i also didnt expect a review from him about a 3D printer but i really liked it! I just bought mine exactly for inserts and other QOL stuff and I have been printing nonstop for 4 days now. I printed one insert and then went down the rabbit hole of Minuatures.... I do hope he does more videos about 3D printed stuff related to board games!
I've been using the X1C (one step up from this) since July and loved it. No major issues, only small snags I've learned from and moved on. I'd suggest the A1 as the best for focusing on board game inserts and indoor toys. No encloser or a few other features like the camera, but that's fine for PLA printing. I think the price on Bambu filament is great as long as you buy in sets of 6 spools or more for the full bulk price.
I have had an Endor 3 Pro for almost 3 years. I have had a variety of issues, but have trouble-shooted and mostly resolved them. I have printed hundreds of game inserts, upgrades, and miniatures for many of my games. My grandson has designed 18 new characters for Unmatched that I have made minatures for. I designed & printed replacement parts and problem solving items for around the house. I am considering a Bambu Labs A1 in the future.
I started with an ender 3 and after numerous upgrades, I could almost never print back to back successfully. I did learn a lot about fixing 3d printers though. I stepped up to a Bambu X1C for over a year now and it is amazing! I’ve had maybe a handful of issues in that timespan and I would highly recommend anyone to skip other brands and go right to Bambu!
As a keen board gamer I've followed your channel for a few years now, so it's a bizarre coincidence that I am a week away from ordering my first ever 3d printer, I'd looked at the P1S, but have decided on the A1 for now. This is still incredibly useful, and I'm looking forward to the other promised videos 🙂👍
If people are interested, Bambulab has black Friday sales in 2 days. I have an X1C and A1 myself, X1C is for the special stuff and the A1 is for bulk printing inserts etc with a 5kg roll 😅
Ooo, shiny glass showing the monitor. Glad to see this review, as I've been thinking about this particular printer, specifically for broad games (but other items as well).
I heard Ender 3 PTSD is something that can be diagnosed. Great to see you found a printer you like. I am looking to get a Multi-Head printer like the Prusia XL to have less wasteful multi material/color printing.
Totally agree. When I had an Ender 3 it was a hobby and continuously trying to get it to work. when I got a Bambu P1s it is night and day. It has printed perfectly, 10x as fast, and makes prints that look almost like resin prints - incredibly smooth. Things just print correctly, every time. And the software is great as well. ++++
I had zero issues with my X1C in the past year but I'm only printing inserts (with some kids toys on occasion). Amazing machine. I am also only using the Bambu filament.
I had a Creality Cr10 v2 before I got a Bambu X1C. It is such a huge difference. When I bought my X1C, it the P1S was not available. Otherwise I would have bought the P1S. But be careful, the A1 series is not comparable. It is a totally different type of printer.
I appreciate the honesty.. however it sits really uncomfortable with me when someone can afford it is just like "saw it, wanted it, promised a review, got it for free".. would i do the same? Totally! Does knowing that make me less uncomfortable? No, i dunno why
That's a very fair way of putting it and I don't disagree. Ultimately while I can afford luxury purchases here and there, I actively have to make decisions about where I get to do that; money is not so free that I can afford to ignore the oppurtunity to save it.
I assume you wanted to keep this video shorter. There is so much to talk about in the 3d printing space, besides the myriad of printers available. (Maybe you said it already.) When using BL filament, the spools have identification on them, so the AMS automatically knows what the filament is and configures it automatically. If you use filament without these identifiers, its simple to configure those filaments, so the slicer uses the correct configurations, like temperatures. I think people have figured out how to reuse those identifiers. Another thing to mention is Bambu Studio (slicing app) and it's features as well as Bambu Handy (mobile app). I've been using Bambu Studio to cut apart other people's 3d models and then add primitive shapes to create new player dashboards for games. The 3d modeling side of things can also be it's own hobby. So many rabbit holes to go down.
I just can't do FDM printers any more. I print all of my tabletop miniatures now and FDM just can't get the same detail (yet at least) and resin printing has come down in price soooooo much in the last 8 years from when I was in college
Thanks for sharing this. Do you do any of the design/modeling yourself or everything you get from online sites? 3D printing is something i want to get into, and something I eventually want to get my kids into., but I suck at modeling
I have the P1S. I’ve had no issues and I’ve used tons of different brands of filaments. I do the recommended maintenance every 4 weeks or so. I’ll never own anything but Bambú. I love it.
The type of issues that occurred after the first few days are exactly what someone watching a review wants to know. Burying any mention of the actual issues in a separate video does a disservice and gives the appearance you’re trying to inflate your viewer metrics. If you genuinely want to keep videos shorter, scripting and/or editing them down is a good way to go.
What a strange take...I understand that you might prefer to have it all in one video, but to assume I'm trying to inflate metrics...the extra $1.50 I'll make from the extra views isn't worth it....plus I could just include it all in one video, add another midroll ad, and it makes no difference. Ultimately I believe that a 12 minute breakdown of the the nature of the issues, would sidetrack from the overall review. My goal here was to illustrate that this printer was NOT issue free, but to then catalogue the details separately especially given the fact that trying to narrow down what causes the problem and what solved the problem is not easy to establish.
Been 3D printing for over 10 years. Upgraded to a Bambu X1C this year and woah it's awesome
They're game changers! I have 2 and they replaced all my other printers.
Awesome!
Whoa, didn't expect to see a review a 3d printer!
Well done review of the printer. I'll be looking forward to more coverage.

At first glance of the thumbnail I thought it was a washing machine lol

Wait till you have finished printing JS500’s trove chest insert!
Oh man....didn't know about that :)
Still waiting for BambuLabs to release a printer with at least 35x35cm printbed. 😅

I have the p1p which is a little more barebones than the p1s. Its just as good

hi! I got mine a week ago. Could you describe how your monthly maintenance routine looks like? thanks :)
