My dad had me when he was 52. He always said he didnt want children because he didnt think he'd be a good dad. But I tell you what, he is the best dad I could ever ask for. I wouldn't change him for the world. We did everything together. I never went without. He's taught me a lot of valuable life lessons that perhaps a younger parents wouldn't have.

My Dad died at the age of 80 when i was 15 and my sister was 12. He had 3 other adult children. Dad always 'prepared' me for that fact he would pass before seeing my sister and I grow up into adults. Had conversations about death etc. He was the most amazing and loving parent and i never felt like i was missing out and he made sure we didnt miss out of doing, 'younger family' experiences.
I only vaguely remember having any sort of negative feelings when people would assume he was my grandparent. It never bothered him.
I have 3 kids and im 31 and it's exhausting enough, cant imagine Dad doing it at the age he was.
Wouldnt change him for the world, he was all i ever needed as a parent and so much more ❤

@kymreid2847 I loved your comment. My daughter's dad died when she was a baby. It was sudden and unexpected. She didn't know him but I talked about him and had lots of video and photos of him holding her. I decided to not get into serious relationships until my daughter grew up. I had lots of friends and a great career growing. You were so lucky to have had such a great dad.
I came accross a horrible response to your wonderful comment. It's just recently been posted. It was in all caps and full of hate. I reported it and it seems to have been taken down. Just keep those wonderful memories of your dad. I'll bet he is very proud of you.

@@elizabethgrogan8553I see that the comment is right above yours. I think the truth lies right in the middle. Yes, the woman’s comments were harsh, but she was right in the sense that after a certain age, like 43, no one should have children-serious health risks, don’t have the same energy, and most importantly will not live long enough to care and love the child. Although this girl has really fond memories, she doesn’t have a father at her young age.

I commend all of the parents and kids here. I too am the child of older parents. My dad was 58 and Ma was 38. I was raised with excellent values and knowledge that transcends time. I lost Dad at age 11 and just lost Ma after 47 years. I was so fortunate to have older parents. As a kid, I was more mature than my peers and as a adult I’m so much better prepared than those in my age group. The patience my parents had and the knowledge they had made me a much better person.

I loved this video! Thank you so much for shooting it. My 1st husband and I were older when we married; I was 28 and Vernon was 38. But the love between us was real. Vernon had been married b4 and had 2 sons. We shared custody with their mom. Vernon had had a vasectomy after #2 was born, but that was almost 10 years b4 we married. After 5 years together, we started talking about having our own child. Vernon's vasectomy was reversed in October 1982, and in February, I found I was pregnant. I was 33 when Shauna was born 11 27 83. Beautiful! My doctor said she would probably be our only one......BUT in February 1984, Vernon was throwing up so much he was missing work. On 10 10 84, Brooke was born. I was 34. My doctor said no more......BUT on 6 16 86, Jacki was born. Vernon had his 2nd vasectomy in May 1986. I was 36 right after Jacki was born. For years, we were called their grandparents, but we said we were slow learners. Shauna will be 40 this November. She has given us 2 granddaughters; Brooke has 3 sons; and Jacki has a daughter. In 2013, Vernon went to be with the Lord, 34 years had passed, but they were soooo wonderful.

The fact that I have an 23, 20 and a 19 year old when I hit the age of 46 its mind blowing to me.. I get that this lovely couple didn’t choose for this baby but accidents will not happen here. Or me or my husband will get fixed when the 3rd is born!
I could never start all over again at the age of 46 so very much respect for these parents

my father and his girlfriend hsd a "change of life baby" she was also told she was experiencing menopsuse...but had s baby they didn't expect int hier 40's since they wern't in a fullly committed relstionsip and her moether was experenincing great mental hesath issues...long stroy short, I ended up raising my bsby sister (14 years my junior) her mother died when she was 11 and our father was living in a retirement community. I would NEVER have changed it because she is an absolute blessing that is now 25 and in grad school but it was a very traumatic situation for all. I still struggle with my relationship with my father.

I'm 48 and Adopted our baby from foster care this year. He came to us 15 months ago at 2 months. I think about being 68 when hes 20 but God brought him to us for a reason. I couldn't gave children so I thought I'd help children. Never dreamed I'd get a baby much less adopt him. But he's amazing and he is loved. God will guide us and our future.

My dad is 81 now, 48 when I came along. He is still going strong. He renovated his kitchen a couple of years ago. He still travels abroad with my mom, gardening, even ice skates with his young grandchildren Keeping yourself active is the key.
I don't know you, but I think you are and will continue to be a great mom to your son. Don't worry about the future.

The couple looks so much older than 46 & 48? They look like they're in their late 50s. But kudos to them for being parents at their age which is actually in today's standard is not old at all. Bless them. I'm sure they're wonderful parents.

I don't know how Faye can still work with Paul even though he moved on so quickly with someone else after they broke up. I think I would be upset every day at work too, nevermind being pregnant as well!
