EXACT 100% same problem I had with my DemoMan. Sometimes I could unplug J212 and clean pins and it would work good but always returns.
I just got the machine a few weeks ago and previous owner didn't install a remote holder. I immediatly ordered one to prevent this but sadly it came this way.
Took board out earlier tonight to solder in an external battery holder and saw some corrosion. Mostly on legs of the chips and resistors (much like yours). Nothing on board traces thankfully.
So I took some vinegar also, qtips and a toothbrush and cleaned it up good. Installed new battery holder and boom she's running perfect (so far lol). Who knows if it will return but hopefully it will.
Just watching videos now to learn any new tricks for the future :-)
So crazy though to see you having the same crazy randomness like I was.

    Me wants more!
    I am still hungry. xD
I need to get up my repair videos I need to redo them as most of them are done I have to redo them due to having the old website and old email put in the video.
And since I have not seen any repair videos for High-Speed 1 I thought I would be the first to post mine up.

Don’t trust the year on the battery. That is a promise for how long it might last on a shelf. Once in use, it is meaningless. I have had popular brands leak well before the indicated year.
Best to just pro-actively replace them annually even if ok.

No, A lot of people, myself included refer to this battery damage as acid damage. I believe I corrected myself later in the video. When an alkaline battery leaks its electrolyte (most commonly potassium hydroxide) which is a base and has a pH value above 7. You need an acid to neutralize a base so that's why you use vinegar which is a mild acid. After you neutralize the base, lightly sand the copper traces, make proper repairs, resolder new sockets/ components, the last step is to use isopropyl alcohol to clean the solder flux off the PC board.
