Now that's a train spectacular, Bill! I see you are zeroing in on 1,000 subs!! You will likely be there by the end of August... that's amazing! Great work! Thanks for a super video. T4
Hey, good evening, T4! It is so good to hear from you. I'll be in touch soon. Yes, "a train spectacular," says it all, T4. Jason @JD Stucks, Chris @Chris's Trains and Things, MattyC @Mattyctrains, and Tony @Rambles have all produced some really great videos about the day up in Detroit. It was a fantastic journey. Yes, my subscriber numbers have been going up. Honestly, T4, I have gotten several very nice shoutouts of recent that have certainly catapulted me forward. What was the title of that Beatles song? 🤔 LOL. I have some very thoughtful friends of which I count you as one. I did have a great time, thanks to Jason and all the folks who helped him. Take care now and thank you! Bill B.
What a great tribute to Jason and the 'Trainapalooza' get-together in Detroit, Bill! Your presents there made a lot of difference to Jason because you came such a long way to be there. I've followed Jason from the layout he had in Ohio and the amazing new build in Detroit. You are both modellers to watch for sure. Glad to make your acquaintance!
Wow, Tom, thank you! I gradually became aware of Jason and his former railroad just a short time before his relocation to Detroit. Since that time I have followed his work with great interest. I tell you what, his new railroad is really something and I am so pleased he gave me the opportunity to see it. It is already quite grand, but it has such potential that I am confident he will make the most of it. I do appreciate the kind works about the modeling. I do try. Currently, I am trying to wrap up what should have been a fairly short series, but now as gone on for months. But, I am retired now so I guess I am learning to slow down and take my time, or at least that is what I tell myself, lol. I have a much smaller railroad than, Jason’s and my curves and switches are O36. That is why I took my big 2-10-2 to Jason’s as I had literally never run it other than to test it out on a stretch of straight track. Well, anyway, I could talk trains for hours. Thank you again, Tom. I very much appreciate your thoughtful comment. It is good to have you aboard the OM&S. Bill
Bill, I truly loved your recap and I am so glad you were able to make the trip out to my event. That B&O engine you brought was beautiful and I'm so glad we all got to see it running around my layout. Can't wait to do this again next year and I hope to see you at York!
Awesome video Bill! You really got me thinking about those MoPac GP35's. Your B&O 2-10-2 looked awesome on Jason's layout . Glad you got her out to stretch her legs! ~Ricky
Hi, R&RTrains, thank you! I am very new to DCS and MTH motive power, but I must say I really enjoyed running those GP35's. While at the get together, Sid @Sid's Trains, helped me get the MTH ap on my phone so that I could use it to run the GP35's on the Detroit 3 Railers layout. That was very cool. Thank you for the comment about by B&O S1a. Bill B.
That looks like a real good time. Such good people. I have to say. Even thou the outdoor layout is basic with a big oval and the table just painted green. There is realistic element having the trains run outside in the natural light. Jason’s backyard backdrops also added to the picture. I’m glad you took this trip. I’m also glad you shared it with us.
Ken, thank you! The people were great, and it was a blast all the way around. The thing about the large modular layout provided by the Detroit 3 Railers is that it was built to be a traveling layout. A lot of work went into it, and it is designed to be strong and durable. And on top of that it performed perfectly outdoors the whole day. You are right about the natural light. I believe everyone present who ran their trains on the layout had a great experience. I had a great time making the video. Thank you again. Bill B.
I like your style of photography, most especially placing the camera in the path of the train at a turn so you can see the train approach and then pass by. This is one of my preferred methods of filming.
Thank you, Ed. Your thoughtful comment is much appreciated. I’ll keep what you said about placing the camera in the path of the train and then in addition to catching the train’s approach, getting it as it passes by. I generally try to get low as well as I feel like I am viewing the train as a rail fan. It is all fun. Thank you again! Bill B.
Hello Bill B. Looks like you had a great time. Your "holy grail" did put on a show. It was wonderful you got to run it on Jasons layout. Johnny did a great job pacing it when the passenger train went by in the other direction. I would say that was your "holy grail" of a Trainapalooza.
Hi Chris, I am so glad you stopped by to check out the video. I agree, Johnny @Audamus, who shot the pacing action, really did a great job. That passenger train passing by was icing on the cake. It was a credit to Johnny's skills that he did not miss a beat! Chris, I really did have the best time. I'm wondering now if perhaps "Trainapalooza" is what train heaven is like, lol. Take care and have a good week. Bill B.
Hey, Lance, it was a great time, and it was wonderful meeting you. I hope we have another opportunity to get together some day. I'll talk with you on discord I hope sooner than later. Keep up the good work on your railroad. Bill
Awesome Video Bill. Fantastic modular layout.! Your trains looked great and the video work was very top of the line.! The close up shot of your steamer in motion was very cool. Great job who ever was running the camera BIG 👍Biil I have to say the editing work you do is very well done. ! Thanks for this video.! 👍Mark
Thank you, two times over! That modular railroad really was fantastic. It gave us all plenty of time and space to run our trains which being a train guy yourself you know was a blast. Johnny @Audamus was the fellow who got the close up of the 2-10-2. Johnny is quite the videographer. He was at for much of the day. A great guy. I appreciate the kind words about the video editing. It always takes me quite a while to pull things together. Time is my secrete to editing, lol. Thank you again. Bill B.
Hi Dave, you bet, it was a blast. I had fun both shooting the footage and putting the video together. Honestly, I wish I had shot a lot more video. To busy running trains, I guess, lol. It was a very special experience. Hope you are doing well. I've been a little bit out of the loop for a bit, but I am back now and will catch up on things. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Bill B.
Hi, Tim, thank you! Yes, I had a great time. Been putting the trains back where they belong and getting back to work on the OM&S which is still in a little disarray due to my working up on the railroad. Right now I am making trees for the back ground project. I’ll share a photo on the community tab in a bit. Good to hear from you. Bill
How great is that!! What a wonderful experience Bill!! Looks like it was incredibly fun!! Meeting fellow model train enthusiasts really set the tone for a fantastic weekend.
Hi, Tom, it was a great day at Jason's, his layout, the people, the outdoor layout made possible thanks to the Detroit 3 Railers made for an awesome time! You ar right about the people. Being with so many people with the same passion for trains was really fun and it did set the tone for a fantastic time. Thank you for commenting! Bill B.
