Thank you! I really appreciate it, it was tricky working with limited space, but I wanted to push the boundaries of possible within the jeep and it came out great. All the basic needs of a camper but inside a jeep
i built a campervan for traveling earlier this year and a funny story was after sinking all of that money into it, getting it done, etc ... I realized all the places I wanted to travel to required 4wd lol. Long story short, I bought a 2011 jeep jku automatic that already had 35" tires, after market wheels, 4" lift kit, led lighting about everywhere (light bar, A pillar, winch/bumper/headlights, tail lights, fog lights and even the inside lights), it also had an underbody light kit also led, has been geared down to 5.38, kenwood stereo w/ add-on speaker/subwoofers, also had superchip but not sure if it was the flashpak or calpak..I ended up buying a replacement since it didn't come with the flash device and upgraded to the flashpak so I could try to get better mpg....I've literally only owned it about 2 weeks. So I am trying to get some ideas on setting it up for overlanding without adding a whole lot of weight to it because its currently only getting about 12.9 mpg. I bought it from a dealership and i have no idea if they had flashed it over-riding the superchip settings but I do know the gear ratio was wrong because the speedometer was way off and the opposite of what you would think for large tires ... the speedo was showing 75 on the interstate but gps was only showing 68 pretty consistantly and it was at almost 3600 rpms. I don't think it was ever shifting into overdrive. So by flashing it and setting the gear ratio correctly, it seems its doing a lot better on rpms at highway and interstate speeds and also the speedometer is a lot closer to gps speed (within 1 or 2 mph). I don't know if that will help with the fuel economy or not but a lot of people are saying they are getting closer to 15-16 mpg with similar setups so hopefully that helps. Either way, I love what you did to the tailgate for kitchen area. Gonna subscribe as soon as i am done writing this book and hopefully find more info on how you did the water faucet setup.
Thanks! I tried to save as much space in the back for sleeping! It has come even further since - now more water in the bumper and some kitchen add-ons ua-cam.com/video/sSi04EjRCik/v-deo.html
I believe it was this company smartbottleinc.com/ however I would recommend using some sort of light blocking cover for them if used exterior like I did. They are holding up well no leaks no issues thus far
Nice work man!! We both know this project will never be complete though... ;) Next video we want to see you drive out somewhere with a cooler of food and actually use it all!!! Grill a steak on that bad boy etc.
Couldn't agree more!! "Built Not Bought" I live by it 👊👊 The playlist (Jeep) or most of the videos have "Project Overland" in the title to separate them out - there are a bunch of piece-work videos for the build along the way from the decking and the tailgate sink to the solar on the roof - I keep them short and sweet no intos or b-reel footage as it's mostly just filler UA-camrs add so they can get their 10min quota haha so they aren't amazing by any means but they should give anyone trying it on their own the "framework" of the how to
If I had a large plate of aluminum on hand I certainly would have! I only had the 3in on hand and just figured I'd make it work, but if recommending on how to construct it for sure it would be from a single piece
Sure... 2 door is 600lbs less, however if you're 6 ft it's not that comfortable to sleep in them, I've owned 4 x 2 door jeeps, and only bought the 4 door so I could sleep in the back of it. Lightweight in this context is relative to the build out for the camper portion.
ahhh okay. I'm 5'7 and I can get away with it in a 2 door, although It's almost a flush fit with no extra slack in space. One of the few Advantages of being a short king😂. 6ft would be pretty much impossible. I haven't driven the 4door but when I compared the weight difference when shopping, it was about 400-500lb extra , which is significant mass considering the engine is the same. On mine I put a small motorcycle with heavy duty bumper, that adds 430lb to my weight set up. I couldn't figure out how to add more HP or cc to my jeep so I just attach a Enduro bike where the spare wheel goes, to add 400cc lol. I had to ditch the rear tire too. So far the Enduro bike mod is extremely handy. If your at a camp, deploy the bike to explore or grab lunch. It gets 60mpg , so you save a bit of gas. Or if your downtown park the jeep and go about on the bike. If your sleeping inside that would cut alot of extra weight from a RTT / mounting gear ,etc. The cooking and water system is neat, I'll have to give that a try! A small cooking system has been very much needed. If I could somehow fit a toilet & shower . The jeep would be perfect, but that's too much to ask 😂😂😂.
Fantastic minimalist build. Great job hand-building the stove mount.

I appreciate it man! I'll also check out your channel, keep us all posted on the build you start with the jeep!
Clean build, efficient use of space, and the tailgate water system is awesome.
Thank you I really appreciate it! 👊👊
This is so freaking awesome! You are so innovative! Thanks for sharing your build!
Thanks!!! It has evolved even more since this video! Newest addition to the kitchen here: ua-cam.com/video/sSi04EjRCik/v-deo.html
This man mastered JEEP overland 👍👍👍👍. Real Respect
👊 I appreciate it! Just a Jeep guy with a whole lot of DIY passion put to good use
This is so sick, i love the water in the spare tire, what a great idea.

That's a different perspective on it. I like it.
Thanks! It has evolved much more since this video too!
Hey could you share more details on, or a link to the bags? How are they holding up? Love what you’ve done!
I believe it was this company smartbottleinc.com/ however I would recommend using some sort of light blocking cover for them if used exterior like I did. They are holding up well no leaks no issues thus far
love the "sink" and stove idea.... pretty unique
Thanks! Just a good use for a water bottle 🤣
Haaa. Omg, I love this. Good job my friend.... Good job!
Thank you! 🙌

Yeah it'll never be over hahah and that might be tomorrow out at the beach and all summer out on the dunes
I agree, time to field test your gear!!
Where are your how to videos on your Jeep mods. Custom has always trumped store bought products. So cool.🇺🇸

ua-cam.com/video/yzlJpK1Gt2E/v-deo.html this is the sink in it's raw form
ua-cam.com/video/zEY6bnWmG8s/v-deo.html this is the decking surface mid build so you can see the pieces and how they all work together
Nice innovation!
Thank you! It has been a fun project thus far!
I came looking ideas, I'm posting this inspired!!!! Amazing idea -
Thanks I'm glad I could help inspire you for your project!!
love it!!
Thanks 👊
Elon Musk doesn't mark stuff this innovative.
He better get working on it! I've got a new project about to start 🙌
Why did you put the separation between the two hinge arms? Why not put the top arm directly on top of the larger, bottom arm?
If I had a large plate of aluminum on hand I certainly would have! I only had the 3in on hand and just figured I'd make it work, but if recommending on how to construct it for sure it would be from a single piece
Also the gap is from the hinge cap they do not but flush to one another
@@ianmburke Yep, I see that now.
Do you think a Support Chain would work maybe as well as the 2nd Hinge ? Great design by the way !! 🇫🇮🇨🇦🙏
What camp stove is that?
Link is in the description 6800w stove should be like 10 items down or so on the list: on my mobile it won't let me copy and past it

Great stuff. You have an IG acct?
@ianmburke thanks 👊
😂.....umm 4 door light weight, brah.
Get a 2 door
