When using on PC with an official Xbox wireless adapter, the game chat audio mixer on the left ear cup does not work for me. The audio does not change when I turn the dial either direction. Kind of a bummer...other than that, I have no complaints about this headset!
Were you using the headset mic during the part where you selected the star field background? If that was the mic on this headset, there was some frequent static popping and that would be a deal breaker.
I saw one review that said it makes custom comms noise when you change the dials. Is this a supported feature or was someone lying to me? Btw subscriber earned
Great video mate . Just a quick question how far can you go before the Bluetooth disconnects from the Xbox series x as I find the Bluetooth is not great on the series x thanks 👍
Great question. I feel I’m good at 20-25 feet. I don’t get much further away then that. Keep in mind that’s not Bluetooth. That’s Xbox’s primary link. If you linked it to your phone or PC that would be Bluetooth and depends more on the transmitter. The Bluetooth on my PC sucks lol.
The good news is that battery lasts quite a bit so hopefully you remember to charge it the night before. But yeah. You could always get REALLY CLOSE and plug it in via a USB-A to USB-C cable.
How’s the latency on Xbox? Because some of the reviews of the original Xbox wireless controller mention that there is noticeable audio lag between like shooting a gun and hearing it fire. And as they are the same as the original xbox wireless, did you notice same audio latency issues?
I love everything about Starfield. I purchased the limited edition controller but not the headset. If I have a game room with excellent surround sound speakers. What would I need headphones for Starfield? Am I missing something?
No. Not missing anything in my humble opinion. Just personal preference. If you like Starfield make sure to sub. I'll have a ton of content coming soon!
Thank yo for this review. Have the xbox series headset, got the Starfield controller. Couldnt get myself to pay 125 euros for this. Looks amazing though
@@henriqueacabral yeah 125 is hard to justify for a “want” as opposed to a “need”. If I had to choose between the controller and the headset I’d go with the controller too.
I am searching for a vid that shows how you connect this to a pc. I have a wireless transmitter hooked up to my speaker headphone socket and that usually works for pairing. However, this time it just is not working. ;(
For wireless You need to either connect it to PC via Bluetooth, or the Xbox wireless adapter (sold here: amzn.to/3poubXu ) if you are still having trouble let me know. I’ll try and help walk you through it.
Sorted it out, thanks. I purchased a bluetooth t/r and it works perfectly. Just waiting on my constellation edition, which is about 2 hours away atm 👍@@RobUnwraps
Thanks for the review! Are we able to take the ear cups out and wash them? Or is it even advisable to? Been wanting to get one but I wear makeup sometimes and am worried they would get dirty and disgusting
You're welcome. No. They are not designed to be removed. If you want to clean them, I'd recommend using a damp rag and wiping them down. That's probably not what you wanted to hear. Sorry.
I love the Easter eggs Xbox does with its special edition stuff like custom sounds, engravings, hidden details, etc. The headset has custom sounds and then the controller unlocks a custom theme when you first connect it to your Xbox I think. Edit: does the headset and controller give you the same custom theme?
I haven’t really been using mine yet after the video. Maybe someone else will have some experience. (It is so new still it should also be under warranty even if it is outside of the return policy, I’d call Microsoft).
It's a little squeezy on the head and the ears after an extended session, but i have a big noggin and ears. Pretty cool overall, wish the the cups were a bit bigger tho.
Sounds fine for a $100 pair of gaming headphones. Supports Dolby atmos and Microsoft’s 3d sound. But these are $130 because of the branding so at that price you can probably find better.

No. That was being captured with my AVerMedia card and it caused the audio to clip. That was a different mic entirely. Hope that helps clear it up for you. Thanks for watching!
I used Windows Sonic for Headphones and it's not too bad. It's never going to be better than pure audiophile headphones but for $130 gaming headset it's okay.

Hey Rob, This might sound like an odd question. But let's say one wants to use these to livestream on the PC, or Zoom or Teams call. I heard Bluetooth isn't ideal for that for both controlling mic input and sound coming into the headphones. Is there a USB dongle or something that one can get to use these in those situations? Thanks! vgv

@@RobUnwraps Thank you sir! It's good to know Microsoft is taking care of their PC users. I had to get a wireless dongle to use my XBox 360 controller on my PC, so it makes sense. Thank you! vgv
After about a week. My Xbox X thought was a third-party headset and killed my wireless. Kept telling me to unplug the ethernet cable to use wireless, nothing was plugged in.
Just got the headset, I like it so far but the one thing I’m having a hard time is is there a cord that plugs into the headset and pc like a normal wired headset not a fan of Bluetooth on pc.

@@amberfreeman8421 get one that is about 6 feet long so you have some length and braided for protection amzn.to/44M4uhZ those should do nicely and they are inexpensive
I really like the Starfield controller. Unfortunately the headphones are Xbox/Windows only compatible and I bought my Series X primarily for Starfield, Halo Infinite and any other future console exclusives. I use my ps5 for everything else.
You can use them on your iOS devices and a Mac as well, but you cannot use them on the PS5. I’m the opposite by the way. I issue my PS5 for the exclusives and the Xbox / PC for everything else.
Here’s what wrong with it: If you turn it on…it also turns on your Xbox. So what? You might say…. Well, it’s Bluetooth functionality is great for use when I want to connect to my MacBook Pro for work on the other side of the house in my home office…but…turn it on and on goes your Xbox, notification sounds and all. So you are left with two options, totally unplug your Xbox or have your Xbox bleep bloop turn on sounds etc while you work. It’s incredibly annoying. Any before you say anything….no, there is not a setting to turn that off. Find it. I dare you. I BEG you. If you think it’s just a simple setting, I’m sorry to say, it is not. As long as your Xbox is plugged in, using this headset WILL boot up your Xbox and it’s awful.
I'm assuming you are on Xbox. Make sure you don't have the chat mix turned all the way down. There is an EQ in the Xbox as well as a dial on your headset that controls the mix.
@@RobUnwraps do I literally have to go through each little setting to get to the mixer because I pushed Xbox button go down to the bottom right to the volume seting thing click on that and the mixer is not available
@@RobUnwraps . I'm talking about inside warzones game I can't hear my friends talk but they can hear me but if we go through the Xbox chat I can hear them I can only not hear them inside the war zone game
Three ways. One is with blue tooth but I don't suggest it. 2 is with a really long usb cable. The best way to connect it wirelessly though is with the xbox wireless adapter which you can find here: amzn.to/3PMF4Np that's for the official one. You can get generics for about $10 cheaper.
I just contacted Microsoft XBox support, and they say you do NOT need the wireless adapter to connect either the Starfield XBox controller or headset to your PC.
@RobUnwraps Yeah, after I posted this comment, I did some digging. I was unaware that the wireless adapter did not also use Bluetooth, so I was confused why anyone would bother. I thought the adapters were just outdated from a time when PCs lacked independent Bluetooth capabilities. So... I bought myself an adapter.
Can you actually be in a call or voice chat (like discord) and hear the game sound? That was not answered, even if it's something very important when it comes to wireless gaming headsets.
You know what's funny? I wore glasses for about 10 years and finally got Lasik during the pandemic because I was tired of my glasses fogging up. That said I do keep a pair of blue light / readers around. One of the other viewers asked about glasses comfort. I put the glasses on and wore these for a bit. It was fine. Since the ear pads sit over your ear and not on your ear, I thought it felt okay.
I had to return the headset Because it wasn’t big enough it does fit my head but I wear glasses and it presses against them I wish it was a little bigger
I’m sorry to hear that but thanks for sharing and letting everyone else know. I got lasik about 2 years ago. Glasses under headphones is not something I miss.
Hows the sound quality? I will be away from home for about 3 months for work, and I plan on getting my Series S with me since its so portable. I have some expensive headphones at home which might've spoiled me in terms of audio quality, I usually really care about how good they sound. But since I dont plan on listening to music with these, im wondring how they sound ingame? Does it sound crap, or are they worth it for the price? Here in Sweden they're about 140 dollars, compared to the 110 of the original Wireless Headset. Im just too hyped for Starfield to even consider the originals lol. Are these a good pick, or are there much better alternatives for the price point. Thank you so much for the video, really love the video format
Here in the US the base model is $100. Those are a good value for the feature set versus how much they cost. At $140 you are really starting to pay for the branding. So, do you want a $100 pair of headphones that you paid an extra $40 for to have Starfield markings? If so then they are a good deal. If not? Then I'd pass on them. They sound fine but at 140-150 you could probably find some that sound better and are more comfortable. I hope that helps! Mine literally just hang on a wall and I look at them. When I'm gaming at my PC I'm using Astra A50s. So for me it was worth it just to have them hang on my wall.
@@RobUnwraps Yeah im a big collector and money isnt really a problem, but the reason money isnt a problem is because I don't waste it lol. I just fear I wont really use these much. But I do want a wireless headset that I can use in the living room while I play on the Series S. I have my main headset connected to my PC and PS5 so yeah. Might be worth it for that alone. But yeah im willing to pay 100 for the headset, and 40 dollars for the Starfield theme. I already bought the controller and couldnt be happier despite already owning one. But since its official from Xbox, if Starfield succeeds I think they will have some resell value, if not ill just keep them. Thanks again for the video, and sorry for this long comment. So I looked at his review: ua-cam.com/video/LNi5swswdFw/v-deo.html Seems like you didnt like it too much, but now you do? Is there any differences, isnt it the same headset?
I said in there that it has a nice feature list at $99 but I wish it had noise cancelling. Sounds about the same here. Thanks for watching both though!
The headset is basically the Xbox standard $99 wireless headset painted white for $125. It offers no additional features. The black one actually looks better. So this is a pass
Thanks for sharing. The only "features" would be the start up and shut down sounds which are different and the background for your xbox. The black with green accents is a great headset too. Hard to go wrong with either one of them.
The whole point though isn't that it has more features... its a limited/special edition version of the standard you mention..... I feel you're missing the point mate

How can you review a headset and only mention the quality of the sound for about 2 seconds out of a 6 minute video? You shouldn’t be reviewing this type of product.
You’ve missed the point of this review. I left a deeper response on your other comment. But thanks for the feedback I will make sure to incorporate that in further reviews.
dont sugar coat it. The headset sucks guys. I just got it and will send it straight back... Sound is pretty okay IF you are in USB C mode but the wireless mode is way below an average 50 bucks headset. Whats the point of having a wireless headset that ultimately sucks at what it is supposed to do? The xbox software and settings are also really limited. Do not spend money on the headset. It is really bad... this guys has to be paid.
What average $50 headset is better? I’ve had three Microsoft headsets. One wired and 2 wireless. The wireless one has been used and abused by one of my teenagers and is still holding strong. This one is the same as that but with a different shell. What $50 headset does Dolby? Sorry you don’t like it but I’m not paid. Any sponsored videos are marked as such (and there are a few of them on the channel but mostly for smaller brands).
@@RobUnwraps The sound AND mic quality is awful if you connect it to a regular PC via bluetooth. One needs the actual Xbox wireless adpater for PC in order to get the most out of it but that one is largely out of stock. Man even the Asus TUF or the Logitech G35 for 30 bucks sound better than this crap. Don't get me wrong I really dig the Starfield design but that doesn't change the fact that they are utter crap. And yes. Teenagers is exactly their target group. They are sturdy. Good enough for Console player to toss them around and getting them ready whenever they need to. The materials are also good. The controller is a dream btw. I love it. But the headset is an absolute nogo. And you giving it a C- for the "extra" included background noise reduction is also kinda unproffessional, dont you think? It is not working as intended at all and should be an F for utter failure. Dont take it personal but your video just really missed the an honsted review by a long shot this time. Maybe test it again? So long.
@@david_rocher first I want to thank you for coming back with a well thought out post and not just some tripe like, lolz get reckt. I definitely came at this from an Xbox first perspective and not a PC first. I wouldn't recommend anyone us this connected to their PC via Bluetooth. I'd only use, like you said, the Xbox wireless adapter. Part of the reason I said C- was to indicate that it was clearly below average, and I think most people that heard the test would be able to make a decision for themselves on what "grade" they'd want to give it. But I do understand your concern as if it was clearly failing why didn't I call it an F. Thanks for the constructive feedback. I said it needs Bluetooth 4.2. It uses USB-C if you want to physically connect it.
Were you using the headset mic during the part where you selected the star field background? If that was the mic on this headset, there was some frequent static popping and that would be a deal breaker.

If you really like Starfield it's worth it. If not just get the black one and save $30.
The only downside I can find is the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack, so if you run out of battery you can't use it anymore.
The good news is that battery lasts quite a bit so hopefully you remember to charge it the night before. But yeah. You could always get REALLY CLOSE and plug it in via a USB-A to USB-C cable.
It lasts forever on a charge. Even when it's low it lasts a few hours. You can still use it while you charge if you have a long cord.

How’s the latency on Xbox? Because some of the reviews of the original Xbox wireless controller mention that there is noticeable audio lag between like shooting a gun and hearing it fire.
And as they are the same as the original xbox wireless, did you notice same audio latency issues?
Not on the Xbox. But I do notice it if I Bluetooth to a PC, though that’s not unique to this headset.
In the box it looks like there might be a secret so when you open it not were the headset lies in like the lid thing were it has words

Yes it does. I captured those customer sounds in this video. They are a little soft but they are there.

Here’s what wrong with it:
If you turn it on…it also turns on your Xbox.
You are correct. It’s super annoying. You can go into the settings and unpair it each time but that’s super inconvenient also.
does the headset have the same issues the regular one has on pc?
It's the same headset just a different skin so I'd say yes.
With my starfield headphones I cannot hear my friends talk in warzone2 chat how do I fix that?
I'm assuming you are on Xbox. Make sure you don't have the chat mix turned all the way down. There is an EQ in the Xbox as well as a dial on your headset that controls the mix.

It works on an iPad and iPhone but I didn't test it with a MacBook. I'd assume it does but I'm not certain.

@RobUnwraps Yeah, after I posted this comment, I did some digging. I was unaware that the wireless adapter did not also use Bluetooth, so I was confused why anyone would bother. I don’t remember which ones it supports but I did list them off in the video. If it supports those then yes.
Can you actually be in a call or voice chat (like discord) and hear the game sound?
That was not answered, even if it's something very important when it comes to wireless gaming headsets.
Yes and it was.
Not a knock against you but no one ever checks the comfort level of headsets for glasses wearers.
I already bought the controller and couldnt be happier despite already owning one.

dont sugar coat it.
