This week our players journey to arctic Zombieland, to kick undead ass, chew bubblegum, and hopefully outwit the traitor that's (maybe) in their midst. Can they survive the... DEAD OF WINTER?

I just noticed the interviews aren't in the uncut one - now I need to watch both lol
Sully wasting a fuel just for the mental image of a dog driving a car and then getting one of the most influential characters in the game killed have gone straight into my top 3 Sully moments in NRB history.
1. Learning he was the lunatic in botc
2. This moment
3. Summoning the queen twice in nemesis
honorable mention to when he found out he was the drunk in the first episode of botc after revealing what he thought was his role to literally every person round 1.
@@traupman84 and also an honourable mention to Sully’s Ascot day out from Dobbins or Bobbins.
And how about him forgetting to look at the cheese TWICE in cheese theif
Idk what botc means but I read it as Breath of the Child

Bev 100% is the MVP of the colony, she cooks she cleans she kills she’s the Mum
Rod cursing her existence from beyond the grave
Milfs will help us win the zombie apocalypse.
Bev for real MVP
The tree cornerstones of post-apocalyptic survival: cooking, cleaning, killing zombies
Bev is the Carol (from The Walking Dead) of this game.
Jon's card says "any other player". Not any non-exiled player. The rest of the game has been very specific to call out non-exile or not so... sorry Jon, that's a loss.
Totally agree
His betrayal was simply too cute. He won in my eyes.
Rosie’s line about “the most terrifying dice in all of board games” killed me as much as it did Adam! Thank you for the laughs!!
t-shirt when?
This is the first time I remember people behind the cam laughing
Literally cried laughing
When was this, like is there a time stamp? I’m sry I might be dumb
@@Jackson_the_king66 1:54:47
How, did they manage to turn this, semi-cooperative game that rewards selfish/antagonistic behavior into a less hostile board game than Mysterium, a game that is purely cooperative?
with pure talent!
I think you’re playing Mysterium wrong .
Found Family too strong
@@bigpapa1965 Probably referring to the time they played Mysterium on this channel and all they did was shout how dumb they all are, Mediums as well as the Ghost.
I can't wait for Jon to be completely calm and reasonable throughout this video!
Yeah...yeah...
This comments has allready given me greater appreciation for the video without even starting it.
Yes, reasonably calm and collected...
Totally not any sort of shenanigans whatsoever....
I’m at the very start of the video, I know nothing about this game and I will guarantee that that won’t happen.
This is the best board game show since Tabletop with Will Wheaton ended. The camera isn't too far away from the table you can't see the game progress, and its a nice bonus that you have close up pop ups of the cards. Really appreciate it.
I nearly did a spit take when Sully said all the important people won, trying to throw shade on Adam, but poor, unstable, paranoid Jon got caught in the crosshairs because he sure as hell didn't win.
I haven't even finished the episode yet, but Sully's first turn is the funniest, worst turn of Dead of Winter I've ever seen.
He had to have 3 survivors removed from the game as his objective
And then Sully followed it up with that Crossroads card....yeesh. Talk about a brutal first round of the game. Everything started off going pretty well, up until Sully got the Sheriff killed, and then things just went downhill from there.
I love how they just explain away all the complex tasks by justifying it with “Sparky’s a stunt dog”. They probably drove a car, looked for hidden objects, shot guns, and did takedowns on stuntmen for their Hollywood career.
This dog can drive! Ain’t that the tightest shit you’ve ever seen?
@@IsaacMayerCreativeWorks WHOA! Look at that! (no rhymes)
Going into this I was really hoping Sully would end up with Sparky the Wonder Dog. No Rolls Barred never disappoints.
The way I've replayed Rosie's "tHe mOsT TeRrIfYiNg DiCe iN AlL oF BoArDgAmInG" moment. 🤣🤣🤣 Honestly such a highlight of this episode, absolutely hilarious. Also love how festive it was that Adam effectively became a panto villain by the end of the game. 😅🤣
Laurie during the intro: players are gonna be working together for the most part…”
The whole NRB community: “HA! That’s a good one!”
Ah yes, working together. Teamwork. Cooperation. Alliances of needs.
What does that mean?
They actually did pretty well, even the 'betrayer' inadvertently worked well with the team.
@@jleis2996Yeah, to the point where I was like 99% sure there was no betrayer lol
Sully's outburst @1:53:09 while Jon literally pops a Lung laughing in the background is one of the greatest moments in YT history!
I think Sully managed to kill more survivors than Adam did.
A bit of a spoiler that comment and it's quite far up in the comment section.
Simple life hack for spoilers: Don’t read comments before watching
Shout out to Laurie for his succinct and useful turns. Fast players are the best so you can play more board games!
Rosie is a god damn treasure of a human being. I mean I would not trust her with a knife if she were to stand beside me but still a gem of a person
1:55:04 for the massacre that occurred onscreen.
35:26 for the Sparky car bit.
1:52:07 The release of the stress that Jon had obviously built up inside of him wondering if there actually was a traitor was an absolute joy to behold! I almost pi$$ed myself laughing along with him! Classic gaming moment! Great play through of one of my favourite games. Cheers guys!
Quick tip, when you guys buy a outsiders card you don’t have to play it, it’s a card like the others, just let it stay on your hand xD no need to make noise to change it every time. :)
I thought only the firefighter let you put the card into your hand for later, where everybody else has to play it immediately
I still think the best way for a trailer to be a traitor is to constantly make noise and search for more cards. Then contribute to the crisis to “help”. Act like you aren’t getting the right cards. Always add more survivors to make food hard. Use cards to make the waste pile fill up. Etc
Sparky is the best survivor in the whole game and there’s not a damn thing anyone could say or do to change my mind about that
I'm in hell
This is one of those episodes I click just before bed and end up laughing my ass off at 1am with out realizing how much time has gone by.
Adding this to the wishlist of games to someday play with a group.
In my mind, there was this idea that Sparky was either a) a cyborg, or b) actually a furry with the temperment of the Punisher. Were it not for mum, Sparky could've been the MVP.
Great watch!
Can't believe I'm writing this, but at least if Sparky was a furry, the driving and shotgun-shooting would make sense.
@@RanMouri82 It's definitely a sentence I'd never considered before. :D
One of my favorite parts of DoW is that in base traitor rules, there -might- be a traitor but it's never guaranteed so you're never quite sure if you're looking for a bad guy or not.
I love watching Jon in these kind of games. His chaotic unraveling especially in pure Co-op games always makes me laugh. Alo arguably best nails among NRB. But he didn't meet his objective here
How to betray effectively: Rather than fight zombies, go to where people are, lure zombies there so slots are full, and then for every person there a zombie will just kill someone.
Big question is if it's worth it to have someone at the colony to eat all the food. I think so.
Adam should have used some food cards to increase his die rolls in the last round, to let him do more actions. Players are normally allowed to spend food tokens to do this, but Exiles have to spend the food cards from their hands.
He should have also used all the food during his traitor reveal turn. They entirely ignored that rule how to use food tokens.
@@KristoVaher Yeah it was a pretty sub optimal traitor turn, shoulda ate the food. Also probable needed to be less willing to contribute to the crisis's to increae presssure on other players.
He was pretty set up for a final turn victory if he didn't attempt the betrayal to early. As he could have uncontested tanked at least 3 morale in the final round + and extra 2 moral by getting two of his surviors killed outside the colony.
WWE would love this game. It’s basically “Can They Coexist?!: The Board Game”
except, had someone not chosen a certain card, they would have.
Big pop for this
Adams heel turn went about as well as a WWE turn to boot.
“Scariest dice in board gaming”…Rosie makes me laugh every time!
im on Sully's side here his dog driving bit was worth it lol
I have watched this video about 6 times and I still laugh. Because of this video I bought this game, played it many, many times and even reviewed it. This is the best board game video online barre none.
Eyyyy Dead of Winter! One of my favorite games. I'm gonna time Jon - see how long it takes before he cracks.
Also, I hope you're feeding Adam while he's tied up in your basement, Laurie.
Well there's an entry for Adam's next list on worst ever heel turns.
Sparky with the shotgun: "I have come here to chew bones and kick ass. And I'm all out of bones."
DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED AND DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED
I really appreciate Adam taking the time to explain the game and give an inside on what is happening for those who don't know it and questioning if there's a traitor when he's the traitor.
1:55:04 Don't mind me. I simply feel time of death needs to be recorded.
Just when I thought I couldn't like Adam any more, he goes and says he's more of a Blur guy. Great episode, another game to add to my wishlist
Best play to do as traitor in that situation. Move a person to each outside location. Search and make 4 noise. Head to the colony and eat all the food to increased a die value by 1. But yes a lot of people try to sabo near the end but that is never enough time, honestly as traitor you play to excile while flooding resoursed asap
If you do that, you just get exiled and then you no longer win if the colony loses.
@@TheFinalChapters The assumption is getting exiled early give you a chance to complete the new exile objective.
But yeah generally if your trying to tank the game with eatting all food as well as a crisis spike you need to be the last player (which if your not last player on the final turn generally means your well set up to fully tank the game with also getting the first turn post crisis.
10:35 "It's a gritty survival series." says the guy controlling the Ninja. 😀
Jon dying of laughter throughout the Great Book Debate is the purest of joy and I love it.
Jon, from 1:52:20 is one of the best things I have ever seen, laughter is contagious
Before the hour passed Jon unraveled completely (justified and I'm all for it 100%) and somehow vindication came immediatelly after while Jon (again) unraveled some more about having to read his Crossroads card! This Let's Play is already a banger!
Rosie is somehow going to be the most reasonable person here, calling it now.
Zombie Sully is even more terrifying than regular Sully.
The Abandonded options are a bit weird
It should be keep the baby, or get rid of the baby
Keeping the Baby adds 5 zombies for its noise (no survivor added cuz the mother can feed it)
Getting rid of the baby Reduces Morale by 1 because people would be upset
Exactly what i thought! So weird that they didn’t chose the most obvious option of keeping or not keeping the baby instead
As much as I love the game, it is tonally inconsistent and doesn't go really all that far into the obvious things people would do in such a situation. Which, depending on your sensibilities is a good or bad thing.
Certainly, especially when you consider getting rid of the mother and keeping the baby makes little to no sense as is the worst of both worlds. It's not like 1 additional mouth to feed causes that much harm.
It should be getting rid of both mother and father with the baby and loose 2 morale as a clearer difference between options ( the zombie numbers could be different too). x:x
This episode has quite possibly the funniest final act Board Game Club has had to date. What are the chances of all of that happening so beautifully?
I must've replayed "You're sucking on shit, Adam" 10x in a row!! 😂😂😂😂
Just wanted to say that I stumbled on your channel a few months ago and this series quickly became part of my Tuesday! Keep it up you guys
I have now binged all of board game club and i have to say: Thank you so much for all the content and entertainment to all of you and i am looking forward to the next one. Much love!
Every game they have played on board game club is a game I want to own or own but haven’t played it.
I really like how Laurie described this game's rules
I think Laurie is the only member who’s sat in the same seat every game now and I’ll unsubscribe if he ever moves! It’s tradition!
LAURIE: It's because I have to get up to fiddle with the cameras
@@NoRollsBarred I like it mate, it’s your spot. Good old Laurie in the corner is a welcome sight.
Been watching these videos at work and they make the day go by faster. Really enjoy watching them
one thing I've learned after recently checking this channel out is: I just adore Sully 🤣🤣🤣
I adore this game, so happy to see you all playing it!
Would absolutely love to see you guys play this (or maybe one of the expansions) again
I think Laurie deserves a raise…. And then another 10 hour stream…… in person because that would be great for viewers and not players
Cheers all for yet another entertaining session. A fab playthrough and yet another game to add to my must buy list!
Another great game! Thank you so much! Fun to game/live vicariously through you beautiful gamers, especially as the plague rages on.
This was much, much funnier than I was expecting a game this grim to be. Great play through!
Yay! Another episode of my internet friends (who don’t know me from Steve) playing a board game. Thanks for the early week entertainment.
After less than an hour, it's become clear that Rosie is just the best. Hope she makes as many appearances on future episodes as possible.
Been waiting all week for this!
1:11:34 Sparky has now evolved from a Stunt Dog to the gun version of that dog that "fights" with swords 😂
I'm so excited! I've been wanting to see y'all play this since you started Bgc in person!
Loved this! Lots of fun, thanks guys!
This game looks so fun! You all look like you are having a blast!
This was a really fun episode. I'd like to see this played again down the road.
Maybe the longest night expansion ?
I haven't laughed this much watching a youtube vid in a long time.
Adam’s hot take on University life. Absolutely spot on 👌
1:48 "For every dead survivor...???" Surely if you're a survivor, you're not dead!
I think dead of winter is my favorite board game so I am beyond excited for this episode!!
Just discovered your channel and you've already played my favorite board game. Subscribed!
That image of some dude in the zombie apocalypse playing "Wonderwall". 😂 The secret newborn gets the hacky sack.
This game has so many steps to remember at any players turn, that is really insane. I like the game, but feels more like it would be better as a videogame.
"How can we help you betray us?"
I was DYING roflmao
I think significantly less of anyone who doesn't like sparky, you are not invited to our board game night
Seen this game in the background and I’ve been looking forward to seeing it.
Just tested positive. Have been continuously checking the notifications for this upload.
You guys always manage to make me smile at the worst times. Thank you for creating such a wholesome community ❤️
Good luck! I hope you recover quickly and have either really mild or no symptoms.
Oh great thanks. Now I want that game too.
Great video, specially love your semi-cooperative gameplays. The willing suspension of disbelief when Sparky uses a gun is not so much of a stretch. In our last game he was reading books about barricade construction. Well at least dogs have an affinity to wood. Cheers!
Good lord, this lineup is spectacular! They are hilarious beyond measure. #RIP Rod
this was great, hopefully there will be more episodes of this with you guys. Even possibly playing the expansions with long night or warring colonies.
You guys are my new favorite group to watch play. DoW is a solid game 🥶 💀 🧟♀️ cheers from Wisconsin USA 🇺🇸
Brilliant episode! I really loved this one, and DoW is such a good game: Please play it again!
This was the funniest one I’ve ever seen. Incredible
This was the best episode since Hit The Silk. Would love another episode playing that. 7 stars.
LAURIE: I LOVE Hit The Silk!
Discovered this game in college. Haven't won a game yet in it but still so enjoyable
Rosie's comment caused emotional damage! 🤣
Dudeeeeeeee! This is my favorite game! I adore this game so much! Still hoping for variants from the creators.
You should look up both expansions then. I also love this game.
The Long Night and Warring Colonies both bring a whole bunch of new optional rules, game mechanics, zombie types and survivors.
I am only half way through of the playthrough so far, but I'd like to point out that the game is being made extra hard for the traitor (if there is one!) by playing with too much open information. Hands should be kept secret, search should be kept secret.
If playing with too loose open hands about what cards you have then it is almost impossible to spike the crisis.
I understand there's no reason to comment on a 10 mth old video, but it should be noted that Outsider cards DO NOT have to be played if you gain one. They function as normal item cards and be held until the player voluntarily chooses to play them. Apart from desiring a better card (a good enough reason on its own), there's no reason to "fear" an Outsider card. Just choose NOT to play them.
Quick rules clarification and a story.
Okay, so you're not supposed to read the mechanical effects of Crossroads card choices along with the flavor text before making the choice. You're supposed to make your decision based solely on the flavor text.
My group and I made that same mistake too and learned our mistake when I bought the app (as that's how it works with the app). By the way, definitely get the app. It adds ambient music, voice overs, and sometimes even sound effects. Well worth the small price, is completely optional, and is not intrusive to the experience. It simply enhances the game.
Story time now! Okay, so I was playing with my normal group and we had not considered giving Sparky (the dog) a gun because, you know, it's a dog. A player looked over at me (the rules person in our group) and asked if there was actually a rule against it. I looked for a while but couldn't find any so they immediately gave the dog a gun.
A whole back story quickly developed about how the dog was basically Rambo or John Wick. He was never meant to use a gun but he had a dark mysterious and violent past. He vowed never to use a gun again but the zombies came. So Sparky said "Yeah, I guess I'm back!"
Every turn, that dog went around blasting zombies away as the group cheered him on. Then... He got hurt. We quickly gave that player pain killers the dog took them.
Unfortunately, that triggered a Crossroads card and Sparky ended up addicted. We did our best but simply couldn't feed his addiction and, well, RIP Sparky.
*Shows the traitor's "mugshot"* I almost spat out my coffee, what an amazing angle. 😆
I can't wait for a part 2!
love the implication that Wonderwall is considered an old spiritual in the apocalypse
Big appreciation for Jon's nails, love the blue! It's always awesome to see which new colour he has on and they always look stunning. 💙
@@JonGracey69 Aw sending much love your way ! 💙💙💙 Really appreciate you taking the time to respond, this has really made my day & thank you for always brightening my day & no doubt many others through content online & just being your amazing self. 😊💙
About the 25 minute mark, Adam auto plays the outsider card. Technically, you don't have to play outsider cards, you can just take them in to your hand, but the 'outsider1' isn't bad even in 'Too Many Mouths' since the extra searcher can be a huge thing early on. It's also a good traitor play, but then again most things are...
Exactly. It happened again around the 57 minute mark when Rosie made noise to avoid getting an Event card
I had played DoW so many times until someone pointed this out to me. I think the problem is calling them "event" cards.
Yeah, I've seen people make this mistake a few times. I find it easiest to think of the cards in your hand as all just cards until you play them out, then they become items, events etc.
