More than 2-million words in the English language, none can describe the brilliance of the composer, or the majesty of this performance. Actually brought me to tears. 10,000-thanks.
The first time I heard this music, I saw in front of me the sun rising behind the mountains. Later that day, I found out I was perfectly right. What a wonderful piece of music!
I can barely see through the tears in my eyes! A most magnificent interpretation and performance of one of the most magnificent works of classical music ever written! You truly have a gift from God to move a soul as much as you do!
The first movie dealing with "the final frontier" that looked "real" to me. Also Sprach Zarathustra was perfect for the beginning and ending to this epic film IMHO. As a teenager I had no problem paying three times to try and understand what I was visually absorbing and finding so incredibly beautiful and mind blowing. I wised up further and read the book at least two times.Thank you for your performance Jonathan and thank you Tom for the visual beauty. The music stands by itself with or without the film. Just incredible.
Spectacular introduction & amazing views of the cathedral & Gaia installation. It must have been incredible to have been there. Reminds me so much of your 1st home concert. Aaah, happy days!!
IT Good as your word, Jonathan; on Thursday you said you and Tom had been busy the night before. So this is what you were doing! Another wonderful example of your (and Tom's) brilliance. See you on 11th April. I guess Philip might have mentioned to you that he opened his 2012 DVD with ALSO SPRACH ZARATHUSTRA and that he include Holst's JUPITER in it. So pertinent to the cathedral's Discover Gaia season. Thanks so much for all your performances, and for the stunning views you share with us on this channel of the venues you visit on your travels around the world. My current play-it-again favourites are your LASCIA CH'IO PIANGA and BARBER OF SEVILLE OVERTURE (piano and organ duo with Tom).
Wow... I took off but managed to land on planet earth. Thank you Jonathan, for the cosmic musical journey. We earthlings, poor mortals, can only travel through the cosmos this way. I'm glad I didn't find any extraterrestrials on the way hahaha.... Tom, congratulations on the spectacular photography and image. This purple and lilac tone is one of the colors that best matches the universe, as well as this song. Congratulations to both! Five star trip. 🌎⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Inspired choice with Gaia in place - even more so was Jonathan’s solo organ performance of The Planets Suite (complete) in the Cathedral. Very special being there to hear it
WOW!!! INCREDIBLE MOMENT. Listening with awe and goosebumps all over again and again., from head to toe. I'm gonna play this piece all over. Thank you for sharing!
Breathtaking and what cinematography and sound from Tom. You both know how to put on a show.. Your channel changed my life. I fell in love with organ music when I was in an orchestra in my teens and found it again on your channel when over 50. Bravo
Chilling, powerful, exciting. I could go on and on, but you have better ways to spend your time. This was awesome, thank you. Beautifully shot, Tom. XX
What a taste of the concert on the incredible organ of Chester Cathedral. The live concert on May 21, 2021 on this Organ is one of my favorites among all your brilliant productions. I hope that we will have the video of the complete concert of March 3, with the Amazing "Planets" of Gustave Holst. I really like everything you do. Thank you so much Tom and Jonathan.
One of the earliest RCA stereo recordings was from 8 March 1954, Fritz Reiner conducting the Chicago Symphony at Orchestra Hall, Chicago, performing Richard Strauss's "Also Sprach Zarathustra". That organ had a low C which was famously flat. I don't know why they couldn't tune it up properly.
Wonderful transcription and performance! Many thanks for recording and posting this. Now we have the Strauss, next will we have the Sibelius? (Pelléas et Mélisande, (Suite) , Op. 46 - I. 'At The Castle Gate'). The theme music to "The Sky at Night" for several decades!
Beginning to see why that disclaimer was needed! Tom, you have a head for heights that I certainly don't. That globe is certainly impressive and you couldn't really not record that iconic piece could you! It is also just about the first piece Jonathan has recorded that I could definitely play myself!! Now looking forward to the feature presentation...
Great performance, Jonathan! This is probably the best known 2 minutes of music ever composed! The 70's movie, "2001 A Space Odessey" is probably Stanley Kubrick's best known work and film masterpiece. Best regards, Will Ortiz
1968 - having seen the film in the original Cinerama projection several times, hearing this intro instantly brings back the awesomeness of the experience, sending chills throughout
Loved this - except for one thing: Where was the REST of Also Sprach Zarathustra!?!??? Any chance of a performance of the whole thing!? I'd LOVE to hear that!!!!!
I take advantage of the mention of Straus in this piece of music and suggest playing Strauss' main waltzes in some palaces around the world that have a pipe organ. Palace of Versailles, Mafra, Buckingham Palace Ballroom, California Palace of the Legion of Honor, Palace of Arts Budapest, Canton Palace Theater... 🏰🎶
I keep forgetting that this is called "Sunrise", and every time I'm reminded, I kick myself because it fits that theme perfectly. Lovely sound, beautiful location! Did I detect the old "fifth on the pedals" at the end there? I got organ grade 4 at school, and that's one thing that stuck with me :)
I have goosebumps. Extremely well done!
More than 2-million words in the English language, none can describe the brilliance of the composer, or the majesty of this performance. Actually brought me to tears. 10,000-thanks.
One of the most beautiful organ pieces ever.
totally
will anyone talk about ric flair@@spongebobcoolduke1537
The first time I heard this music, I saw in front of me the sun rising behind the mountains.
Later that day, I found out I was perfectly right.
What a wonderful piece of music!
My first time hearing this music was watching a space guy action figure hop across floating platforms.
I can barely see through the tears in my eyes! A most magnificent interpretation and performance of one of the most magnificent works of classical music ever written! You truly have a gift from God to move a soul as much as you do!
All one can say is WOW!!!

Amazing! Simlpy Amazing!
Words can’t describe how wonderful this is! Thanks for another amazing performance!
This must be incredible when you're actually there, and can _feel_ it.
It's a small step for man but a giant leap for humanity 🌍🧑🚀🌕
OH! That HUGE 32' Trombone at CCCC, so satisfying !! 😄
Superb ... of course!
A galaxy's worth of stars is how I rate this video and performance.🌌 Bravo!! Oh, to have been there in person. 🌠 Thanks for sharing. 🌟🌟🎹🎶
Simply fantastic performance. Goosebumps all the way. Thanks for sharing.
You have wonderfully rendered the mysterious and grandiose atmosphere of this work. Thanks for a magical moment. Serge Marcoux
The only masterpiece when I almost lost my breath.
Spectacular introduction & amazing views of the cathedral & Gaia installation. It must have been incredible to have been there. Reminds me so much of your 1st home concert. Aaah, happy days!!
The dawn of Man's intelligence on planet Earth. Immortal !
Chillling! Been a long time since this has been heard!
Beautiful!
WOW !!! :
I really felt that
and understood what YOU were playing
and why it was written down by the composer
... and why this piece is so powerful.

WOW - epic performance both in sound and video, especially the ending....!!

Very great!
Wonderful.
I love this organ. I have seen and heard a number of people playing it. No one as good as Jonathan though. A terrific performance. James.
Hallo!!

With Love from the Netherlands.

I'll pick up my jaw now, from the size of that thing! Divinely inspired organ.
Wow. Just WOW!!!
Magnificent!
Absolutely fantastic - live must be the ultimate
Que dire ???? Juste Wow !! 🎶 💙🎶Et MERCI !!!

Superbe 2001 l'odyssée de l'espace avec l orgue 👍👍👏👏👏💓
I'd love to hear the entirety of "Also Sprach Zarathustra" from you!
Absolutely amazing Jonathan!😁👏👏👏👏
Sounds magnificent on the organ. Thanks Johnathan and Tom.
Great music like you never heard before from a fantastic organist !
Awesome!!
Imposing and masterful!!
Intense and sublime!!
Congrats and Thanks!! 👏👏👏💖😘😘
Absen tetap semangat berkaria dan berkreasi semoga chanelnya tambah maju terus dan selalu hadir di cintai penonton amin
Just stunning!
Amazing👏👏👏👏
Fantastica arrangement, especially as the orchestral score also includes the organ. Only thing missing here is the percussion.

I hope to find more pieces from this concert very soon! Maybe another performance of "The Planets" by Holst on this outstanding organ!!
wow good job 👏👍
Unglaublicher Sound und auf den Punkt gespielt....WOW, WOW, WOW...
Divine!!!!!!
Lindo, maravilhoso! Obrigada a vocês por este maravilhoso vídeo!

TIL that 1968 was in the 70s.
Certainly
Impactante!!!
I AM in heaven...only in heaven do you get these sounds 😇😇😇😇😇😇
Bravissimo Jonathan❤❤
Great music. Can I listen to your music on spotify aswell?
Loved this - except for one thing: Where was the REST of Also Sprach Zarathustra!?!??? Any chance of a performance of the whole thing!? I'd LOVE to hear that!!!!!
I saw the original movie, but have almost no memory of it!
Top
I'd love to hear this played on the Cavaille-Coll at St Ouen. I can imagine its contra bombard and chamades opening up on the last note.
I take advantage of the mention of Straus in this piece of music and suggest playing Strauss' main waltzes in some palaces around the world that have a pipe organ. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
😍😍😍
Ohhh the rocket LUANCH
I’m afraid I can’t do that, Dave…
Does anyone know what stop makes that note at exactly 12:35?
The main theme on the organ sounds brilliant, but you do need the kettle drums!
This song feels like defeating Bloobath first try in Geometry Dash
For me it always will be opening music from 2001: A space odyssey...
Fin fin fin
Tolle Dramatik, aber oft missbraucht.
Wie soll man den Sinn vollständig erfassen, wenn vier Strophen weggelassen werde? Sehr schade 👎
Kind of flat, left wanting...
When will you be doing the rest of the piece?
