Dr.Frunkey, , thank you so much for your skills as a surgeon and for saving thousands of lives I’m sure. Without your capable hands and manyDr’s like you, many of us wouldn’t be alive. But I have 2 para 3’s that I’ve slap customized, it is so satisfying having the knife you want to carry. Thanks again, this is Alan, GREETINGS from Riverside in Southern California, God Bless You!! John 14:6
I love these scales and the hardware it's just what I've been looking for. Thank you for giving me the information on Instagram and I'm happy to have found you as well as now subscribed/started following you on both social media outlets, thank you so much!!! 🙏🏼 You rock Doc!
Hey Doc! As per your PM2 vid...I contacted Aramis and ordered Gray Twill CF Scales and a ridged Black CF backspacer. As per your issue I had Aramis not do the cutout for the pocket clip on mine, as I have deep-carry blade4sell skull 💀 pocket clip. My blade and hardware are all black so it should be sweet with the gray twill scales.I ordered some longer screws (as you did), domestically as Aramis said that would be needed because of the thicker scales. He did not offer those. GREAT guy to communicate and do business with! (Unlike Dept.13! Bad News). He has shipped my scales from a Russia with love. Hope that my conversion goes more smoothly than yours...These are difficult knives to work on, but your PM 3 looks INCREDIBLE! Thanks for the video. Very helpful.
Was trying to find a good video about the para 3 breakdown since everyone said it was not easy. I'm starting my intern year and happy to find another provider that EDCs their knives. Would love to ask you some questions sometime!
i got a para 3 specifically to take it apart and put natural jade g10 scales on it and when i looked up how to get the g10 off the metal, the video i watched the guy did it in like 10 secs. all you have to do is take a long neck screwdriver and put it between the metal and g10 and push it towards the lanyard hole till the g10 pops off.
THIS is why I try and watch such a video before I make a purchase. So far the Delica and similar (except for the Stainless Steel iterations) plus the Paras are a definite NoGos.
Well, one reason I love my two examples of ZT’s. Both are literally 4 simple screws and pop the scale off. The smocks not too bad but does have a tone of parts to not lose.
I have 2 Para 3's in Digi Cam, I have one in the natural G10. The natural G10 is my favorite. It looks amazing. But to keep it clean I leave it in the original box. I'm looking forward to buying the burnt orange Para 3 in Rex 45. I can't wait. The edge retention on the Rex 45 is really great. Those carbon fiber scales look really nice. I don't like the look of Spydercos Peel ply carbon fiber. You did an awesome job
The green hardware on carbon scales are way more me. My favorite two colors as well. I have a zt0393glcf with black burlap inlays, all working finish hinderer hardware, all screws raw titanium, and then green stand offs and green stop pin. It’s 100 percent me.
Did you end up finding some longer screws for the clip. This video inspired me to make the same build and I'm stuck on this clip. I have the lynch clip but the screws will not fit. Any advice would be appreciated. Keep up the great content.
Hey it’s Justin just to let you know there’s a tool for the lanyard tube it presses it out it takes the lanyard to write out just go online and look up para to lanyard removal tool and you should find it I got to get one for myself
I just purchased these scales in blue twill cf grand line. I told him I was going to install a mxg deep carry clip. He said I’ll need longer clip screws. What length size screws do I need and where did you purchase yours.
You are a brave soul for doing this live, though I will admit there is something very disconcerting about hearing a surgeon say, “I’m just going to have pry it apart”…My favourite Para 3 ATM is my Rex 45; EDCi spray to combat corrosion and a deep carry clip and it’s good to go. I may have missed where you mentioned it, but where did you get the aftermarket hardware?
Aramis told me I’d need longer screws for the deep carry clip option scales. My question to you is are the longer screws necessary or will the stock screws work. If needed to be long, do you know where I can purchase long screws. Thanks in advance 🙏🏻
With all due respect.... The DLC M4 with jade scales is in my opinion the best looking PAra out there. Any how those CF scales are sweet. I only have one Para 3 at the moment ,a blue BentoBox M390, so that has to be my favorit. Cheers!
I watching your video as I am taking a Para 3 apart in order to install c f Flytanium scales. My knife has the burple scales with s110v blade.I have done this with several para 2s and 1 para3.I got 1 scale off using your method but I am going to cut the other off.Spyderco did not need to make lanyard hole so small. The new scale's holes are a tiny bit larger and that works fine. This is the most difficult disassembly I have done so far on a para. Not fun! Thanks for posting,I enjoy your videos. You do a good job.
Just bought my first of probably many para3s today it's the digital camo g10 black blade how do you guys feel about wood handles for this knife? Any good ones already out there?
Looks great Frank beside being a pain in the D. That fella that i cant pronounce his name looks to do outstanding work. The Rob Carters tho !! Take care man
I’m with you I love robert’s knives absolutely perfect work and craftsmanship.i still have yet to own a custom carter or any carter for that matter, have gotten the chance to play with a few so I know why you love them so much. Thats awesome your going to do that give away on the cater trinity. May not be a custom cater but still is his model and his creation. If you decide not to use that one as a give away, I would love the chance to mabey buy it from you, obviously it would be awesome to win but I never win lol 😂 so buying might be easier. Anyway great video as I stated before and keep making awesome videos.
Sorry, but if you were getting custom scales, why wouldn't you just move the clip towards the back of the knife like the pm2? Remove the lanyard hole totally. But anyway. SOOOOO PRETTY! :)
People watch the video to see how to do something. However when you get to the hardest part you don't even show what to do on camera! Haha. I mean what the hell.
The para3 is an odd jem its among my top 5 in my rotation but that God damned clip though, if spiderco released their own version on a deep carry clip they'd make a fucking mint, they should just pay lynch already
Funny. You keep apologizing for you not being able to disassemble the knife, and then you tell us that you are a surgeon! Lol...I’m not getting a warm fuzzy....
Hate the stupid lanyard tube on these knives. Dumb build idea on that. Hated swapping scales on mine. I actually bent my tube taking it out. For what. Lanyards who uses those anyway. Lol.
“If you void the warranty, you’re sure as hell gonna have a hard time disassembling the damn thing”
Spyderco Team
Sharp dressed knives I believe sells a Spyderco lanyard removal tool that works beautifully and makes super easy without damaging scales or liners

Those scales are amazing looking. They look very comfortable. Nice work!
Hey you know it would’ve been great is if you showed how you got the lanyard tube out of the final scale on camera
Hey you just pull on it it’s not rocket science

There is nothing more that I love then a grown man moaning talking to himself when I try to watch the clip next to my half sleeping gf 🤣
Well, one reason I love my two examples of ZT’s. Both are literally 4 simple screws and pop the scale off. The smocks not too bad but does have a tone of parts to not lose.
What Torx bits are those?, I like the handle too the extension bits are awesome!
I love this step-by-step live video I'm building my para 3 right now
Awesome video and content. Any chance you're selling the jade g10 scales?
Those are incredible scales!

Killer job on both knives Doc! You've turned two plain-Janes into supermodels!
Doc, I could use the clip from your para 3. Would you please send it to me? Thanks

I been blocking out some of my knives like that with mosaic pins. Personalizes it just a bit, I like it.
Great Job!!! I think that I might have to follow you on this crusade!
... just need to find a black blade M4 Para3!!!
Wow really looks absolutely fantastic. Nice work 👍

I'm only four years late, and you probably know that flytanium has para three hardware. but just a heads up
Got some links to the tools used here?
I'm curious what tools he used as well.
Man I love the lanyard hole block outs and the green screws and pivot. Is that also for the same guy you got the scales from?
How did you keep the lanyard plug from rattling?? I have the same scales and hardware (I'm following your build)
Aramis told me I’d need longer screws for the deep carry clip option scales. My question to you is are the longer screws necessary or will the stock screws work. If needed to be long, do you know where I can purchase long screws. Thanks in advance 🙏🏻
Can you put a link for the scales 👍

You can get the hardware at bladehq
U need a T-6, T-8, T-10, hmmm, sounds like my spine surgeon! So are the screws in my back torx or flat heads, just wondering...

What is the screwdriver you are using?
How much were the custom scales and do you know if he works with Micarta?
where do i get the scales from?
Can u share the link to these scales? Thanks
The reason it is not "easy or fun" (12:49) is because you are using the wrong tools. The right sized puller or press works wonders!
Where’d you get those screws?
I watching your video as I am taking a Para 3 apart in order to install c f Flytanium scales. My knife has the burple scales with s110v blade.I have done this with several para 2s and 1 para3.I got 1 scale off using your method but I am going to cut the other off.Spyderco did not need to make lanyard hole so small. The new scale's holes are a tiny bit larger and that works fine. This is the most difficult disassembly I have done so far on a para. Not fun! Thanks! I always try to save the scales bc I can sell them!
Is that the "Teal" color hardware set on your PM2? Site is out of stock and I'm freakin bummed..😒
Love it Doc, guess I'm going to have to get my hands on a PM2 in better steel. Cant see spending more money on hardware than the knife for just S30V
Where did you purchase the backspacer?
Scales are from knife centre the titanium airplane edition
Where did you get the green hardware? I just got some silver twill for my para 3 to start with
Where could I find the cf backspacer for the Para3?
Damn, you got a beautiful collection of knives 🔪. I got to get this Scales for my Spyderco Para 3 Maxamet.
Just bought my first of probably many para3s today it's the digital camo g10 black blade how do you guys feel about wood handles for this knife? Any good ones already out there?
im not sure of many wood scale makers, but you can as Shepardcc. Check out shepardcustomconceal.wixsite.com/shepard-cc
The Good Doctor...reminds me of when I was a teenager and we would drink Dr. McGuillicuddy's, it was kinda like drinking mouthwash
The David (not sure what his last name is) knife that you showed looks really interesting. I hope we get a video on that soon!
does he sell the carbon fiber spacer as well?
I want S90V, with CF, the same CF that is on my Native, its fluted. Luv that CF..
i got the maxamet para3, and i love it since the moment i saw it first :D
Love love love those carbon fiber scales
Where did u get the backspacer
Would you mind sharing what tools you used in this video?
Boker Wiha Toolkit Torx
Brian Fellhoelter "Screw-IT' copper screwdriver
Standard bits
a screwdriver stem in between scale and liner and slowly pull towards lanyard and pop
Mucho bueno vídeo and beautiful set of knives amigo 👍🏻
Im new to your awesome channel and Sorry to bother, but I was wondering where you got the green hardware from?
Looks great Frank beside being a pain in the D. That fella that i cant pronounce his name looks to do outstanding work. The Rob Carters tho !! Take care man

I just stripped my bottom screw on my para 3 now I ordered a brand new set of titanium hardware..... Rip $50
Sorry, but if you were getting custom scales, why wouldn't you just move the clip towards the back of the knife like the pm2? Remove the lanyard hole totally.
But anyway. SOOOOO PRETTY! :)
The screws must go into the holes in the frame. I am not able to tap new holes in the frame to reposition the anchor point.
Ahhh. I see. Smart boy you are haha
If you got scales with no lanyard hole the what would give the back of the knife strength! The lanyard hole doubles as a bolster or spacer
@@jerseyjoe1677 I think they would have to add another screw and spacer.
I have the m4 satin, I traded the CF and s90 and I have the rex45 coming on monday
They have a tool to remove the lanyard tube now
no link for the scales?

Happy early b-day Doc !
I hate Spyderco for having such a $hit design on their lanyard tube removal
"basically uncarriable without a deep carry clip" thats odd, i just carried mine today with stock clip,WOW!
Is that tourque driver like a hand held impact wrench?
I have clone para 3 its easy to assemble
hey don't bother spelling out eramus peladicus whatever in the description. we'll figure it out. thanks!
I sprayed wd 40 and it jiggles out pretty easy

Funny. You keep apologizing for you not being able to disassemble the knife, and then you tell us that you are a surgeon! Lol...I’m not getting a warm fuzzy....
The P3 is assembled by a 66 year old grandma. Oh ya. Am sending my P3 to you for assembly, stay tuned.
Can you spell that please
I wish they made a anti deep carry clip for us who dont give a fuck if some weirdo gets scared.
Love me some carbon fiber , make great scales
Hate the stupid lanyard tube on these knives. Dumb build idea on that. Hated swapping scales on mine. I actually bent my tube taking it out. For what. Lanyards who uses those anyway. Lol.
Gamma Rayburst if Spyderco just made the lanyard tubes a hair smaller the world would be a better place! 😬
Nice
Pry the lanyard tube apart.
Mines the maxamet
