watching that was like experiencing an adventure! My CPL/fATPL in Europe was like lonely long marathon. Happy to see your best memories, thx for sharing!
In 1980's those without flight experience went to Hondo TX and got some time in a C172. How times have changed. I was stationed at Laughling AFB in Del Rio and back then everyone started UPT in a T-37 "Tweet". A lot of AF Academy grads went through and those who washed out were mostly sent to Navigator School.
FSPOT at Hondo in a T-41 was not training. It was Flight Screening. 2 guys “washed out” in my class. I have no idea what these butter bars are training for. This is no UPT/JSUPT I’ve ever seen. Looks way too easy and relaxed.
Chillax fellas, we all know UPT was a pressure cooker/meatgrinder…. Let them enjoy their accomplishments! I’m sure when it comes time to meet the challenges of UPT they’ll do just fine. Pretty sure they are showing up with way more applicable skills and knowledge than all of us coming out of Hondo. All I remembered from FSPOT was that my instructor looked just like Roy Orbison (dark glasses and all) and the dang sky tractor that kept busting across our patterns when he came back to tank up… 😂. Welcome to the fraternity folks! Study hard and earn those coveted silver wings, do us old farts proud!
Who’s bashing anybody? I’ve never seen this Ab initio training for the USAF UPT pipeline. Good time to be a 2nd Lt in the pilot pipeline. Easy no pressure flying and no one washes out since we’re short of pilots. And “UPT” is only a few months and not a year. Just fly the magenta line like an airline pilot. Nice.
I am EAD in Jan to Columbus and was told I am going to IPT but I don't know anything about it. Can I ask you a couple questions related to the training, life, and ops tempo??

I love to see your journey in the USAF. Thank you for holding us up to date and All the Best for you from Germany!
That was fun. It's nice to see such joy while doing something you love.
That’s awesome! Neat seeing the military side of it all. Looks like when I went to college for flight school. Enjoy the journey
@@gort8203 work hard, play hard. Im sure they are fine.

@@apexclip3458This was a form of initial flight training, a precursor to UPT. I will have to complete UPT following this program to earn my wings.
@@apexclip3458 Yup. My thoughts exactly. They have time for pool parties? How about studying the manual for the T-6?

Wow. Pueblo sucked compared to the way this looks! Plus you’re in Texas! Best of luck in the T-6. Easily the most fun I’ve had so far!
Thank you for sharing!
Couple of Zoomies- glad to see them doing great off in the big blue!

Hey! I got selected for pilot training and don’t have PPL, so I would be going to IFT. I thought it was only 5 weeks though, how long were you there?
What aircraft did you use for the multi engine training?
lucky you
What is this? So this is some new type of USAF UPT now? No T-6, T-1, T-44, T-38?
This is Initial Pilot Training, not UPT. I will still do a slightly shortened T6 syllabus as part of UPT, following this program!
@@graceeverts8619 Ahh. I guess the USAF needs to find other ways to train for cost savings and efficiency as opposed to the way we used to do UPT.
how long is your (UPT)?
Is this going to the new IFT-UPT pipeline?
And since it’s only T-6 is this program for tanker/heavy pilots only?
Is this the new Doss IFT?
The AF is still trying out variations of this program at different 141 flight schools & gathering more data, but it’s certainly looking that way!
I had no idea this was a thing. Pretty neat idea, and I would think it saves some money for the tax payers!
