Great finish from what looks like a very challenging kit. I believe the N1 is the most beautiful starfighter to come from the Star Wars Universe. Hopefully with Din Djarin reintroducing it into canon we'll see more well-detailed models come out.
This is definitely my favorite starship design from the Prequels. I really do hope that there's a better kit of this available someday. This MPC/ERTL one is DEFINITELY not worth the prices that they're currently going for!
This is one of my favorite fighter designs in Sci Fi -period- and it's a real shame how off and terrible most of the models and toys are. I would love love Love a resurgence in N1 bits and bobs!
The minute you whipped out the Elegoo, I would have been tempted to CG the whole damn thing. Kudos for succeding on a difficult kit. I've haven't built models for years but when you said that AMT kits should come with their own tube of putty I LOL'd!
So how many modders are going to be buying these kits up to make the N-1 that was built on The Book of Boba Fett for Din Djarin? My guess would be.....a lot!!
Thanks! Unfortunately I didn't mix the paint all that scientifically. Just eyeballed it. I think it was something like 4 parts Tamiya XF-3 Yellow to 1 part XF-7 Red, but no promises!
It’s a great work btw. I disagree with the exhaust, don’t need to print them, it’s a matter of filling and sanding. I made the die cast, repainting and filling it….now I’ll try the plastic one. Never tried the compound, any tips? I’m using SMS paint and ammo a-stand (ex Alclad) . This is the accurate colour: SMS - Premium Gelb RLM04 30ml - PL180 Don’t need to mix. Love sms paint, but you can find the alternative. Great job
Cool... So how about those of us who don't have our own 3d printers and air brushes? Any word on how this would be as something fun to do over a weekend?
You could just build this straight from the box if you wanted, because the silver parts have a chrome coating already applied on them. And if the gaps on the nacelle tips don't bother you, then you're gold.
May ask you tips to avoid orange peel chrome? I’m using a stand (ex Alclad) lacquers for black base primer and chrome. SMS colour for the yellow. No prob for the yellow..but could be smoother. Do you sand before coats? Thanks
Once the gloss black layer is down and cured for a few days, I apply the chrome. No sanding in-between. Could be a lot of factors, though: temperature, humidity, air pressure from airbrush, etc...
@@giannipolini2544 I have an old Badger 150 that I got at an estate sale many years ago. Unsure of the needle size. I'd like to get a better airbrush one day, but the 150 is a great little dual-action brush.
@@billsfilmsinc it’s a great work, really. I tried with my Iwata 0.35, happy, but lines too large (the exhaust smoke I mean) I used lacquer for everything, even the smoke…maybe I should move to acrylic for that, so I can belittle them with an earbud). Do you have tips for that? Even the idea for R2 is great, but the Xwing 1/48 is too expensive..,I’ll try maybe on a 3d print service
@@giannipolini2544 I don't really use lacquers, unless they come from a spray can. I made the switch to acrylics a few years ago and never looked back. Yeah it's definitely not worth buying a whole X-Wing kit just for the R2 unit. I had one in the stash already, so I raided it! Just got lucky that it fit perfectly.
great job on an overpriced badly fitting kit - it is hardly complicated is it , they should be able to make it fit given the parts-count ?? this design would look good flying backwards .
Complaining about details over a snap together kit that is clearly meant for children feels completely pointless here. Maybe start off with a kit meeting your expectations would have been a better option. 🤷🏻♂️
The only N-1 kit that "meets my expectations" is made by Fine Molds, is 1/72 scale, and is impossibly hard to find. So I made lemonade and built this one instead.
This is my favorite ship of all of Star Wars and you did it fantastically ❤

Yeah, apparently AMT is re-popping this kit this year, as well as a Mandalorian-themed one.
I myself am a model builder/painter, and the amount of effort is just, wow
Now this is Pod Racing!
Beautiful wel done job.
Fantastic work!
Thanks a lot!

Great video. Thanks for making this. Nice production quality too.
Thanks Daniel, it means a lot coming from you.

Very well done build. I was wondering if I could buy a set of those 3D printed exhaust tails from you.

can you give us a link to the background music you used? Loved the video
edit: the music specifically starting at 4:14
Thank you! That music was licensed through Artlist.io, and the track is called "When the Sunrise" by Sivan Talmor.

Wait ERTL the same company that made the old Thomas the tank engine toys were involved with Star wars too?
They made a few model kits in the late 90's to tie into The Phantom Menace movie release.
