I knew a lady that worked 2nd and 3rd shift. She totaled 7 cars hitting dear commuting to and from work in only a few years. Thank goodness she never got hurt.
I'm streaming to the tv so as soon as I spotted that which was quick, i came to see the comments on the tach not working lol..... then waitong for Randy to spot and mention it lol
That corvette has the Z51 option. The ride control light will come on if the car is started 3 or more times without the car moving. It will reset when it senses movement over 5 mph.
Ray Mears (a UK survival expert) Once said''if you want to drive into the desert use a land rover,if you want to get out of the desert drive a Landcruiser..'' 😋😁
The Transmission on the 1999 Corvette is located in the rear of the vehicle. The Transmission also contains the rear end drive assembly. It is not located on the rear of the engine block as in a traditional vehicle. There is a Drain plug on the bottom of the transmission gear box assembly, as well as a fill/check plug on the side to add and check fluid levels. So, you'd have to have it level and get under it to check.
Randy quick tip. you can check the codes on the C5 Hold the options button while pushing the fuel button 4 times then it will display the codes but make sure you hit the reset button till you see the mileage first
He has 0 skills his rebuild is to throw a battery in and resell a car. Unless he gets a corvette for free he abandons anything too hard to fix like a mustang that needs a easy engine rebuild. Suck it Randy you loser.
Common solution for your traction ,abs light is a module that goes bad that's on the left front comer next to the radiator where all the brake lines go into and can be removed and sent out for repair in most cases and you still can use the car with it removed.
I have been waiting on Tool to be playing in one of these cars for years since I’ve been watching these copart videos . Too bad you didn’t win the c5 really wanted to see it but it went way to damn high
Thanks Randy for your support!!!! The SS are blah when stock but with ur own flare they turn into what they should’ve been like out of the factory! Oh I’m happy to see that I’m not the only one that uses the same area for my change spot 😂
Good place to start with the suspension control is at the abs light. A lot of times once that kicks on for whatever reason the computer turns other things off for safety. I would almost bet you fix that issue the rest will work again.
The C5 model of the popular Corvette was produced from 1997 to 2004. The C5 does not have a dipstick to check the transmission fluid. The fluid level must be checked by raising the car and accessing the fill plug next to the transmission pan. The car must be raised sufficient to safely access the area.
Just got in from plowing. We're getting a bunch of snow. Figured I'd have a cold snack and watch before dinner, then its back out to plow again, then to the store to take care of billing and start next week's order.
Not surprised that the service vehicle and abs lights are on. Fun fact about 97-00 Corvettes, you can't find ANY of the electronics that go into the stability system. Steering wheel position sensor, EBTCM, Adjustable shocks, etc.
Your tachometer is inop. Check the harmonic balancer and make sure it is not coming apart. You will see it wobble. That is a major problem which will cause belt noise. The AC light is blinking due to either low refrigerant or bad compressor clutch. Possible wheel speed sensor on the trac issue. Probably a switch issue for security. It can be bypassed.
Hi from Australia ,the last car you showed was a "general motor holden " commodore "SS" V8 great car here ,every man and his dog wanted one ,sadly no more .
Randy, thanks for another great vid! Rather than wasting $15/16K on a Viper that will drain your wallet in a hurry, then challenge you to flip it profitably, spend the $8/10K on the Impala that won’t break the bank to fix and can be flipped easily. Hope you get the C5 at $4/5K; it would be a nice flip. The Range Rover - Run Away, Run Away‼️ (same for the Honda Hybrid) Stay Safe.
So I may be a bit late here, but have worked on c5s and c6s for almost 15 years now. Normally the ride control is pretty reliable. A lot of the time, low voltage at startup with a dead battery like that car had can cause issues. The shocks are expensive tho. Like 3-400 a piece. Another good thing to look at is the shroud over the top of the radiator. If the car hit something underneath hard, it snaps the upper shroud off where it bolts to the top of frame. Also they can have hvac issues. Vacuum lines under the battery rot. Especially if it had a battery leak or go bad... My experience with the c5 is that it’s an extremely reliable car tho.
I rented a impala one time while wife car was getting fixed super sick ride !!!! I’d buy it all day long the ss I’d say worth 9-11 k motor alone and interior is worth it
I have a 99 randy. The noise you hear is the harmonic balancer. Did you hear a knock on cold start up? It’s piston slap. . It will go away when it gets warm. Good little car . Mine is black conv.
The traction and ABS light is a common issue. On a 99 , it is not rebuildable and no longer made. You may find a good used one for $1500. The chirp is usually a harmonic balancer going bad. The display on the HVAC is rebuildable for about $175 .
The corvette will display all of the codes for you ignition on car off reset button to clear warning's hold options press fuel four times then it will go through codes automatically but you can also manually go through them everything from pcm tcs radio hvac and a bunch more. could be dirty grounds to a wheel sensor to the ebcm needing resoldered I fixed mine that way. got to be a master electrical and soldering fool to own a c5
Randy same as my 01 c5. Luckily my 01 doesnt have the bcm. This 99 does and pretty much guarantee that's your issue. Good luck finding one or swap the whole car to the newer ecm and delete the bcm. Nice car for the price. Lots of potential. Magna ride hud and other options make it a z51 package car.
The corvette trans dip stick was there just tucked in under windshield and also noticed tach wasn't working so dash cluster is messed up thus why the cooling display doesn't work.
Hey Randy, been watching your channel for a good 3 years and haven’t missed out on a upload since, today is my 17th birthday and hope to do the same car rebuilds and resales as you do on the channel, cheers and stay safe😎
Traction control and ABS light coming on in a pre-2001 C-5 means you should run! That's the electronic brake control module. It's not rebuildable on pre-2001s and they don't make it anymore. The only way to get another one is to source it from another corvette and they cost a LOT of money.
I really do like that Civic Hybrid, It's not too often you see that gen, a 7th, in Hybrid. Would I buy it and drive it as a first car? Yes I would. I think it needs a tune up, coils, plugs, wire, etc. Thanks for the video, Randy.
I think the Honda civic hybrid has either the engine light covered up or burnt out and battery light is more than likely caused by a no Com with the battery.
Get the Vette!! LOL I mean, I'm a little biased, since I have a 2003 Z06 with 50k miles... plus you can mod them easily... but I honestly think you'll really love it!
A few years ago i had a deer run into the side of my car at night and it scared the crap out of me. I got out and went to the ditch where i thought the thing landed. It got up looked at me and ran off leaving me with a car that was a write-off.
Had almost an identical deer strike. Deer are stupid, hit the drivers side headlight, then down that side. So for sure, it happens. Insurance company looked for deer remnants to validate claim as animal strike.
Randy the battery light went off before you got out the car. On that white civic I don’t think you noticed it. Cause you said the battery light was on. It actually started charging.

I think someone has walked in high heels before.
Randy, back in 1986, a deer ran directly into my then new '86 Cougar. Yep, it looked just like this Impala...
I drive a 19 Impala as my daily. it was a rental. it has 41.000 miles on it I paid $19.000 it was not wrecked. and yes they are amazing cars.
The C5 has the transmission in the back. There is no dip stick. You have to raise the car (level) and remove the fill plug to check the fluid level.
Cool ,I'll let my wife know, I'd grab a c6 if ever have toy money
I came looking for this comment before I commented it lol.
Randy the trans is mounted in the back on the rear axle. Torque tube connects them
Great vette! I love the c5s!

I have a 2018 Impala and I love it. I also have a 2011 that has been great to own. I would take the 2019 Impala in a heartbeat.
Yep. A buck ran into my daughter's car right at the A piller, flip over, landed on the windshield! Crushed the roof down to the steering wheel...
