I was a ships agent back in the 80s and attended to Polish ship, the Starogard Gdanski. every Monday at the South Bank Quay. There was a lot of smuggling went on that ship between the dockers and the ship's crew, and I remember seeing them doing their dealings. My attitude was that those poor Polish crew members were only tying to earn a few extra quid, and it wasn't any harm. always felt sorry for them when we were informed that the customs Black Gang had done another raid on that ship, which was unfortunatly a regular occurance.
