In Mexican Spanish, geoduck is called "almeja generosa" and "almeja chiluda" which translates into "generous clam" and "big dicked clam". It is often sold canned and pre-sliced in brine or oil.
I've been digging these things for four decades now. The largest ones I have dug on land were about 7-8 lbs, (~3.5 Kg), but I have seen siphons on some while scuba diving that dwarfed anything I have seen on land. Some were as big around as my wrist wrapped in 7mm of neoprene and I'm a 220 lb guy. A typical duck is much smaller, maybe 2-4 lbs, but the commercially harvested ones you see here are significantly smaller than that. That's just a matter of growing them commercially in as short a time as possible for maximum return. Still tho Still, I've never heard anyone say the quality is any different. Commercial harvested or not they are the same clams.
The reason why the narrator said it looked like elephant's nose is the original video was dubbed in Korean. In Korean, Geoduck is called "elephant shell (코끼리조개)". So, people for the original video would be curious why it was named so, and this is the reason why this video says about it. Of course, many people there also said about their bizarre shape looking like our *that* part. lol
@@tatianadelrey6529 I will mail you the geoducks I dig up by mistake, when digging for treasure. Be careful. @jhin That means it went limp. A limp geoducl can be a tragedy. If you put it in the pool, it is worse than dead. It shrinks down to embarrassing, shriveled, conditions. It will look like you bothered to show everyone a tiny geoduck. The trick is to keep it alive, out of the pool, and tease it a little, tickle it. That keeps your geoduck looking constantly excited and rather stretched out. To work on the girth of your geoduck, squeeze it regularly. Thus will keep your geoduck thick and impressive to those that see it in all its glory. It may even bruise the feelings of others that have tiny geoducks. There is nothing more impressive than having a long, thick, strong, squiring, throbbing geoduck. Trust me in this. I have had both a small geoduck and later an impressive geoduck after exercise.
