    I love the fabric you picked for it! Do you think bending the bill/visor insert while ironing it will give it the typical ballcap bill shape? I can't find any in stores so must make them I guess.

    • @albertoaisu
      @albertoaisu  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you!!You don’t need to iron it, you can bend it with your hands, it’s fairly moldable! (at least the ones i got are) I assume if you’re having a little trouble heat would help tho!

    Can a regular home Sewing machine be used or do you need one of the Heavy-duty industrial machines?

    I am struggling with the brim! Did you make one side 5mm smaller all the way around or just on the outer curve?

    • @albertoaisu
      @albertoaisu  3 місяці тому

      Just on the curve, so the seam will be pulled towards the bottom instead of sitting in the middle

  • @svmsales202
    @svmsales202 2 роки тому

    How would you get the front panels of the hat to be firm? Would you use something like a heat press? For example fitted hats tend to have a firm front panels, typically where the teams logo will go.

    • @albertoaisu
      @albertoaisu  2 роки тому

      If the fabric is firm enough you might not have to do anything, otherwise i would use an adhesive backing, there’s different types with different stiffness, to heat bond it to the fabric you can use a press, but most times an iron is good enough, especially on small areas..

    Awesome video man, much obliged. I'm a complete noob and was wondering if you knew if my Janome Sewist 721 would have enough drive to top-stitch through the polymer brim and the two layers of fabric?
    I've been searching all over to find a simple answer and can't seem to find a consensus. Am I dreaming that my machine can do this? Do I have to find a commercial machine to pull it off?

    • @albertoaisu
      @albertoaisu  2 роки тому

      Thank you!I’m not familiar with your machine, but if it can sew denim it should be fine, the plastic brim is thick but also quite soft for the needle to poke through, and if you use a thinner fabric than the jaquard i used, should be less of a challenge to your machine..I’d suggest to try, with a thick needle, at worst you’ll have wasted a needle, but i don’t think it should damage the machine!

      I got it from a supplier wholesale, you can find different types online, but you can also get polypropylene sheets in many craft stores (the ones used also to stiffen bags) that are easy to cut in the shape you need and quite inexpensive..

    YEARS AGO,
    Companies used to GIVE away hats to customers as free advertisement.
    THEN one day I went to my local auto parts store & they were asking $1. cool.
    I guess it was the NFL who made the $$ of ALL hats skyrocket.
    What aggravates me about ballcaps is-
    1 The $$$$$
    2 The POS cardboard bill. If you throw your hat into the washer, the cardboard bill will disintegrate.
    I'm sure the bill could be made out of plastic but cardboard was chosen by the marketing dept.
    Bastards.
