- Good Evening ladies and gents. I give you the beautiful U.S.S. Archimedes / NCC-83002 / Obena-Class starship. I added some torpedo launchers seeing I didn't see any from the version on the show. Later I'll add some escape pods. Id rather see how the official vessel will look before I add on too many things. This right here was just a small vid of her doing what I call the First Contact Turn. (First Contact turn from a ship seen on First First Contact...makes sense lol). And of course, the warp jump at the end.
Like I said before, Id love to add more details to her, but I want to see what the official vessel will fully look like before I add anything else. I'll make some later animations with her in the future of course. Give her a real journey through the Federation video. As always...enjoy! :)

Does anyone else think the straight/angled pylons look better on an Excelsior class starship than the L shaped pylons?
As I've never been a fan of the L-shaped pylons, definitely.

I had an idea. I think it would be interesting to see a Federation ship shutter all its windows. You would think that would be standard operating procedure during red alert.
Fantastic work as usual! The thing I love about the ships on Lower Decks is they all look like kitbash models. LOL
It's like the Starfleet engineers were bored one day, there were a bunch of Excelsior Class and Sovereign Class parts lying around and one said, "Hey, we got enough to make a whole ship" and the Obena-Class was born! LMAO
I will note here that an Obena-class actually has an oval saucer a d not a circular one.

Everything on the Obena class reads simplified to expedite production during/after the Dominion War.

I realized while watching another video on this class that the Sovereign is already similar to the Excelsior, in that is a bulkier, shorter, and longer class that succeeded a tall, elegant class like the Constitution or Galaxy.
Oh you need to show this to Trek Yards. They just did an analysis of the one from the show and I bet they would love to see - and even review - this render.
Great beauty shot, but the hull is a bit too shiny and if you could make the aztec pop a bit more it would be spot on.
You do great warping scenes. And thank god fr that. I can't stand rhe new warping from STD and Picard.

Put the Impulse engines on the side just like sovereign and reprise the saucer shuttlebay like galaxy then better!
Quick question for the people behind this UA-cam page/channel? I used to draw out various of concept design Star Trek Ships on printer paper but never got to do what you folks do on here with computer graphics! I love your channel- have seen several videos and am a Star Trek collector and would love to do this type of stuff as a hobby! How do you do this?
Thanks for the love :) Theres a bunch of artists far better than me. Im trying to be like them lol. But as for what I do... I make the vessel in Blender first. Ill use blueprints or ortho views if they exist, or Ill make vessels of my own design (such as the Angel, the Astral, and the Disvoyargy...that last one is actually a mix between Voyager and Discovery..all animated here in previous vids)
After that, I make .obj files of the vessels and transfer it to 3D Element via Video Copilot in Adobe After Effects. Thats where the real magic happens. I make phasers using an addon called Saber, torpedos with Optical Flares, (both from Video Copilot) Ill make tutorials in the future. Again, Im no expert! But Im pretty good at figuring stuff out and making it work lol.

An Excelsior
Is a really nice design, but it feels strange that it has so much from the original Excelsior and the design overall regarding the saucer and neck is too square. In Star Trek Online you can actually Kitbash a much better looking Excelsior Refit with a more sleek and modern design. I would only change the sovereign nacelles, feel too short for an Excelsior ship.
Only complaint is the video is not long enough.
You think so too? I wish they hade made it about 15 minutes longer.
the problem with star trek is the space ships are plausible and could exist in the future but the aliens all look like humans, star wars has stupid physics and unrealistic space ships but the aliens are more diverse like the would be in real life.
