Amanita muscaria, colloquially known as the fly agaric, is a highly toxic hallucinogenic mushroom, that looks almost EXACTLY like the one in the Mario games. @@cupriferouscatalyst3708I have these amanita muscaria capsules that I’ve been holding onto for a few months. Worried it’s gonna make me sick rather than having a nice trippy time
That "Mall Near You" game is honestly just wholesome. I wish there were more games that are like it and look like it. The style is really cool. Edit: And it referenced Sears!
Like it just felt how scary a mall could feel to a kid when they had no idea what was going on. In reality it's just a mall full of minimum wage workers just trying to get through the day. Only spooky because you're like twelve and your mom dropped you off because she has to go to her job and is using the mall as a babysitter real quick. The art style was fantastic. I wasn't expecting it.
It's actually a complete rip-off of an older game called "Scanner Sombre" Or rather, it's a copy of the gmod "Lidar" mod, which is a clone of Scanner Sombre
It’s weird that Mark has played more than one Animal Crossing-themed horror game in this series. It’s the last game I’d ever expect to have horror elements, but maybe that’s why people are so interested in the idea.
@@lousannesherlock261 The game that I call scary owl game bcos the character you play as is called Blathers and he's upright walking on two legs is just as scary as anything else in that game. Btw I'm rewatching them myself and am currently on 3 Scary Games #15.
I actually liked that last one. One of those uncomfortable/suspense games that's not the usual 'horror' cliche of loud noises and jumpscares around every corner.
Modern horror is too reliant on Jumpscares. I think that mall game is one of the few proper horror games I've seen in recent times. Granted I haven't seen many recent horror games, but the mall one definitely did a better job of having a disconcerting atmosphere than others I've seen.
I'm absolutely in love with the third game (starts at 21:26) lmao. It's a perfect balance of comedy and horror (well, maybe not true horror, but it was great at portraying an uncomfortable, liminal feeling). Oh, and the artwork for the people at the mall!! It was so cute, I loved it
yea i really loved the mall game, i was so sure it was building up everything just to have a bad ending but that was so nice lmao just a great time all-around
@@matrixyst Yeah, I was expecting all of the mannequins to come to life or something at the end 😅 Still think that would've been kind of cool, but I like the nice, simple ending too.
The artstyle for the workers was so cool. Also, dunno if anyone else noticed or has said, but I'm pretty sure the pop vinyl that was given to the player was a bingus figure and I adore that.
@@Bluegay I was thinking that too!! I first thought they were supposed to be pigs or something... Honestly, I still can't really tell. But Bingus makes the most sense lol.
I honestly would play a full length game set in that mall. Like a creepy-mystery meets slice-of-life, keeping all the charm and nostalgia and references. I would be REALLY into that.
The problem with Lidar.exe is that Mark missed every instance where the scanner was supposed to detect signs of a mysterious figure appearing in your path. Multiple times, even in the house, if I recall correctly. 😅 I'm not sure how he managed to miss them all.
Wasn't there a game almost exactly like that? Where you were getting out of a cave using the same method of pathfinding and you were being hunted by ghost witches or something. I forgot the name.
Lidar stands for Light Detection and Ranging, it's a remote sensing method that involves moving a pulsing laser pointed at the ground in a straight line (with a plane, drone, satellite, or boat) and measuring how long it takes to return to the source, creating a depth (or elevation if values are reversed) point map.
and then with another program, you can tweak it so only certain elevations show up x) Its a nice way to uncover old tombs and lost planes and such in jungles as well for another fun example- for people who only watch the stupid gold digging shows and not any of the other great stuff on Discovery/History
@@JackSpadeTaylor Oh I hadn't even thought of that use, that's really cool! All of my experience comes from geomatics; using it for forest canopy cover studies, elevation maps, finding utility lines in fields and under asphalt, stuff like that
i like to think mark doesnt actually have a soundboard, and that he can make all those noises naturally its pretty in line that we’d be watching an eldritch creature be one of the best content creators here for several years tbh
I wonder if the person who made the mall game had ever worked at a mall before, because the setup was actually VERY accurate - even with the service tunnels! And the aura of what a closed mall looks like
@@phantompop3192 I wouldn't say that I'm brave it's really just that I have a hard time with humans and an easy time with the unknown (for example eldritch horrors) I prefer things most humans label as "monsters" or "scary", and I think the reason is because I'm intrigued by what the human mind can't understand

Amanita muscaria, colloquially known as the fly agaric, is a highly toxic hallucinogenic mushroom, that looks almost EXACTLY like the one in the Mario games. Not only will it make you violently ill out of both ends, you will trip balls, and one of the interesting things it does it mess with your perception, making the ground seem farther away, almost like you grew taller (sound familiar?)
THERE IS ALSO A HYPOTHESIS THAT ANCIENT VIKINGS USED THEM TO GO BESERK WHILE FIGHTING
It doesn't make you ill if you dry it or boil it! Of course, I wouldn't know, and as all mushroom experts say, "don't munch on a hunch"
the more ya know
@@cupriferouscatalyst3708Yeah, you shouldn't *think* it's poisonous, you should *know* it's poisonous
@@cupriferouscatalyst3708I have these amanita muscaria capsules that I’ve been holding onto for a few months. Worried it’s gonna make me sick rather than having a nice trippy time
9:23 fun fact! amanita muscaria is a hallucinogenic mushroom, so when that green cat floated, they were *high* in more than one way :3
That "Mall Near You" game is honestly just wholesome. I wish there were more games that are like it and look like it. The style is really cool.
Edit: And it referenced Sears!
You should check out Smile for Me! Has a very similar vibe to it!
yes! i loved the cutesy character art style
Yes!!! The sears reference gave me huge nostalgia vibes 🥹
does the soap stinging your nsoe have to do with the bathroom maybe?
I thought the second was Gmod but looks like it's it's own game now! Very cool
It's actually a complete rip-off of an older game called "Scanner Sombre"
Or rather, it's a copy of the gmod "Lidar" mod, which is a clone of Scanner Sombre
It’s weegeepie I remember watching weegeepie and smg4 when I was younger
Good times
Damn
1.89 million subs???
Congrats bruh
That headphone slip at 20:44 is chef's kiss perfection. Thank you, Markimoo!
This is the weirdest chefs kiss I've ever seen
So glad Mark played Harvest Festival 64! It was a spooky and fun bite sized horror game and it was hilarious seeing Mark’s reactions!
The way that marks headphones slid off his head at 20:43 while he’s just staring in stunned silence had me in actual tears
It’s weird that Mark has played more than one Animal Crossing-themed horror game in this series. It’s the last game I’d ever expect to have horror elements, but maybe that’s why people are so interested in the idea.
Which other games were also Animal Crossing-themed? (Asking so I can watch those too)
There's only one other that I'm aware of, and it's the first game in 3 Scary Games #49.
@@lousannesherlock261 It was the one where you play as Blathers and try to catch an escaped tarantula.
@@lousannesherlock261 The game that I call scary owl game bcos the character you play as is called Blathers and he's upright walking on two legs is just as scary as anything else in that game. Btw I'm rewatching them myself and am currently on 3 Scary Games #15.
Well the original animal crossings have weird spooky stuff in them. It gives an uncanny feeling.
Im just disappointed he didnt stop and smell the roses more. All the dialogue and prompts are hilarious and he skipped half of it.
the lydar was really cool but man that buzzing at 15:55 really started to grate on my ears.
It's entirely possible that he just got the good ending because he has all the 10 gifts
This is Mark we’re talking about.
For real it bummed me out knowing that he missed all of that cool stuff!
Now Sips can dunk on Mark for being absolutely blind to context clues
@@icecold5707 Can't really blame Mark for missing them
Wasn't there a game almost exactly like that?
Where you were getting out of a cave using the same method of pathfinding and you were being hunted by ghost witches or something. I forgot the name.
Third game combined with Mark's reactions to the atmosphere plastered a smile on my face, lmao
All of my experience comes from geomatics; using it for forest canopy cover studies, elevation maps, finding utility lines in fields and under asphalt, stuff like that
Nothing is better than seeing "3 scary games" by Markiplier pop up as a notification. Best series ever! Never stop these please!
i like to think mark doesnt actually have a soundboard, and that he can make all those noises naturally
its pretty in line that we’d be watching an eldritch creature be one of the best content creators here for several years tbh
His reach has blessed many. All praise Iplier.

I wonder if the person who made the mall game had ever worked at a mall before, because the setup was actually VERY accurate - even with the service tunnels! And the aura of what a closed mall looks like
18:48 I'm glad the monster patiently waited till you finished the scan to eat you
27:16 "that'd be a good present for Wad- WOW dat ass" has got to be a top ten favorite mark line.
31:31 SCREW YOU LIXIAN! That scared the shit outta me!
Best jumpscare ever!!!! lmao 🤣 20:30 almost died…… laughing.
If you felt like the second game with the Lidar looked very familiar, you might be recalling "Scanner Sombre" which Jacksepticeye played back in 2017
THANK YOU! I _knew_ that concept was familiar somehow... You sir deserve veteran's discount for that
Hmm,but i dont watch Jacksepticeye, but still i found it so familiar,ig someone played the game youre refferencing idk
@@ametrime4754 There was also a game back on PS3 I believe, called Unfinished Swan. Same basic premise but with paint.

The dead mall horror game has a pretty cute art style for the people
That headphone slide caught me off guard 😂😂 20:43

XD
They just casually slip off :)
6:48 I swear, I’ve replayed this part a dozen times! I freakin love when Mark gets tickled at himself! 😭 Such a cutie! 🥰
I feel like on the 100th episode Lixian’s gonna set up a whole spooky intro like this, but hold the jumpscare and keep us on edge the whole video
I love how Mark finishes the third game and the video isn't even half way over
Mark's reaction to any mannequin in games is always the best, any long-time viewer knows he has a fear of them 😁
The deep ocean and a mannequin horror game would be the worst for him,
I share his fear with them man. I’m always afraid of them moving when I look away. Mark playing games with that exact thing doesn’t help me.
@@phantompop3192 meanwhile if I found a mannequin that moves on its own, I'd just hug it
@@scalesthebattlemage4634 you are a brave soul. 🙏
@@phantompop3192 I wouldn't say that I'm brave it's really just that I have a hard time with humans and an easy time with the unknown (for example eldritch horrors) I prefer things most humans label as "monsters" or "scary", and I think the reason is because I'm intrigued by what the human mind can't understand
the third game and mark's reaction to it was wonderful
and the headphones sliding off just added to it lol
The way Mark's voice when he said "Oh, hello" matched up with the music at the beginning of Harvest Festival makes it sound like it's the intro to the smoothest jazz music you've ever heard.
Damn. He somehow managed to miss the scares in Lidar

There's a game called Scanner Sombre that's a lot like it. I had a lot of fun playing it. Would definitely recommend if you liked Lidar.
Yeah. I don't want to see shitty game like the first one anymore. I don't see Mark enjoying it. Games like Lidar are much better
He didn’t even get any of the scares.
20:50 it's pretty impressive that the game was made in 30 minutes
I refuse to believe I just got jumpscared by a meme lmfaoooo
That Lidar.exe game felt like a conceptual test of the Scanner Sombre game.
He missed the entire second part of the game.
It does feel like an Alpha Scanner Sombre, Scanner is a lot more polished with better spooks and things to explore.

Right! I gave up a little into it, but now it's nagging me
What he said reminded me of his playthrough of The Crooked Man, that game did that a lot with the blank space around the actual game. Absolutely terrifying to notice it after being so focused on the regular game that you didn’t realize it fading into view
