks like.GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY! HOOYAH!
One of the most touching, brilliant, totally moving pieces of television promotional journalism ever. All of it. The quotes. The music. The videos representing decades of repeated, intimate family moments of trial, of love, of support. "The only game where everyone who plays in it is willing to die for everyone watching it." Just kids, all of them. Rolling tears down the face, right there.
this intro always brings back memories. my grandfather was an infantry officer in WWII and Korea, and told me about USMA officers he'd served with. he knew i was interested in the army and told me if i wanted to be a leader, I should go there. the last conversation i had with him was thanksgiving 1990, and he told me i should go to West Point. he died on 29 november. 51 weeks later, on 22 november 1991, i got my offer of admission. i cried like a baby that night 'cause i knew my granddad was looking out for me. i wear my USMA class ring every day and have a picture of my granddad in my office. my parents supported me, but i wouldn't have had that opportunity without him.
@@Josh-kp8si I understand the joke, but don't think Air Force hasn't lost men and women too. Us Air Force personnel do understand that Army, Navy, Marines have lost many more but we (Air Force) have sacrificed as well.
Incredibly apt and pure statement. Your thoughts are directly on point. Although I am Navy, You Sir, speak for All of Us. Godspeed and Fair Winds Sir. Assuming that you are USMA, I Thank You in advance for your time and consideration in defense of our Home and Country. Your sincere patriotism is not unappreciated. @@Carlos-sd6cz Yes. The graduates of the Naval Academy at Annapolis choose to go into either the US Navy or the US Marines. Typically, about 75% go into the Navy and 25% go into the Marines.
Graduated from Annapolis, been to 8 Army Navy games including The Rose Bowl Game, nothing like it anywhere! The rivalry is unmatched anywhere and when it ends, we are all one team! Taught at Annapolis as well and the character and drive of these midshipmen is an inspiration. The highlight of my life!
I only saw one in person. The 1989 game at the Meadowlands, the very first one in Giants Stadium. Army had dominated the rivalry in the late 80’s and were 2 Touchdown favorites that day, but Navy won 19-17 on a last second FG. It was without question the greatest sporting event I ever saw in person.............one where I felt privileged to be in the company of such greatness of character and spirit. The respective attention each team gives to the other’s alma mater at game’s end is amazing and moving. Watched the ‘83 Rose Bowl game on TV, and recall a beautiful sunny day and a Navy rout : their last win until the 1989 game. Congrats to you for your service and teaching career.
It’s been such an honor to serve this country, regardless of all the ups and downs. Takes a special person to commit to these institutions, god bless the men and women I’ve stood beside
I come back to this every year, especially during Army / Navy Week and it never ceases to get me emotional! Beyond thankful for the men and women of both institutions and so grateful to be able to watch this every year…As a Michigan fan I look forward to this game just as much if not more than “The Game” it’s always bigger than a game and this showdown year in and year out shows that! 🇺🇸
Watching this today in 2020, after all we have been through, and there without question is Army-Navy for the 121st time. Thank you Cadets and Midshipmen! You make us so proud!
The best army navy game intro ever. It plays like a movie and it spells out all of the sacrifices these young people go through and what selflessness they represent. Go Army!!!
Nothing beats Army Navy Game…most emotional game I have ever attended…forget what the football records of either team coming into this game…it’s inconsequential…it’s what these teams represents that makes this game truly great
Wanted West Point, never got in. Life long fan.But during my time in the Army,I had the honor to train Cadets during summer at the Point. Both Camp Buckner, and Camp Natural Bridge. Best assignment I ever had,by FAR! These kids are just different. Be there in 2020. Watching this today during this Virus mess. Army is a lacrosse power and I have season tickets. Huge bummer, team could have made to finals championship weekend in Philly.

I had the privilege of wearing the uniforms of both branches, nothing make me prouder than the moment of saluting the flag of America. The proudest thing I’ve done for my life is that I’ve worn the uniforms of U.S. Army and U.S. Marines before I even became American.😄everyday I woke up I remind of myself the hardships I’ve gone through to be where I’m at and what it meant to swear to defend The Constitution Of United States against all enemies both foreign and domestic. 🙂🇺🇸
