I've been on one of her sisters.
Big ship, small crew.
I hope the crew gets some shore leave. The Gaslight Quarter has great nightlife and is not too far from Point Loma where they docked.
Biggest Canadian Navy ship I've seen in San Diego.
Is it a HMS Royal navy ?
@@seanmccarthy1421 No, she is His Majesties Canadian Ship Max Bernays of the Royal Canadian Navy not Royal Navy of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
@@waynereardon6826 thought so.
They are roughly 2000tons larger than the Frigates. But given that they're designed for long duration missions through first year ice, they will be larger and heavier.
HMCS Max Bernays is part of a fleet of 6 AOPS designed to patrol the arctic seas. The new type 26 frigate fleet of 15 CSC ships for Canada begin construction in June.
small weapons but has missle detect i think it can be heavily armed when needed
It's an offshore patrol vessel. The most likely thing they will ever encounter is a smuggler's boat, an errant fishing boat, or an angry polar bear. The 25mm is more than adequate for her designated mission.
I believe it is a reserve ship, not regular navy. It will never be heavily armed and is just for show.
The ship is designed to carry a cyclone helicopter providing ASW capabilities in theory at least. The mid ship storage area can carry up to six ISO containers providing almost limitless opportunities. These can provide whatever the mission requires such as on a recent mission, towed sonar arrays, but again in theory weapon systems like anti-ship missiles, torpedoes, etc. The ship also has accommodations for additional personnel for special missions. Given its light ice breaking capabilities and massive range this ship can go anywhere.
@@ianarchibald1423 This is incorrect. It's mainly for policing and arctic sovereingty patrols. It's not a warship, which is why it's not heavily armed.
@@johnwilliamsbr O.K., that's what I said. It's still just for show.
Oh, and I'm not wrong.
WOW! That is a large 'patrol vessel.' Looks more like an assualt vessel.
She's intended for long duration (2+ month) unsupported patrols through remote/austere locations and breaking through first year ice. She has to be big to do those tasks, and not have the crew go batty.
Wow , this port is way better than the North Pole 🇨🇦
Nice looking ship, can the U S navy build ships anymore?
the navy dont build ships!
How old are you?
Helo deck?

Wow, that crew got screwed! Why'd they tie her up at Point Loma, and not 32nd street? The Uber drivers are going to love that crew! 😁
Just stopped to fuel then moved over to the base later that day
If the navy doubled its current armaments and added one type of CIWS, it could protect itself from aerial attack during a conflict.
Edit: NATO ministers would give a nod of approval.
cochonnerie une mitraillette ils pense que c est un navire de guerre
